Evening all...
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY GIRLYSQUARE
1) I arranged a lunch for my lovely colleague who's 50th it is on Monday. We used a voucher at Ask though there were 10 of us and the voucher was for 6 people they still gave us all the discount (thanks to a little sweet talking from your truly!)
2) Glass of wine with lunch
3) Movies with another colleague tonight... we went to see Inception which was really interesting and different. Marred only be the fact that I had a sickly sweet milkshake and spent most of the film debating whether to pop to the loo to throw up!
4) NCIS - Gibbs is very sexy
5) Cake for brekkie!
night all ... sleep well! I sure will!
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
No email back yet about changing my username so here are my 5 for today.
1) Had my hair cut. I have had to put off for ages due to my "little friends" but finally its been done. It was getting a bit "Terry Wogan" with sort of wing bits over my ears but its under control again now.
2) The boys went to mum and dad's while I went to the hairdressers so did bracken sledging (as it sounds....) and mum made us some lunch.
3) Had a letter from the Financial Ombudsman so *hopefully* the money being knocked off my loan is getting closer...
4) Went to Sainsburys and got a fair sized shop and started on getting school uniform.
5) Did roast chicken for tea.
6) Walked to the pub and back. Just made it back before it got dark properly but it was dark enough to see the lights of the M5 (18 miles away) and radio masts that are 18 and 45 miles away!0 -
Must go to bed!
5 for today
1. DS1 birthday. He was v happy with all his presents.
2. Had loads planned for today, but eventually decided it was too much, as I am still not very well. Good decision!
3. Collected a mystery parcel from home delivery network, which turned out to be a free sample of hair dye and some MOCs.
4. Endured 'Cats and Dogs' with DS2 this afternoon, and as a reward DH took me to see 'Knight and Day' this evening! Don't worry, used cheap wed offer of £3 tickets in one cinema and 0range wed in another. Have heard silly stories recently about friends paying £30+ for trips to the cinema. Not even taking their own snacks
5. Haven't managed a cupboard today, but have cleaned out the holiday toiletry box. Put it through the dishwasher and it came up sparkling. Have put ingredients in the breadmaker to make a loaf overnight. Counting this as a 'make'.
6. Listened to Radio 4 prog about typewriters with Stephen Fry. Listen again if you have time :rotfl:
Happy Birthday Girly Square!
Night All0 -
Hiya all. Am not sleepy at all. I had a two hour sleep before supper - I was shattered - and it's thrown everything out. Thank you so much for that recipe marmiterulesok. We've run out of banana cake and I've got plenty of all the ingredients in, except for pecans (we're nut-free), so I'll give a pecan-less version a go tomorrow. GirlySquare - belated happy birthday from me too and thanks for the Carluccio's recipe I've printed it out to try it. It sounds scrummy.
Anyway... My five pleasures for Wednesday:
1. A very productive day's work - had a good breakthrough.
2. Really appreciating the help that archivists and librarians have been giving me - people going way beyond the call of duty who clearly love the work they do.
3. The records I was going through today were all 20th century but there were people all around me looking at much, much older stuff, things like Tudor wills, and it was fun hearing snippets of whispered conversations.
4. Taking a short break at lunchtime to sit in the sunshine and have the picnic I'd brought with me.
5. Catching up with the children on their days again. We are all doing such different things at the moment and it's interesting to hear what's been going on for them.
Right... I'm going to force myself to get to sleep. I shall do sudokus until I nod off - usually works.
Sleep well everyone
B x0 -
My five for yesterday are
1. Cake at work - always appreciated.
2. A fairly calm Wednesday - they are normally chaotic.
3. A NSD
4.Long walk with the dog looking to see where the blackberries are ripe so I can pick them today.
5. Watching DS2 training with about 20 others of different age groups but all getting on well.0 -
Hi all
Girlysquare, happy belated birthday - we are great 'uns, us Leos! :-) (spoken like a true Leo!)
Only midday but already got lots of pleasures to list:
1 - No work today, it is amazing how lovely it is to have no-work days when I have a job!
2 - Up early anyway (bodyclock used to it) and made breakfast for DH and myself so we spent a nice little time together in the quiet kitcken in the morning
3 - I am not sure if anyone else would consider this a pleasure but it was sweet in its own way: this morning our two cats caught and killed a mouse (I did not see the kill, mercifully) - we get them sometimes because we leave the back door open most of the day - and presented it to us with great pride and fanfare. I felt really sorry for the poor creature but also quite proud of my two great hunters! DH disposed of the body, needless to say!
4 - This morning I managed to do almost all the ironing YIPPEE!!!
5 - My new cleaner, who is a very pleasant young woman (at last, someone nice AND competent!), brought me a bunch of flowers as a late present for my birthday, how nice is that!
6 - Lots of yummy leftovers in the fridge waiting to be eaten for lunch, I shall share them with DS.
Have a great day everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Sammy-cat is a great hunter too, Caterina, and I'm very proud of his skills. William-cat is too stupid to do much hunting and has no idea what to do when he does catch something!
My OS pleasures so far today are:
1. Hot water bottles for sore tummies.
2. Watching William sleep.
3. Home-made Carrot & Chickpea Soup with Harissa for lunch.
4. Sunshine to cheer me up.
5. Not needing to do housework today!Household: Laura + William-cat
Not Buying It in 20150 -
1. Baking today,bread and scones
2.Delicious lunch with HG veg
3. Listening to a poem on radio 4 iplayer
4. House is relatively tidy, will do more later :-)
5. Getting on with th cross-stitch"The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -
Afternoon everyone. Bit of a funny weather day today, looks stormy, but doesn't seem to be doing much, just enough to annoy me because I have to keep putting the washing out and bringing it back in. Nearly all dry now.
My five for today,
1) Washed and dried all the animal beds and blankets ( 2 dogs and 1 bunny) hope thay know how hard I work for them
2) DH has replaced all the panes of glass that were broken in my greenhouse and he's promising to help me with a refurbish, ie benches and winter/summer protection. Hoping to use my GH all through the winter.
3) DHs Fishing Mag. has been delivered, not my pleasure, but he will be really pleased, so I'm happy.
4) Visiting my DM at her nursing home today. She is still so poorly but she has so much fight in her even though she will never get better. We don't get to many smiles these days, but when she does, it makes my day.
5) I haven't really got a specific number 5 but just feel that my life is full of so many little projects and plans at the moment and this is good because it keeps me busy and happy.
Hope everyone is having a really nice day. Hugs to those who need them and welcome to any newcomers. This is such a nice thread.:)Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

[QUOTE=Ladyhawk;35613985] NCIS - Gibbs is very sexy
/QUOTE]
HANDS OFF - HE'S MINE!! (along with DiNozzo - oh, to be the filling in that particular sandwich....)
Which brings me to my 5 for yesterday:
1. NCIS on TV with the sexy Gibbs!
2. Followed by Law and Order with the sexy Robert Goren. Phew, is it me or is it hot in here?
3. Welcoming my lovely colleague back at work after her holiday.
4. Yummy spicy pasta for tea, except that I forgot the pastaso as the sauce was really thick and chock full of yummy beans and vegetables, I had it with some pitta bread instead.
5. Being told that I'd been a wonderful cat fosterer. I certainly enjoyed it.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0
