    Hi everyone,

I am feeling a little icky tonight... got a sore tummy :( Don't know why as I have lost my appitite and have hardly eaten anything all weekend...

    1) Bought a needle to start sewing up my blanket and sewed up 5 of the squares. It's going to be a bit of a mismash as the squares aren't quite square but it is fine for a first attempt.

    2) Popped over to a nice freecycler who let me raid her crabapple tree.

    3) Made some summer berry and crabapple jam

    4) Chatted to my mum on the phone

    5) Snooze this afternoon.

Night night and have a magnificent Monday.

    Evening all,

Ladyhawk, if things match up and look perfect then they might as well be made by a machine and surely that's not the look any of us are after :rotfl:Sounds lovely and hope you feel better soon.

(((Hugs))) to all that could do with them.

    My five for Sunday:

    1. Getting woken up by the dawn chorus (I had the window open), enjoying listening to the racket, then shutting the window and falling asleep again. :D

    2. Getting the children's beds washed and dried and smelling scrumptious.

    3. Cooking this evening with door and windows open, warm air and late afternoon sun in the kitchen with the radio on in the background.

    4. Quorn mince and veg stuffed courgettes for supper (with enough for tomorrow night's tea as well); then mixed the left-over quorn mince stuffing with the courgette inners that I'd removed, cooked it a bit more to vanish the courgettes and put into a dish ready to freeze (it will get mash on top at some point and become shepherd's pie); spare courgettes, vegbox aubergine, onion, tomatoes and garlic turned into ratatouille in another dish ready to have a cheese and breadcrumb topping added then frozen for another meal. And, at last, all the courgettes have been used up :j:j:j (until the vegbox that arrives on Tuesday that is...)

    5. Just taken a banana bread out of the BM. We had some fruit that urgently needed using up and the children love banana bread. I don't like it but the smell is just gorgeous.

Need to go and get on with some work so am posting earlier tonight.

    Have a lovely evening everyone.

    5 for today!

    1) Had a lie in this morning! Boys didn't wake up until 10.15. I woke up before that and couldn't work out why the house was so quiet. Bigger son rarely sleeps past 8am.

    2) Had a brunch of sausage, egg and tomato sandwiches.

    3) Next door neighbour fixed smaller son's bike for him and I stopped to have a cup of tea.

    4) Went to the local fair where my sister was playing her flute for the Morris dancers. Saw mum and dad there, children from school and mum's friend with their new puppy.

    5) My school friend came round. Had a cheating tea - lasagne I made a day or 2 ago, some salad and a few chips. And some left over birthday cake.

    6) Walked to the pub tonight (including friend).
  • Just been catching up a bit here, after some silly shifts. OS posters really cheer/help each other along.
Woggle - big hugs to you. Hospital food is a big issue, if we want folks to get better! Fight on, friend!
Giddynici - Welcome to OS, bed & a good book is always a pleasure when you can do it.
Acey - Hugs, the hairdo is transient... re Toy Story, DS took GGD to see it, came home rabbitting about the Fisher-Price telephone, his earliest memory of a toy. It`s still in the loft, unbroken. Great bit of nostalgia shared there.
Mollie- are you telling me that Nigella does frugal meals? Am surprised but willing to be convinced....
Thrilla - let your neighbours twitch if they`ve nothing better to do. Sounds like you had a good Sunday, Bless you!
Silligilli - rowan jelly, tell us more?

    My five pleasures today-
    1) a lie-in then a bacon buttie before going in on the late shift. (or should that count as three?)
    2) a nice shift, just enough of us to do it right, and visitors` input quite constructive today. It isn`t always so.
    3) enjoyed this evenings Archers, taking evening break in the car!
    4) lovely supper, chicken drumsticks, HM atuffing and courgettes, with runner beans from farm shop picked yesterday.
    5) day off tomorrow, eldest DGD will be in esidence a few days. Blissy hassle, but an alternative life!

    Morning all.

    Here's mine for yesterday:

    1) Lie-in. :)

    2) My favourite smoked salmon on HM bread for brunch. (I got a load of smoked salmon a couple of months ago when it was on special offer, froze it, and am gradually munching my way through it.)

    3) Planted my third lot of lettuces for this - fingers crossed the darn things actually grow this time, unlike the last two times. :(

    4) Spent most of the afternoon reading a book I picked up from a charity shop - it's not at all a bad story, particularly for £2.

    5) My pub quiz team is second in the league at the halfway point, so we got a tenner to put in our Christmas meal fund.

Hugs to everyone who's feeling down or unwell, and :hello: new posters.
Back after a very long break!

I found the recipe here,of course!Just recently as well.

-400g peanuts-I use unsalted peanuts with their skins on,you might prefer salted,as was suggested.
    -a couple tbsp honey/golden syrup
-3 to 4 tbsp sunflower oil

Put the peanuts in a blender and slowly add the other ingredients til you get the desired consistency/taste.Keep in a jar in the fridge.

I've made it twice so far,and it's gone quickly! The first time with honey and sunflower oil,and the second time with golden syrup and flaxseed oil.TBH I can't taste a difference between to two varieties.I ended up putting in 3 to 4 tbsp honey/golden syrup and about 5 tbsp oil. It's not as 'sticky' as shop bought, but I didn't want to put in any more liquid as it's already so calorie-laden.I did wonder about adding a small quantity of water.

I'd like to work out the price compared to the organic one I usually buy. It's just as good IMO.I'm thinking of trying almond butter.

Let me know how it turns out!:)

    Hello Peeps,

Back from hols in the depths of beautiful hampshire.......Hope you have all had a good week. I will catch up on the thread over the coming week. Feeling a bit delicate due to food poisoning from posh burger joint in Covent Garden on Thursday evening. Only just back on proper food!!!!!

Despite a rather undignified end to our week away, we did have a nice time. Difficult to balance the interests of a 9 year old and an almost 15 year old, but a mix of London, NT, Brighton kitch and theme park suited everyone. We used vouchers and free entry as much as possible, and tried not to get too annoyed with DS1 or the 'Surly Ars*' as OH kept calling him!! :rotfl:(Thanks to Alisong for suggestions, much appreciated!:A).

V proud of DD who did v well on her swim camp. :j

    5 pleasures for yesterday

    1. Boiled egg for breakfast.
    2. Re-stuffed the living room cushions with a couple of old pillows, so now have nice plump overstuffed cushions again. Hurray! :)
    3. Visit to DMiL. Went to posh garden centre for tea and scones.
    4. Made HM yoghurt and blueberry compote.
    5. Friends invited us for tea, and I managed some cottage pie.

Back on to the 'sort a cupboard and make something' everyday of the hols. So off to defrost one of the freezers. (Counting this as a cold cupboard) ;).
