5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1. Just put a chicken casserole in the oven, looking forward to dinner later
2. Lunch with DH
3. Going to ring a friend tonight for a chat
4. Lighting to log burner
5. Having a big pile of peelings for the compost heap."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -
1) Went to have my hair done. As always, a very reasonable cost for the job done and lots of lovely stories from the girl who does my hair. This week's involved her big sister being able to announce that she was pregnant. My hairdresser's little sister put on Facebook that her big sister was pregnant but didn't say which one! You can imagine the fallout.
2) Mowed the lawn. I really, really, really don't like mowing the lawn. However, the garden looks much neater now. I also took two or three loads of stuff to the tip that had been hanging around by the garage for a few weeks AND I hoed the border with my new hoe. So I'm feeling quite virtuous.
3) A yellow-stickered chicken for tea. It's tiny but it will do one serving each and a soup, at least.
4) A Thornton's moment. I bought a bag of misshapes and managed to give DD, DS and gf two each before starting on them myself. There are still some left for DH so I haven't been a complete piglet.
5) My cast iron tea-pot. It's perched on the stove, waiting to be tried out and it was only a third of the price.0 -
I had such a laugh this morning. Our friendly wood pidgeon hopped inside the front room and after sizing up the options, just hopped up on the sofa next to me. Unfortunately, posty rang the rather loud doorbell and both her and I got such a fright. She flew straight out the door and I nearly fell off the sofa. Our posty is a lovely friendly chap and we both had a good laugh on the doorstep when I told him what had just happened.:rotfl:
So that was my 1st pleasure in my day.
2. Leftover beef curry and homemade bread for lunch. Delish.
3. A refreshing glass of homemade elderflower cordial and soda.
4. Popped out to Lidl and Sainsbury's. Got 2 punnets of reduced blueberries for 55p each. They have gone into the freezer. Also some reduced strawberries.
5. All the 5 ticket machines in the parking garage were not working and everybody had left notes on their dashboard, so parked for free.
Have a good Friday evening everyone.:beer:Felines are my favourite

Hi all
More thanks to all of you who gave me more birthday wishes! Yes I had a lovely day and then the day after was lovely too and then today is also being lovely! I tend to drag my birthday celebrations for as long as possible - last year I had a "week of sensory pleasures" where I went with friends to listen to music, had nice meals, had a massage and other lovely treats, shame that DH was away doing his Aikido week (every year it falls on my birthday, worse luck!).
However, here are my pleasures for today:
1 - Nice Italian breakfast of fresella (pre-toasted bread, a bit like a very very dry bagel) dampened with water to soften and covered with tomatoes, onions and herbs, all from the garden, and dressed with olive oil and vinegar YUMMY and healthy.
2 - Managed to do all I had planned to do in the morning without any effort (paperwork stuff).
3 - A friend who could not come to the outing on Wednesday invited me out for lunch today, we had a lovely time and the lunch was great.
4 - I am going to put one of the new quilt covers on the bed tonight
5 - Another friend who could not come along the other day invited me tonight to have dinner with her at her home. It is her birthday on 10th August but she is going away then so we are celebrating mine in arrears and hers in advance!
Love to all xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all - hope you're well on a thoroughly miserable night (it is in Pompey, anyway).Yes I had a lovely day and then the day after was lovely too and then today is also being lovely!
GOOD! I hope tomorrow's equally lovely for you.
parsonswife - your pigeon story made me laugh. I've never heard of anyone having a pet wood pigeon before.
zarazara - I've got fakeout pizza tonight and have been looking forward to it all day. Then you mention chicken casserole, and guess what I now want for dinner? It ain't pizza!I hope the casserole's really yummy.
Broomstick - that's great news about your DS2. Can I ask what the workshop's about? (Yes, I'm just being nosy! Feel free to ignore that if you prefer.) Having a couple of weeks of uninterrupted research sounds great - I can't imagine it happens very often.
savingforoz - hello! It's nice to see your name again - I think we all forgive your temporary defection.:):):):):):):):):):):):)
My pleasures for today:
1) I've got my new kitchen floor. It's much darker than I would have chosen for myself but, on the plus side, it won't show all the gravy splashes that my cat makes when he eats (I've never come across a cat that's such a messy eater - his bowl ends up surrounded by a 2 foot ring of gravy splashes every time he eats ).
2) There was a lady in the supermarket at lunchtime handing out vouchers for money off a new variety of cider - one per customer. When I mentioned that my sister loves cider too, she gave me a whole handful of vouchers - cheap cider here we come!
3) I added up the cost of my shopping as I was going along, and got it right to within £1. Given how appalling my mental arithmatic usually is, I was very impressed with myself.
4) It's Friday. :j
5) Fakeout night tonight - I was intending to get a proper takeaway but decided that, even with a money off code, buying a good quality pizza from the supermarket would be much cheaper, and nearly as tasty. :money: (Yes, I know HM would be better still, but I didn't expect the guys laying my new floor to be done in less than an hour.) I'm determined to enjoy it, even if I would now rather have zarazara's chicken casserole...
Have a lovely evening, peeps.Back after a very long break!0 -
There it is sat on top of my ironing basket. The plastic water gun under the table is to scare the grey squirrels away from my bird tables.

Happy belated birthday wishes Caterina!!
Oooops I've fallen off the forum for the past couple of weeks. My poor little bunny who we bought 4 weeks ago, became very ill and nearly died. We have spent many anxious days and nights watching over him, but finally he seems to be on the mend thanks to our excellent vet.
I will try and catch up on all your posts if I can.
My blessings
1) Basil is getting back to normal what a relief!
2) Had a lovely weekend away wth DH last week and went SHOPPING!
3) Our DGS is here for two weeks of his summer holidays. It's so lovely to have him around.
4) DH bought me a pressure cooker recipe book, I hadn't got one and it will be so useful. I love my pressure cooker.
5) The Sept. edition of Gr*w Your Own is out today, I love this mag. and can't wait to read it when I get a quiet moment........if I get a quiet moment.
Hope everyone is keeping well and has a great weekend!Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Evening all,
Hope your Friday has been fantastic.
1) Nice day in the office - senior management was out so we all got on with our work with no interuptions.
2) Walk into town with two of my lovely colleagues at lunch
3) NSD
4) Yummy HM lunch - bread rolls from the freezer, tuna mayo with lettuce leaves from my windowsill. Followed by a big pot of strawberry jelly!
5) Yummy left over curry for supper.
6) Big boss wrote a nice note to me, copying in my boss saying that the briefing note I had written had been very useful and had been shared with the various MD's of the UK business. I was really worried about the briefing note as I really didn't know what she was after.
7) IT'S THE WEEKEND!!!!!
Night all, and have a superb Saturday.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
5 for Friday.
1) Had a text from friends I went to Sixth Form College with and they're coming over tomorrow! They live in the south east now so I only see them once or twice a year.
2) Had a good tidy up. Had bags for the clothes recycling bin, the second hand shop and a bag of library books to take back.
3) Went swimming with my brother.
4) Had a cup of tea with my neighbour.
5) Walked to the pub with my sons. Saw my old school friend's mum on the way there.0 -
Parsonswife - love the photo of a typical OS MSE household complete with non-violent weaponery!
My five for Friday:
1. After over an hour of free time wandering round the shops, I came away with 3 onions (since I've run out and need to make and freeze some ratatouille using up our courgette glut and a random aubergine) and some strawberries (reduced) for DS2's breakfast smoothies - couldn't find anything else I wanted or needed!!! I really feel as if I've got our shopping under control.
2. Much needed proper afternoon nap.
3. Listening to DSs laughing their heads off while they were watching something on the telly.
4. Last night's cheese and spud bake tasted even nicer tonight and the green beans with it were really good too.
5. I've got the clean kitchen thing sussed as well. I want to cook and keep organised when everything is clean and tidy. I've only been following (American version not MSE) Flylady for about 8 yearsand it's taken this long to get to the point where I've got a shiny sink and a put away kitchen to wake up to every day without fail and it really does work. I'm feeling very pleased with myself about it.
Sleep well everyone.
