Nice to see you back, Broomstick.
1) Bought a lovely silk headscarf at the charity shop for £2. I used to have a similar one in my fleece pocket for windy days but it's disappeared and it's taken me ages to find another nice one at a nice price.
2) Stuffed an allotment marrow and we ate it for tea. I'm afraid to say it was still a little watery, so it will be chutney if there is another one but it's nice to try something different. Found some stewed apple in the freezer for a crumble.
3) Reading the shaggy dog story https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2636903. Tea was late because I was crying with laughter on the sofa.
4) Had a fire this evening and burned some of the creeper we removed from the house when we first moved in. I loved the waving leaves in front of the windows when we arrived but this is a square house. You can't make it look like a country cottage.
5) Still have quite a few books to get through on the borrowed book shelf. It seems much easier to read one that someone else has recommended and it stretches me a bit.0 -
Hope you had a good day zara. I'd prefer the view from your sitting room window too
Oh dear Ladyhawk, hope the engineer didn't tease you too much. Well done on the 2nd square, I don't know where you get the time to fit all you do into your day :T
Good that you got your car back CCP, and saved yourself a soaking. The rain can be a pain but as you said, it saves having to water. It's nice to look forward to everything growing but watering can be a chore after a while
Sounds like your son had a great day ACEY, and the bike place is an excellent idea. Your cat certainly likes to use up lives, I hope her adventures are over for a while now
Welcome back Broomstick . Well done on the meal plan, and the £1 a day which I've not heard of before, it sounds like a great idea. Sensible too as fuel bills are constantly on the rise.
Congrats on finding the bargain headscarf Patchwork. Shame about the watery marrow, I love them stuffed but chutney is a good alternative. Have just skimmed the first couple of pages of the shaggy dog story and the whole thing is going to be my bedtime reading tonight

1. Managed to fill a big supermarket trolley bag with food from my store, and topped it off with 6 loo rolls :rotfl:.With 5 of us including 2 boys I doubt I'll come back with any...why do they keep pulling it off when we ladies manage perfectly well with a sensible amount?
2. Day 3 of eating plan and still going well...a miracle for me! I've got Paul McKenna's book/cd which I'll read when I get back from holiday. I'll certainly need it by then
3. Postie brought me a £10 voucher for doing surveys, and a great deal for breakdown cover which I'll hang on to for when it's renewal time
4. The lovely rain watered the garden and washed the dust off the car for me, I won't have to pay to get it valeted now as I used the chamois to clean it off when the rain stopped. That gives us another £8 spending money
5. Met with some friends this evening, I don't know what was in the lemon and ginger tea but we were in fits of giggles, nearly got thrown out of the restaurant
Night night, sweet dreams

Morning
Pleasures for yesterday:
1. Walked to work yesterday as missed the bus so saved myself £2 also walked home from work so was healthy and money saving
2. Needed the money saving of walking as this one defineltly isn't MSE. I booked tickets for DD and me to see the help for heroes concert next month. Well I really couldn't pass up on Robbie Williams being on my doorstep:D. OH declined the invite to come so that saved a bit of money.
3. Knowing I had the money for the above as didn't spend as much on parents party as budgeted so all cost covered. I love MSE it has turned my life around where money is concerned in the last year.:money:
4. OH was supposed to be taking me out to dinner but he was really tired after a manic day at work so he ordered a takeaway for us so I didn't have to cook
5. Catching up with some work friends on a different floor of the buidling that I don't see very often these days.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Happy Anniversary zarazara & mr zarazara!
Ladyhawk: he has taken the 5th Kyu in Aikido (we met through Aikido 23 years ago, he was an orange belt and I was a beginner, he threw me ever so gently so I got stroppy and asked him to throw me harder - that captured his heart and here we are!). He had to stop the Aikido we were doing together after I had the twins (I needed help around the clock for the first year!). So he started again another style a few years ago and only takes 1 grading a year, different stuff, so he is doing it again back from scratch. But he loves it. Alas I no longer do it because I am not as fit as I used to be, and also I do not want to impinge on his space - me going to his Aikido class would be as if he came to my knitting group!
Hope to make it in time to put my pleasures before the forum closes for refurbishment:
1 - Had a lovely dinner with DD, DS, DD's BF and a group of friends yesterday to celebrate my birthday (which is today but we celebrated it yesterday for practical purposes).
2 - Great prezzies!
3 - Great friends!
4 Great family!
5 - Weather fab on my birthday day!
6 - Today going out with DD for lunch!
7 - I love my life and am grateful every second for what I have!
Love to all xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
A very Happy birthday to you Caterina.
:bdaycake:Felines are my favourite

Hi everyone! :hello:
Happy Birthday, Caterina! Hope you have a lovely day. What you said about you and OH, i.e. not impinging on his space is so right - a very healthy attitude and I agree 100%. I think in relationships it is very important and healthy to have other interests, it really rounds us out as people - and gives us lots of interesting things to talk about!
Speaking of OHs, my pleasures for yesterday revolve almost entirely around my hubbyHe took me out on an amazing date last night :A
- The thrill of getting all dressed up for my date
- The surprise and :T of being taken to a v posh restaurant!
- The starter (scallops)
- The main course (pork)
- The dessert (cheese
)
- The champagne
:D
- The quality time and lovely chat
- Getting the bus home and playing the movie quotes game
- The bus arriving 2 mins after I arrived at the stop
- My friend in work having given me 2 pages of advice and suggestions from his lovely wife for my new veg garden - so thoughtful of them
Yippeeee! I can't wait for her to arrive!! :j
Right, better do some work for a change!
Have a brilliant day everyone

:bdaycake:0 -
aww mse your back i was worried when my page whouldnt load..
happy belated birthday caterina hope you had a fab day, and wee-jo a date with hubby sounds wonderful! I think people don't tend to do that much once they have had kids because ive found when someone babys sits (my mum for free) its usually because we are going out to a friends birthday or wedding etc..perhaps we ought to start having more time alone together as a couple!
ok my 5 pleasures so far
1..taking my two sons to the libary to pick some new books up and picking one up for me too..a dr who one lol
2..finding a frog in the garden ..i do love them so
3..finding out that after paying for eggs, stamps and fruit i had a few pennys left over to buy both my sons an adorbale handknit bunny at the farmers market they where just 80p each (i have no idea how she makes any money!) and they havent stopped hugging them yet
4..nice weather today to hang the washing out ..then im going to sit outside
5..after 5 days of no accients from my son i think its safe to say we are potty trained ..yay..i love his weeny little pants lol so cute

an early post today as I'm hoping to get an early night, rather than sit up as I usually do, burning the midnight oil and writing my 5
:bdaycake: Caterina Many, Many Happy Returns of the Day, hope it's a lovely day for you and you get all you wish for yourself, and more
I absolutely agree Jo, short periods of time apart with your own interests are often beneficial, and give you something to talk about other than 'what shall we have for dinner' or 'petrol's gone up again' etc. Your date sounds lovely, yum to scallops , so morish
My 5...
1. I have the car serviced every MoT but because of the trip tomorrow, I asked last week how much a intermediate service would cost at a local garage, he said £50/60 . This morning I went to a local car parts emporium, the sort with old wooden floors and goes back miles, full of wonderful things I'd thought weren't even made any more. I asked for a litre of oil, the man checked my car, poured the oil in, check the auto transmission fluid, even the washer reservoir, then looked up tyre pressures and told me of a local garage where they'll do it for me. (I can do these things myself but if they want to, I'll let them)...total cost, £4.95. I'll definitely be using them again!
2. Have used up everything perishable over the past couple of days, there's just enough for an eggy mayo sandwich tonight and a few cuppas. I usually have to give loads to DNeighbour but she's out of luck this time
3. Postie brought me a mascara to trial. Coincidentally my DGD had asked me a couple of days ago if I had one spare, she knows I buy them from my neighbour who has a cosmetics round. When I've sent in my report she can have that one
4. Gave the dog a good groom with the furminator, he's all smart and tidy, and I'm covered in his coat!
5 Did I say I'm going to take 4 DGC to Morecambe tomorrow?
Will be back in about 10 days. Stay safe, love and hugs to all
