Here are my pleasures for yesterday:
- Taking my first bag of unwanted clutter to the charity shop, whilst I was there I set up gift aid on my donations.
- Finding big punnets of strawberrys for 89p in the greengrocer, which leads me too...
- Making my first batch of strawberry jam :j. I made 4 jars, it set well and tastes good!
- Greengrocer also had 2kg bags of pears 50p each, so did a bit of research and decided if they still have some left, I will get some and preserve them in spiced syprup.
- Having a good day.
Its a flying visit today as I have a hospital appointment in an hour, wish me luck.

Hi all
Sneaking in quickly while working from home to touch base and wish you all well, and to add a few random pleasures:
1 - OS outing went really well, had a great time even if I had to abandon the happy company before the end of the day as I had to go somewhere in the afternoon
2 - Managed to print the Eurostar tickets to take DD to Paris in a few days time
3 - Got 30% voucher for Bertorelli restaurant via email, so I can take my birthday party of friends there tomorrow and not spend a fortune (relatively!).
4 - My work is still ok, interesting and flexible (look, working from home today doing research - better hurry up and get back to work!).
5 - Last but not least, DH passed his martial arts grading (we are all very proud of him, but I did not doubt it for a minute!). Missing him while he is away but I am delighted he is having a good time and doing a bit of male bonding with members of other clubs, doing the macho thing, which he would not be able to do if I was in tow, sniffing and sneering hehehe
Love to all xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hi everyone! :hello:
Haven't been able to post in a few days as I was a bit unwell yesterday, but back on top form todaySo I will do a round up of my OS pleasures for the past few days:
- Having a lovely look around Camden Market with hubby
- Trying some yummy Polish food at the market
- Lovely long walk along the canal
- Trying a new recipe - I made stuffed aubergines and they were goooooood
- Lie in on Sunday
- Hubby surprising me with 2 treats - hair appointment (tonight) and meal out (tomorrow night) :j
How is everyone doing?

Evening all.
Please excuse the miserable face, but my car went in for its MOT today - it failed and will take two days and £250 ish to repair.
Anyway, pleasures:
1) Walked home rather than getting the bus - much cheaper and healthier.
2) NSD.
3) Picked my first chilli to let it ripen inside, and found it's just starting to change colour.
4) Because of the cost of repairing my car, money's going to be a bit tight later in the month. I sat down this evening and prepared a meal plan for the next three weeks which uses almost entirely stuff from my stores, and should mean I don't have to dip into my new sofa fund if I want to eat.
5) Received an email about a special survey I'd forgotten all about, and will pay £3 if I finish it. Every little helps, as the advert says!
Wee_Jo - sorry to hear you've been feeling unwell, and I'm glad you're better now. Have a lovely time with your mum - it sounds like you've got some really nice things planned.
Caterina - glad your job's going OK now, and :T to your DH.
mollythewestie - hope your hospital appointment went OK. Your plan for spiced peaches sounds
Emm-in-a-pickle - have a lovely few days off - it sounds like you deserve them.
sparrer - thanks for your thoughts on the parking space problem. I often feel quite petty making a fuss about it, and have to remind myself that I pay for the space, so I should get to use it.Good luck with losing weight - it sounds like you're on the right track to me.
Kitchenbunny - I'm glad you managed to find some pleasures, and hope you enjoyed your chicken - it sounds lovely!
Ladyhawk - I just had to click on that link, and there's some lovely looking mogs on there. Mine came from the CPL originally - what one of my colleagues refers to as 'a second-hand cat'. I look forward to hearing about your new kitty, if you decide to get one.
Have a nice evening, everyone.Back after a very long break!0 -
yesterdays 5. Only post on here when its been an extra special day!!
1. Beach
2. Grandparents
3. Grandchildren
4. Swims
5. Picnics.
Yes, me and the old man had a day on the beach with the Grandkiddies. BLISS.Away with the fairies.... Back soon0 -
Evening all,
Hope your Tuesday has been tremendous!
Sparrer - well done on your excerise class... I really should do some excersise but sadly I am jut too lazy!
Caterina - glad you are still enjoying work. And congrat to your DH on his grading. What grade is he now? Linked my comment to Sparrer... I really should get back into jiu jitsu training...
CCP - I was reminded at 3am when Felix woke me up by vomitting up a furball that maybe I don't want another cat! I really am torn about it - there are so many moggies that need a nice new home but I am not sure if I can go through the heartbreak of losing another one.
1) Left work early to go to a meeting in London
2) Finished my first knitted square for my blanket and am halfway through the second one.
3) NSD despite not having lunch! and popping into John Lewis onthe way home to look at wool.
4) Completing the challenging" sodoku puzzle in the metro today. I am normally an intermedite level so I was pleased with that.
5) Will finish my book at bedtime - Belle Du Jour. I love her books and find them very amusing... not for the faint hearted though!
I have decided that the bites are bites but I can't for the life of me work out what is causing them. The are not in a line so can't be bedbugs. I haven't seen any mozzies or fleas about either. Or anything else nasty.... any ideas?
Anyway have a wonderful Wednesday
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening
Pleasures for today:
1. Pecan danish for breakfast not very healthy but yummy and only cost 25p:money:
2. Bit of excitement at work, watched a man climb through a house window across the road from the office so called the police. They came out very quickly (I was still on the phone to them) two cars lights flashing, 4 big police men. Turned out the guy lived there and had forgotten his key:eek:. Pleasure in this is know the police have a quick response and they told me I had done the right thing. Oops:D
3. New gadget for the kitchen arrived today. Decided to order a soda stream (bit of a blast back to the 80's) as we tend to drink lots of sparkling water so means I don't have to carry heavy bottles back from the supermarket. Plus only cost £29 thanks to MSE:money:
4. Sat drinking chilled sparkling water whilst typing
5. Yummy dinner of curry not takeaway so cheaper than planned meal tonight
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Good news! My neighbour downstairs has said she'd be delighted if I re-work the planters in the front garden!! So that's another little task for me and Mum this weekend...can't wait! I am thinking a few pretty things but mostly herbs and some hardy lettuce types to start us offLBM 04/05/10 :T DEBT FREE 30/07/10 :j I made it!CHALLENGES: 0 bought lunches June or JulyAug SoL: 15/21 June NSDs: 11/14 July NSDs 12/11 :j Aug NSDs: 5/12 Savings target: £500/50000

1) Spent the morning at the allotment and harvested enough veggies for this week, including potatoes.
2) Took DD out for the afternoon. I admit we had lunch out but we were fairly frugal and I told myself that these opportunities seem to be getting few and far between. This was actually her treat for her help and advice on my OU course this year.
3) Made some lemon curd tarts from left over pastry. Being gluten-free, they were rather fragile but we had fun eating them.
4) DH fixed the handle on the freezer door.
5) Just about to settle down to some patchwork. I am determined to finish my green and gold quilt this year. All the white squares have come from DH's worn out shirts, half of the greens came from a clear out of resources at school (and of course, I was straight in there) and the rest came from three fat quarters (it's a measure of fabric - very small rectangle) of Klimt-inspired fabric from the craft shop.0 -
