morning
Pleasures for yesterday:
1. Having the house to myself for an hour in the morning total peace
2. Text from DD thanking me for some Euros we had sent her for a trip to Bruges this week with my mum. I wish she was this nice when she's at home;)
3. Wander around Lakeland, not MSE as I did give in to tempation and bought a few bits:eek:
4. Meeting OH in Windsor for fish and chips and managed to pick up a voucher that someone was handing out in the high street for 10% off
5. Also picked up a few bits in Past Times as the shop in Windsor is closing and everything is reduced (sorry they are to put away for Christmas, far too early to be mentioning that word I know)
Not looking forward to today as friends DH funeral so may not be back today with pleasures.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Morning all,
Here are saturdays pleasures:
- Dh did a few odd jobs for his nan and took her to the shops.
- We started the mammoth task of decluttering the study, which had become a general dumping ground for all our junk.
- Found a £10 M&S giftcard whilst clearing out the study :j
- DH found some old office storage in the loft that I thought had been thrown away long ago. So we now can at least attempt keeping ontop of the filing.
- DH getting our grocery shopping and not buying any cakes/crisps/chocolate/pastries, but buying lots of healthy nuts and fruit to snack on.
Sundays pleasures:
- Slow cooking a pork shoulder that I am going to stretch into as many meals as possible. DH has already made a couple of portions of spicy beans with shredded pork and I am going to make a pork lasagne. The rest I will use in special fried rice, stir frys and wraps for lunches.
- More decluttering of the study - we can now see the floor! :j:D
- Finding time to do lots of reading, I finished one book and starting my new library book.
- No sunday lunch to cook, DH made turkey salad sandwiches instead.
- Getting some bits together for the charity shop, throwing away junk and recycling old magazines. I am a such a hoarder normally and can't bare to part with anything.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set
Debt free thanks to MSE0 -

3..will be taking the boys to the park after lunch and to watch the boats on the estery .
4..more crochet and maybe time for a quick instant knit i need to make a coffee pot cover
5.left over beef casserole from friday warmed up with a large cheese bap..ummmm
have a great day all xxxtotal debt 4711.00 at lbm (4217.31) dfd aug 2012  overdraft 800 (400.00) kill overdraft first, loan 1500.00 ,creditcard 2411.000 -
1) De-weeded the round strawberry bed (I didn't know what else to put in it) and dug up the plastic and gravel in the border around the bottom of it so that I can fit yet more strawberry plants in that. Strange to think that all the strawberries on the allotment and two beds full at home came from twelve runners that my next-door-allotment neighbour passed over the fence.
2) Tesco vouchers came so I used them to re-stock the snow cupboard at the top of the pantry. It's only a small space but we have the basics now.
3) Went for a check up at the GP and still have low blood pressure but why do their scales add half a stone to ours?
4) Both DD and DS are in today so had a nice long chat at lunch. DS is now glued to a game that he lent to a friend some time ago and has only just got back. DD has been making cards. That's my girl!
5) Risotto for tea from stretchy chicken stock, with salad from the lettuce explosion in the pots at the back. I don't think I'll grow it on the ground again. It was well worth it - I used a large pot that a fruit tree had come in, some bought compost and a tiny amount of seeds from a free packet that someone on another forum had recommended.0 -
Evening all.
My five for today:
1) I'm getting my new kitchen floor on Friday. :j I didn't get any say in the new surface, though, so I just hope the landlord's picked a design I'm going to like.
2) The manager of the company I let my flat through has promised to put up a sign asking people not to steal my allocated parking space - my car spent the weekend two streets away as I couldn't get in.
3) Had a 'catch-up meeting' with a work colleague this morning. I'm still not sure whether to be pleased or disappointed that the cafe we went to doesn't sell home-made cakes.
4) Counted up my spare change and I have £33 to take to the bank later this week. :j
5) I haven't felt hungry all day so I'm going to have a steak sarnie for dinner rather than the curry I'd planned.
Have a nice evening, everyone.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening all,
Hope everyone is well on this marvelous Monday.
1) Left work early to wait in for the Virgin engineer who was coming to fix my phone... needless to say it was in vain as he did not tip up. Nice to be home early though!
2) NSD... well kind of... I did pay for my accommodation fr a friend's wedding in October... The main point is that I had lunch at home and was not lured into the shops to buy anything.
3) Pottered around in the garden this evening. I planted out some brassicas of some description and realised that there was 3 lots of oregano in the pot that I bought last week for £1... so a bargain 33p each!
4) Am making progress on the first square for my blanket - in fact it is nearly done.
5) Looking at the adopt-a-cat page on www.cats.org.uk... I am so tempted to get another kitty especially since there are so many out there that need a good home.
Nighty night everyone and looking forward to a terrific Tuesday.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Been a while since I had any pleasures to report, but here goes:
1. Chicken done in the slow cooker. Mmm.
2. Using up my toiletries and noticing improvements in skin, etc.
3. Going through town to pick something up after work and still being able to get on the same bus home.
4. I won a lippy in that Flake competition.
5. Ordered a new piece of evenweave for my next cross stitch project - a cheetah.
Have a nice evening, everyone!

Thanks for that Patchwork, I did try freecycle a couple of weeks ago but seems the world and his brother are asking for them atm. I'm going to wait til off-season, see if I have any more luck then. Old ones would be best as it's a country garden feel but if need be I'll just have to buy new ones and paint them with yogurt
. When my DD lived at home we did what you and your DD have done, now she has DD's of her own history is repeating itself! Your GP must get his scales from the same place mine does
Thinking of you Tealady. Pleased you got to have a wander around Windsor, it's changed quite a bit since I lived in Maidenhead but still just as nice to explore
Well done on the gift card find mollie, they're always useful. Good job on the decluttering too, something I think most of us dread but always have a feeling of satisfaction when you've finished
Pleased you got good weather noynoy, I put out and took in the laundry twice before I gave up and dried in on the airer  The estuary is lovely isn't it? My nephew lives near it, I went there for the first time a couple of years ago and thought it a really pretty area
Hope you like the new flooring when it arrives CCP. Good for the agent being willing to help out, there's nothing more  making than people parking in your space. Lol at the cafe, I so know what you mean!
I look at that site quite often Ladyhawk, even though I have two horrors from CPL already. I also look at GSD rescue sites, but know full well I don't have the room for one any more. Congrats on the triple coriander, my favourite herb. What a bargain :T
I love your signature Kitchenbunny. Congrats on the lippy, nice one. Chicken done in the sc sounds yummy, in fact anything in the sc is yummy
My 5
1. Went to exercise class this morning, been getting on really well these last few times but now I have a four week break in which I have to discipline myself - or try, anyway
2. Coffee and lunch with DD and the 2 DGD's. DGS was out earning money now he has a part time job in the holidays
3. Came home and did another 30 mins exercise, I really do have to lose all the weight I've put on since I retired. Felt better for it, but my siesta was quite a lot longer than usual!
4. dinner was a little shredded chicken, baby plum tomatoes and finely sliced celery stir fried and added to pasta from the freezer. Only used half the amount I normally would and still felt full afterwards
5. Did the ironing while watching one of my Riverdance dvds
night night sleep tight

Patchwork, I loved your post. Thanks for the reference. I rarely get to Church, but enjoy WORKING Sundays on the ward as I feel I`m serving, He`s there too, of course. I rarely get to hear a good sermon, but I could deliver one right now! But I won`t. Have a lot of `down` stuff on my mind, staffing levels, NHS priorities, could type here for a week and not have said it all. However... this is a positive thread, for which I`m GLAD.
My five -
1) I overslept this morning, got to work just in time but feeling grotty and rushed. Night staff were eager to leave...and did so, but then my joy in my job kicked in. We were short-staffed, but all mutually supportive. Thank God for a good team working together, however diminished and pushed, when folks help each other and muck in.
2) Much as I love my job, getting AWAY from it this afternoon, collecting my DGD on the way, and 2 days off now, Real Life kicks in. Cooked and washed and mopped and hoovered this evening. Did pork steaks in cider/green beens/carrots/baby pots, all cheapies from farm shop on way home via picking up GDG. WELL Chuffed with compliments about the supper, no false modesty, it was GOOD!
3) Kitchen & living room now look like someone lives here and cleans occasionally! Dog is chilled since hoover taken upstairs for my bash tomorrow...I even made a small fire in the grate to dry the mats I washed, dog lying by the embers looking like a beached seal...
4)I LOVE my new Fridge. (tall larder, Comet were great, thanks to folks here who advised about the fridge thing.) Rearranging a kitchen to accommodate it is an ongoing thing, but it`s so GOOD to open the fridge and see what`s there, not shuffle stuff around every time you open the door jostling for space.
5) Anticipation. Much a I love my job, I`ll enjoy NOT doing it for the next couple of days. Not that I wish to be idle, but Tomorrow, as well as washing, cooking and shopping, I shall MUCK OUT the bedrooms. I anticipate this with some pleasure. I am no Flylady. After a couple of days trying to get my house in order I`ll be glad to get the heck out of here and back to work!!!0
