KittikinS: your poor mum, I am really sorry.
I hope you get the vermin situation sorted too!
Tealady: Please what does YS mean? Well done your daughter!
Shadowsfall: I am worrying about not knowing what those methods of stopping worrying are already, lol I must admit I am thinking of trying relaxation techniques-have got a DVD but have been putting off watching it so far!
Sparrer: glad you had a great catch up wth your friend, and what a fab haul at MrMs. (And what is YS again?!)
Kitchenbunny: Your are so lucky to have such a fab mum and dad! I hope they were able to help when you felt tearful earlier. I really miss my parents, they live hours away and we only get together a couple of times a year. ( long story...)
Well here are mine:
1. A very efficient trip into town, the post office and bank and so on. Managed not to spend anything (the post office cost was already paid by ebay) so another NSD! :j
2. Did lots of flyladying again, getting into it and can already see the benefit. Home feels more in control.
3. OH went out on two small jobs today. He's a self employed electrician and work has been very slow so any job (however small) is a Godsend.
4. The garden is looking really pretty, lots of roses in bloom and pretty peonies too.
5. OH has just passed me a strawberry thorntons chocolate- yummy, and especially good as it was in a 99p misshapes bag from home bargains yesterday!
Have a great evening everyone!0 -
Gingersnap - YS is yellow sticker or reduced. Know waht you mean about jobs for your OH mine is an electrican as well and work is very slow for him too.0

Ah, the end of another day. Odd, but it has felt like Thursday all day today. Weird. Anyway, here's my pleasures for today:
1. Finding DH's shower gel on better than half price in Mr Ms and picking up a couple. I've stashed them in the wardrobe and will either use them as pressies or when he needs them they'll just miraculously "appear"
2. Picking up a block of chocolate for myself and rationing it. I'm telling myself only a couple of squares a day, but since dark chocolate is considered good for you in some places ... health food
3. Planning myself a batch cooking day. We'll be defrosting the freezer at some point this weekend so I'll do an inventory then, but I'm planning to batch cook a lot of ready meals after that so I don't have to cook a full meal in hot weather. a) assuming we have a summer of hot weather and b) that I can get the time off and the day I want to take off isn't extremely hot
4. Doing a little bit more yoga every day. It makes me feel stronger and leaner. I shall keep up the good work!
5. I powerwalked to work this morning from the station. I did get to work out of breath, but I'm trying to be healthy.
Oh, this weather is so draining. I can't stand it when it's so overcast and muggy, and rain isn't promised for our area until Friday so tomorrow is going to be a sticky one. Yuck. Still, back home now and looking forward to a tin of soup for tea - a nice easy one for me tonight.
Gingersnap - Here's to OH getting some more work in. And soon!
Kittikins - I hope the vermin situation gets sorted quickly. ((hugs))
Tealady - the chow mein sounds lovely. Did you follow a recipe in particular?
Shadowsfall - I love dreams like that. I can't remember the last time I dreamt, but I know it would have had water in. I always seem to dream of water.
Sparrer - Got to love the summer rain! When we had a massive downpour yesterday, I wanted to go and stand in it. Cue my colleagues looking at me strangely
(((hugs))) to those in need of a pick me up.
KB xx

Have a good evening everyone.0 -

Evening everyone,
Got back from the fjords all in one piece - what a breathtakingly beautiful part of the world. As a seafood supplier was hosting me, we ate fish at every meal so I am really glad to be home to enjoy a nice plain bowl of pasta and HM tomato sauce.
1) Fantastic time in Norway... loved it! But it was sooooo expensive (glad I didn't have to pay for anything and it did earn me 4 NSDs). I was bought a mozzerella and tomato roll and a fresh orange juice at the airport which cost £11!!!!!!!
2) Coming home to my boys... though the copious amounts of vomit and hairballs weren't such a pleasure
3) Give a fabulous new backpack and fleece by the supplier. The fleece turned out to be particularly useful when we went out on the fishing boat.
4) Finishing my book - I had to ration it while I was away so that I would have something to read on the way home (which took over 12 hours!!) and I finished it on the bus back to the long term parking.
5) Getting my long term parking for a fraction of what everyone else paid (thanks MSE!)
The not so great things about the last 4 days... my hangover this morning... the traffic on the way back from Heathrow... and being asked to join a conference call as it was starting and not having all the background information with me, and then being introduced as the expert in the area. This was not condusive to me making much sense and probably coming across as a real idiot! Oh well c'est la vie.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -

Good afternoon all. I hope you've all had as nice a day as I have - if you haven't, I'm really sorry if I sound smug, but it's been so nice today.
ETA - hang on, there's been a couple more posts:
ralloctiger - I'm sorry you're struggling to think of pleasures. E-hugs for you, and I hope you feel more pleasurable tomorrow.
Ladyhawk - welcome back! I'm glad you had a nice time, despite the confusion over the conference call. I'm sure you came across better than you thought you did.
nuttybabe - your cooking sounds lovely. I really must try Twinks one of these days, given how much everyone raves about them.
Ginger Snap - I'm glad to hear your OH has got a couple of jobs. My sister's partner is in a similar line of work (well, sort of - he's a plasterer) and he's had real problems recently too. He's just got a big contract, though - a whole house (and a Surrey house at that, so it's huge) - so I really hope something similarly good comes through for your OH soon. I hope your DD enjoys her trip over to the IOW.
Kittikins - Vermin - poor you! I love small furry things but most definitely not in the house, so I hope you get rid of them very soon.
savingforoz - the pygmy goats were very cute indeed.I even got to feed one as it was refusing to let a group of kids out of the feeding area (it wasn't being nasty - it just stood in front of the gate and refused to move as it knew they had food), so I had to tempt it out of the way to let them escape.
sparrer - I didn't know you had connections with the Island too. Can I ask whereabouts? My parents live in West Wight, about as far west as you can get without falling off the end of the island.
MissisP - welcome! I'm sorry you had a bad experience on another board - please be assured that unpleasantness of any sort very rarely happens on the OS board, and never on this thread (in my experience anyway), so I really hope you stick around here where it's safe.:D
My five (or possibly more) for today:
1) I had to stay at home this morning as I had my meat delivery coming. Luckily the sun came out and I spent the morning in the garden - 80% of my flowers and veg are now planted out, and I only stopped there as I'd run out of pots to put things in!
2) My delivery came just before lunch, and turned out to include a rather nice freebie of a pack of FR chicken legs.It also included a badly damaged pack of steak burgers - the company assured me they'd be fine to eat, but they'll also send me some replacements. Very nice!
3) Popped to Waitrose to do some shopping, as I haven't been for a couple of weeks. I spent slightly more than I intended but got some good bargains, including a small beef joint RTC to £4, which will be great for lunches when I go back to work next week.
4) With the combination of 2 and 3, my freezer's now fully stocked again. I just don't feel comfortable with an empty freezer, somehow.(sparrer - it's still around on freesmileys.org if you want it.
)
5) My cat's reaction when I got back from the shops. You'd think I'd been gone for weeks, rather than an hour!
6) My grandmother's coming out of hospital on Friday. The hospital (or council? I'm not sure how it works, tbh) is putting together a care package for her so she can stay in her own home, which is great.
7) My sister's boss has very kindly offered to let me have a look round the historic building she works in. It's not normally open to the public, so it's really very good of him to let me in just because I like old buildings.
8) Really nice dinner tonight - courgette and bacon pasta bake (after years of trying, I've finally discovered a way to cook courgettes that I actually like :j), followed by fruit salad (I managed to salvage all of my fruit except for the pears, which had gone rotten) and some Turkish baklava (reduced to clear in my local Asian food shop - I only went in to get gram flour, but I couldn't resist cheap baklava!).
Right, I must stop wittering smugly on, and go and check on said dinner.
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
A very quick 5 from me, as NCIS is on soon.:-)
1. Anticipating NCIS with MIchael Weatherley and Mark Harmon
2. Getting a definite moving in date for my new lodger.
3. Making contact with someone who will hopefully cart some of my old furniture away.
4. Shredding more old paperwork so there's less to put into storage.
5. Crossing a couple of things off my "to do before lodger arrives" list.
Right, off to go drool at some hot men...Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
wassal00, as yiou haven't posted in the last couple of days, I hope it's only 'cause your consultant kept you in (huggs Woggle)
