My five for yesterday before I go to work
    1. Managing to finish my backlog of washing now just the normal amount!
    2. Lovely walks with the dog and the sun out and took time to appreciate the views and listen to the birds. Best relaxation that I have found.
    3. Everybody enjoying the chicken dish I cooked for tea.
    4. Having homemade brownie with my coffee sitting in the sun.
    5. Blitzed the housework downstairs and is still looking good.

    Hi All,

Will post this quick while I have a chance. I keep catching up on reading posts, then not having time to do my own. This time I will do it the other way round!

Welcome back from your hols Peeps - sounds like you have all had a good time.

Back to school yesterday :(. Don't feel I have done anything very 'holidayish' for the last week, so a bit miffed to be back so soon!! Seem to have spent a lot of time doing school stuff:mad:

    Must have some recent pleasures........

    1. Trip up to Chester for DD to visit Uni open day. She liked it, so good start. DH and DS2 got to go round the town, but DD and I didn't have time as we were carrying on to visit DM.

    2. Visits to DM are usually a trial, but she was in a good mood this time. Drove out to Southport and had cream tea in MrM for £1 each.:money: MrM is really near the Esplanade and you can reclaim the parking, so that worked well as DM can't or won't walk very far!!

    3. Lots of washing done and line dried, so baskets emptier at the mo.

    4. Veg patch has potatoes, but little else. Could be carrot seedlings, could be creeping buttercup showing?!?

    5. DD focused on swimming as her coach has been encouraging her to aim high. V proud mummy.

Have a lovely day. HE x

A quick 5 from me for yesterday:

    1. Phoning my prospective tenant's current landlord and getting a glowing reference for her from him.

    2. Taking another load of stuff to the tip for recycling.

    3. Ticking off another couple of items on my "to get done before lodger moves in" list.

    4. Yummy spicy bean and vegetable pasta for tea.

    5. Finishing work early at 2.30pm - always good.

    6. Very good day at work - got lots done.

    Have a good day, everyone.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Anyone else love it when it rains like this? Ok so sitting warm and cosy at your lesuire rather than being at work would be best, it's still kinda mysterious out there...

Reminds me of being in little school looking out the windows - I was a daydreamer.

And a one, two... a one, two, three:

    1. I am very proud of myself for yesterday's foodie achievements! I had a shake for breakfast and lunch with only tiny healthy snacks between. The pride comes from feeling happy about it! I used to feel poo without 'entertaining' food to eat. Seems I can feel good eating less now :p
    2. OH made a lovely chicken salad with mushrooms for dinner and it was a treat.
    3. Helped OH with the massive pile of washing up his housemates had left (how lovely of them!) and we had fun doing it together.
    4. Watched an unexpectedly funny film Grosse Point Blank yesterday over dinner. :rotfl:
    5. My nails have grown to a lovely length and I'm going to PYNT to ensure they remain!
    6. Bought some dried apple slices for snacks today so I continue with the good food behaviour!
    7. Realised worrying makes you older. I shall worry less and relax more.
    8. I feel quite a bit more organised since joining this thread/site and being very aware of my money, time, energy etc. Tis grand.
    9. I'm all by myself this morning and it's very peaceful :)
    10. I will soon be listening to some lovely meditation music on my iPod - great to know I can at work.

Hope you all have a lovely day

Hi all, forgot to post yesterday, so here they are:

    1. Being back at work wasn't too gruesome ;)
    2. Had a gym induction at lunchtime and didn't want to collapse afterwards!
    3. DD went to a friend to play whilst I was at work, saving me childminder money
    4. Spent some of my luncheon vouchers from doing a survey to get us a nice YS cauliflower, yum yum
    5. DD stayed for dinner at another friend's, I took over a bottle of wine and we put the world to rights whilst the children ran around happily
    6. Friend gave me some leftover salad bits they weren't going to us, so my dinner was sorted too!
    7. Enjoyed watching Mary Queen of shops on TV last night, the baker was such a stick in the mud wasn't she?! I know some of it must have been put on to make "great telly" but really, some people really know how to bite the hand that is trying to help them!

Right, time to tackle Tuesday, yawn!

Morning, hope all are well. :)
    Yesterdays pleasures:

    - Getting some clothes washed. But only managed to catch an hour of dry weather to dry them though. (Unfortunately it looks like I will have to put tumble dryer on today to do the rest :()
    - Vacuumed and cleaned the living room, it now looks lovely and clean.
    - One of my favourite teas - YS lamb marinated in herbs with vegatable cous cous, also made a yoghurt and mint dip to go with it.
    - DH bringing home fruit scones, not very diet friendly but scrummy!
    - Finding some travel size free samples of baby shampoo, nappy cream and baby bath stuff that I got at a baby show last year. They will be perfect to take on holiday and I had completely forgotton about them!

  • For yesterday...

    1. Making a scrummy cake for my aunties birthday and everyone coming back for seconds.
    2. Finding £5 in the pocket of a leather jacket I've just sold on ebay
    3. Selling the above jacket for £120!
    4. Cuddles with my boyfriend before he went to work
    5. Reading about making sourdough and getting really excited about giving it a go.

Good afternoon all - I'm back! :hello: I haven't had a chance to catch up on everyone's posts yet, so I hope you're all well. From the posts I have read:

wssla00 - I hope your lungs are OK (or at least OK-ish) today. E-hugs are heading in your direction.

Shadowsfall - thank you so much for mentioning Grosse Point Blank - it was always one of my favourite films, but I lost my copy last time I moved house and never got round to buying a new one. I've got some vouchers from surveys sitting around at the moment so I might treat myself now you've reminded me.

My pleasures for the past few days:

    1) Visited Mottisfont House and gardens with my DM - highly recommended if you like roses (which I do :)).
    2) Had a pleasant drive back through the Hampshire countryside, even if the drive was rather longer than intended (I think we should have turned left rather than right! :o)
    3) Went to Staunton Country Park the next day - my DM liked it more than I did, but the pygmy goats were cute and we got 2 for 1 entry, so I can't complain. (I'll save the complaining for the obnoxious bus driver who watched us go for change then drove off with a smirk as we were walking back 30 seconds later.)
    4) Lovely dinner in a nearly empty Italian restuarant - we couldn't work out why it was so quiet when the food's so good and everywhere else was packed.
    5) Went over to the Isle of Wight to visit my parents for their local town fete.
    6) The fete was excellent and I only (only! ;):o) bought two new pairs of earrings - they were both styles I've been wanting for ages, though, so I don't feel too :o about it.
    7) Also acquired a pair of photos of my favourite view on the IOW - one in winter, one in summer - which I've been looking for for years and will look lovely in my living room.
    8) Found a lovely RTC rose in my parent's local garden centre, very like a miniature version of one I was admiring at Mottisfont last week - it cost me all of £2.50 because it has a mild case of blackspot, which is easily treated.
    9) And my DM gave me some slug-repelling copper rings for my new hostas - none too soon, either, as one is currently out of stock of leaves. Darn snails!

And my five for today (to get me back into the swing of things :)):

    1) Got a lift back with my dad, who's driving up to visit his mother, which saved me struggling on to boats and buses with the stuff I bought over the weekend.
    2) Getting home to a feline shadow - he won't let me leave the room unattended at the moment!
    3) Finding that a lot of my fruit has gone a bit dodgy over the weekend - pre-MSE I would have thrown it away, but I reckon I can make a decent fruit salad out of at least some of it.
    4) My tomato and pepper plants have shot up while I was away - they're actually recognisable now, rather than just being small green things. :)
    5) Pizza for dinner tonight, to use up all the odds and ends of cheese sitting in the fridge since before I went away - it looks like it will be a five or even six cheese pizza. :D

    Have a lovely evening, everyone.
Back after a very long break!

Good afternoon, I hope everyone has had a good day.

We are having a naughty takeaway tonight for tea, and we are having another on thursday as well . I feel a little guilty but not much :D.
    Anyway, here are todays pleasures:

    - Took the scenic route to the post box and heard lots of birds singing.
    - I visited a charity shop I don't often go to and discovered they have a brilliant selection of books, including brand new ones. I got a new copy of the scripts for the channel 4 programme Peep Show (DH is a big fan of Mitchell and Webb) for 50p, RRP £14.99! So I am going to save it for a fathers day present from DD.
    - Walking straight past the bakery and resisting cakey temptation :D
    - Reading a book with DD.
    - Feeling a little less stressed than I did.
