Can't quite make the five, but it is my first day...!

1.) Finally registering on the site after years of lurking! :T
2.) Discovering that my children prefer their home-made ice lollies to shop bought ones!
3.) Being able to stretch a meal for an unexpected hungry arrival.
4.) After being 'told off' in response to my first post asking for genuine advice on another thread which shall remain nameless :(, realising that OS is clearly going to be my spiritual home!

Hello everyone! Glad to have signed up at last! :j

WSSLA00 hope the lungs are a bit less stroppy today and your consultant csme up with some usefull ideas. (mine are getting in a bit of bother bless).

    1. lovely rain today much needed by the garden.

    2. tried to get some 'granny' style sandles for my swollen feet (steroid fluid retention) no luck there but popped next door to Matalan and came out with two skirts, two blouses and a lovely mug for my hospital bag (I hate paper cups and little mugs).

    3. bootsie cat enjoyed the lovely long groom I gave her and got rid of a lot of loose hair - she even rolled over for her tummy to be done.

    4. A two hour sleep in the chair this afternoon, I think body is saying I'm not quite right yet.

    5. after a lovely cheese & bean jacket at lunch time -even used reduced fat catherdral city (bogof at \Mr T) I didn't fancy a cooked tea so had a small corned beef sarnie and hm pineapple sponge with sweetened natural yoghurt.

Huggs to all who are not well

PS I forgot an extra one - podiatry phoned with an appointment for next Wednesday, so not too long to wait

Village life: your walks with your dog sound heavenly! Wish I wasn't allergic to dogs :(, I would LOVE one to take for walks like that.
Shadowsfall: totally agree with you about worrying making you older. (In my experience it has also made me very ill :() Any tips on how NOT to worry though?!?! I seem to be a born worrier...
Mollythewestie: what a lucky find those baby related bits were- I love surprises like that! And I LOVE charity shops, don't you? Glad you feel less stressed today. :)
CCP: you have certainly been to some lovely places! My DD is off to the Isle of W on a school trip next week, she's v excited!:j
nuttybabe: sounds like you have had a really rewarding domesticated day today- the garlic bread sounds lush! :)
missisP: welcome! I am pretty new here too. Sorry you had a nasty response on another thread; some people!! :(
wogglemaker: I am glad you are having a better day today, even though you are really tired. I found steroids a real pain for the swelling etc, too.
ralloctiger: bet that morning silence truly was golden! Well done on your kids doing their own cooking, hopefully they will appreciate your even more now! ;)

    Mine for today:

    1. Went to Stroud where I have never been before, with OH. Chiefly to look in Home Bargains but also to have general good nose around.
    2. Enjoyed walking about in the gently falling rain (tho OH not so keen!)
    3. Coffee in Costa and a naughty but nice chocolate pastry. YUM! :D
    4. Got some great bargains in HB, particularly in the gift bag line to put away in my gift wrapping box.
    5. Losing 3 lbs this week with Slimming world.:j
    6. Being given a plant by member of my SW group and the offer of popping in for a cuppa tomorrow.
    7. OH cooking a lovely veg curry for me to eat on my return from the SW club. :)

    Have a good evening everyone!

Evening, everyone. Here's my pleasures of today:

    1. Having a driving lesson this morning, before work, and feeling it is all starting to come together. Finally! It was good, though, and I'm hoping to pass my test in the next couple of months. Fingers crossed!
    2. Making sure I only eat at mealtimes is meaning that although I do eat more at mealtime, I'm not snacking and I'm hoping that is helping my figure a bit. I'd like to think so, anyway.
    3. Doing 8 minutes of intense yoga. Apart from feeling as though I was going to black out from the inverse positions, I did feel energised afterward. And if it can help me to get leaner muscles (interspersed with every-other-day Pilates) then so be it :D
    4. Getting tea cooked for me. I love my Mum!
    5. Some support from my Dad, too. Bless him, he is such a rock to cling to and although I did unleash a bit of an emotional torrent on him this afternoon, he was calm and very helpful. He's also provided me with lots of advice on driving, which I am taking in. Thanks, Dad. :)
    6. I haven't killed my cherry tomato seedling yet!
    7. Remembering how good it feels to wear a smart suit for work. I felt more confident and taller (if possible!)
    8. The local chap with a fruit and veg stall had bowls of tasty apricots (about 9) for £1 each :D I got a couple of bowls. :) I love apricots - they are my absolute all time favourite fruit.

Apart from something this afternoon happening which caused me to have a bit of a breakdown in tears, it hasn't been too bad today. It was resolved, but it was something I could do without. Oh well, it is good to get it out of the system, eh? Anyway, have a good evening everyone. Take care. :)

villagelife I misread what you said and thought you'd done that lot before you went to work . I know some here are great housekeepers, but that left me in awe!
house elf I love your edit message, talk about you and villagelife trying to confuse me :rotfl: (it doesn't take much...)
savingforoz sounds like it's all going well, and seems quite quickly now, you will send us a note on your new notebook now and again to let us know how you're doing, won't you? In fact bookmark this page!
Shadowsfall I love this steady summer rain, it's even a little bit warm and you can almost see the new buds on everything looking grateful for it....I'm just a bit peeved that I was going great guns on my patch when it started. How can there be so much to do in such a tiny area?! :D
Kittikins I agree about the baker, I wanted to shake her!
mollie you're yet another one who did her housework yesterday, makes me feel guilty for going out all day and having fun :o. Mind you I paid for it today with two days work to do . Congrats on the book find, it feels so good when you find something like that
welcome UrbaneGorilla, well done on your ebay sale, and the £5 'bonus'
CCP I'm so jealous, you went to IoW, Caterina is there now..I want to go back! I don't have any family left there now sadly but it still feels like home when I drive off the ferry :). Sounds like you had a great time and well done on finding the rose, hope it thrives for you
nuttybabe I've often thought about just throwing things in the bm but never had the nerve...might do so after hearing about your success :D
welcome MissisP, don't worry about the initial response you got to your other post, generally the other posters know all about that sort. Hope it doesn't put you off posting. For sure your DC liked their lollies, especially if they helped to make them themselves :D
wogglemaker lol at your Matalan trip, DD and I were going in there yesterday but we knew what would happen..it was a fight to walk past the door though. Well done on getting the podiatry appt for next Weds sometimes, they take ages don't they?
ralloctiger, you gotta love that first thing in the morning peace and quiet. Mine have all flown the nest but but I still appreciate it. Did DD1 not know that all the celebrity chefs make lumpy mash these days? Something to do with fashion cuisine...or laziness in my book ;)
Ginger Snap well done on your HB finds. We don't have them here so am looking forward to my hols in Morecambe so I can spend some time browsing. Great news about your loss, what a super feeling :T
Kitchenbunny sorry to hear you had a bit of a rough time, but lots of positives in your post to more than counterbalance it. Sounds like you've a a very special DM and DD there :)

    my 5 -

    1. A lie in til 9.15 - I'm getting there! Trouble is the furbabies always wake me up for their morning constitutional ;)
    2. Lovely fresh summer rain helping the buds to burst open, the apples and gooseberries to swell and the grass to stay green. A watering can just doesn't do it
    3. Had to pop out for milk, pity the only shop in the village is a Mr M...I bought a yummy YS rogan ghosh for dinner, and they also had masses of YS bread and rolls so I bought a bloomer, 6 brown and 6 white rolls and 6 paninis for 75p :T
    4. Having too much choice of which documentary to watch so settled for one and can watch another tomorrow. But I don't know why I always feel guilty if I turn the television on before the lunchtime news, silly when there's only me to please (bring back the shrug shoulders smiley, please. The majority of us didn't complain about it, surely?)
    5. Had a long chat with a friend on the phone, putting the world to rights. If only!

    Night night, sweet dreams

    Hi

CCP - no prob! It was a good find, I quite enjoyed it.
    Ginger Snap
    - There are ways to stop worrying! I'll let you know when I think of some good ones. Oh and well done on the weightloss!
Sparrer - It is lovely to see the trees loving the rain. I love the deep green the rain brings out in them. The sun brightens it and it's a nice contrast.

    1. I saw the moon in a recent dream and it was made up of the most beautiful colours and was huge. Huge! It looked like it was so close you could fly past it.
    2. Still going on my shakes for break/lunch and feel lighter and more energetic... how when I'm eating so many less calories?!
    3. Old friend of mine is having her hen weekend in Ibiza this week which I can't attend (some serious £££!). Made her some earrings to make up for my absence. Thought it would be nice.
    4. I'm about to go on a course (an amazing self development course) and I spoke to one of the chicks in the company yesterday who I met on my last course with them. It made me look forward to it more.
    5. My DF saying last night to OH that when they meet me at the end of the course, I'll be flying - like very very happy. It was nice to hear.

Have a nice day all :)

CCP - pygmy goats, aw, how cute!!!

    Welcome, MissisP!

Sparrer - you definitely can't get rid of me that easily! :D

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Delicious tea made out of odds and ends that needed eating up.
    2. Having a lazy evening at home.
    3. Phone call with my friend, who will help me take some stuff to the tip, so I'll buy him a curry as a thank you.
    4. Talking to a very nice lady who may be giving Fudge and Willow a permanent home. She will be meeting them tomorrow evening.
    5. Arranging for a friend to come round for lunch so he can try my lentil pate.

    Have a good day, everyone.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

    Morning,

    My pleasures for yesterday;

    1. Email chat with a friend, we don't get to speak to often these days but know each other so well it just falls straight into place. She makes me laugh so much that trying to pass the email excahnge off as work was impossible as I was snorting with laughter. :rotfl:
Plus she is coming to my parents suprise anniversary party next month.
    2. Lovely lunch of left over salad from BBQ we had at weekend with some YS quiche
    3. DD showing me a web page she has designed for a school project. Very impressed, I wouldn't know where to start. It's good to see her getting on so well in a lesson as she has dyslexia and struggles at school at lot. Very proud mummy moment:T
    4. Have been struggling for ideas for something differnet for dinner for a while but felt I had my mojo back a bit last night. We had a scrummy HM chicken chow mein which everyone really liked and DD said better than chinese as wasn't as greasy:D
    5. Reading a thread on another board about what people will sell on ebay. OMG I could not believe what people sell but the comments did make me laugh

Hugs to all who need them

    Yesterday was a strange day.....

    1. Found £1 in an envelope in the car, yippee :)
    2. Had a hopefully cheering up chat with my muvva who's having a hard time with a nasty situation at work, it's nice that she called me to talk through as much as she's able to.
    3. Spent a lot of my working day decorating our team's area for world cup "fun". Yawn! Football leaves me pretty cold......
    4. My new mobile phone arrived, just waiting for the official letter to let me know what my contract changes are and I'll get playing with it, it'll be nice to actually have a phone that should get a signal at home.
    5. Bought a bottle of specialist shampoo for DD's curly hair cheaper on eb&y than in the shops.

    Just thought of another one:
    6. Had a NSD, only up to 23 for the year but better than none ;)

    But on the yuk side
    1. Muvva's work situation is nasty and heart-breaking if what we suspect has happened has happened.
    2. I have vermin in my kitchen :( Opened a cupboard door and something brown and furry ran out. Called the council this morning to get their exterminator in asap *shudder*. The neighbours had a furry thing in their garden and had exterminator in about a month ago, they didn't catch anything, hope the creatures have not made home in my house. I couldn't find any nibbled food or droppings but am going to be more vigilant and diligent about cleaning now :(
