    Pleasures for today (Thursday).

    1) No school for smaller son today - too stressed and was up half the night - so we did some Macbeth, angles and I thought I'd teach him Pythagoras' Theory so he'd be a bit ahead and he picked it up very quickly.

    2) Hens well and picked a large bowl of raspberries. Salad plot is good so plenty of different leaves from there too.

    3) Egg mayo (and lots of salad!) sandwiches for lunch.

    4) My brother came round and plasterboarded under the stairs for me. I think he is happy to do the whole of the staircase wall as well.

    5) Took sons to the barbers.

    6) Had a good tidy up after the plasterboarding (all had to be cut and sorted in the house as it rained all day).

    7) Tasty tea of dahl with rice and naan.

    8) Bigger son and I just watched First Dates.

Mrs. L, I just love it when our little ones say the cutest things nicely in public situations.
Dearest M, for me the hardest part is that you miss them so much. I didn't loose a husband, but a son.
It seems to me you loved each other very much.
M&M, I wish I had stayed with my running. To run by a river sounds so wonderful to me!
Raspberries Firth? Jealous! Actually they sound really wonderful. I'm going to spring for them this weekend (they are expensive) to use as part of the flag on my 4th of July cake.

    * Floor done in one sitting room. (Second one to be started tomorrow) We will move all the furniture back in and clean tonight because that's the area my family will be staying in over the 4th weekend.

    * DH took me to lunch to a new Mexican food restaurant. Not a fan! The food was bland. I need picante! I so wish for something besides Mexican to open here. Why do we need another one! I guess the tourists will love it. So even though I'm currently whining, the pleasure was spending time with my husband.

    * We bought a watermelon for Quoye. They had yellow but no, Duke (DH) didn't know if Quoye liked that kind so he insisted on red. She has that man crooked around her little finger and she's only three. Wait until she realizes her power. :D;)

    * The neighbors have taken down their ratty old wooden fence and are putting up a new pretty one. Now is the people on the corner would mow their weeds ever once in a while that would be awesome!

    * The good thing that came out of the so-so lunch it that DH had leftovers and said he'd eat them for dinner. Yes!
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

  • 5 I suppose you are all coq a hoop on the buck of face this day and noticed that Dan, with a Scottish accent and possibly drives a white van has been playing the field with the ladies! Around here he is aka Trevor and he aint very clever. He has a wife and three children, two of which are not his! Avoid buck of face fairy stories please! I had to share and tell the world about his lovely wife and kids though! That hads me chuckle as …

4 Well it was about that time that BoPsie piped up this morn about. Can you hear the racquet? Yes, Raffles has come home after a night on the tiles and bought his bird with him. We had hoped by now he would grow out of it, but no. Fortunately the rapid reaction of BoP managed to let the magpie flutter off for another day!

3 So with that, BoP managed to race through the traffic ad arrive at the mill in record time! That means that on POETS Day, I can leave even earlier than expected and home to the fitting the bog! I am already thing of the curse words to use! More later! Anyway, as I manged to arrive early at the mill, one of a few the millwright has in our lands and overseas, someone unknown to us in the boiler room full of stokers, has decided they don’t want to work for us anymore! Their advice is appreciated, yet their employability at the next mine could be compromised! Still nice to know how a bad place we work inn, but we sweat it much more in the boiler room. Resignation letter now available on buck of face! Enjoy! Hope he gets his P45 in time, as if I was so bothered in humane remains, it could take some time!

2 Nite the big train of Warster is booked! The cans of paint are filled and a gorilla has been ordered. I could go live later with updates!

I could go on and on and on just hanging around!

And now as I chortle away on my lunch, I have just read that the mill supplier of bails of cotton has managed to pull a few more rabbits out of their hats! Good time to make hay! And those who jumped ship while the rock was being passed around, could end up on the desert island!

Good ( very early) morning from the land that's -1o at the moment, do I'm staying under covers just now!!

    Friday was spent quietly.

Work was done in the morning. Hurrah-ed over for being Friday.

Kids were in & out at various times , trying to 'boo' each other and scare each other ! It's good fun honestly!

There were various trips around my local town, twice to the post office, once to the doctors to pick up a repeat prescription ( charged $20 for but cheaper than a $72 visit) and then back up to pharmacy which is in same place as post office .
Went to the hardware store to buy primroses. It's a friend's birthday so I thought I'd do a basket of primroses instead of flowers.

I dozed off with a dog in my arms...

Much to be done today , we have a winter feast to go to and I said I'd bake. I'm going to have a frosty early walk with Haggis , make some lemon curd & see what else the day brings.

Still a bit ill (day 3, I think), with ear ache and impressive swollen glands. Don't feel too bad in myself.

    Pleasures for today (Friday!)

    1) Good to get up after almost no sleep.

    2) Hens OK.

    3) Saw second mother walking her dog so stopped the car to say hello.

    4) Got various jobs done and bigger son did some form filling for his taster day at college on Monday.

    5) Made some brownies for the "do" this evening.

    6) Picked smaller son up from his school site (it's on 2 sites) and drove him to the other one. It was an anniversary party for the communication centre attached to his school being open for a decade. Cue about 40 young men (and 3 girls), pupils past and present. To be in the communication centre, you need a statement of SEN (now an EHCP) and an ASD diagnosis so it was just our sort of party - lots of eating, football and happy, necessary conversations only!

Smaller son's most favourite TA was there (he found a new job a year ago) so they had a chat. The local MP turned up and he was pleasant enough - rather a quiet chap.

My parents appeared and I don't know what was wrong with them but they stayed about 7 minutes, wouldn't have a drink or a cake then mum said, "We're leaving, your father's hungry" (it was about 5pm at that point and there were 2 tables groaning with food). My brother was also there but stayed until the end.

    7) Straight to son's football practice afterwards and my former colleague was there so had a chat with her.

    8) Picked up bigger son from his job. The pay is marvellous but it bores him silly and the sink is too low for him so his back aches.

    9) In bed now and about to listen to the News Quiz, or whatever is on this evening.

    3. After school meeting, making plans for retirement celebrations for two colleagues.

    Friday fun!

    1. Class assembly yesterday - they were little treasures, and the parents were very happy. Hopefully I won't have any appointments for parents' evening as they've all had a chance to chat, look at books etc.....fingers crossed!

    2. Bought an electric cool box for the car so that DD and I can have cheaper picnics, i.e. we won't have to go and buy cheese when we're out, as we can take our own sandwiches and keep them cool (as she won't eat even slightly warm cheese.....). Special offer at L*dl, about half the price of elsewhere :)

    3. Lovely evening with Chap *swoon* He is fanbloomingtastic!

    4. Took to Chap's house the 4 eggs our ladies have provided (school chickens) and a few kilos of slightly sprouting but not green, thankfully, potatoes left over from the school kitchen. Made scrumptious potato wedges for dinner.

    5. Bought my dad a b'day present, which came with 2 little freebies that I'll give to Chap, killing 2 birds with one stone :)

    6. Bought Chap a bus ticket to come and visit us when we're house-sitting over New Year's. It was only £6 and unlike the last time he got a coach, isn't a puddle-jumper, so will be hopefully as good as coming by train (and a darned sight cheaper!!)

    7. Bought DD and I train tickets for when we go to that London to see Les Mis. Must remember to renew our Family Railcard before we go!!!

    8. Got up nice and early this morning and am seeing Chap again this afternoon whilst DD is out gallivanting with her friends. Yay!

    9. Am all prepared for next week's art lessons, as we have arts week and rehearsals going on, there'll be lots of disruption whilst the children go out to do yoga, learn batik, watch a jazz band etc etc. It's going to be brilliant!

The day didn't start of particularly well. Laptop charger is no more and my laptop only holds a charge for 10 minutes. Was just pondering on that an eating a doughnut when a HUGE chunk of wisdom broke off. Then another chunk! There is barely anything left now. :-/

    Pleasure for today:

    1) A good sleep - not a day too soon!

    2) Bigger son went to work.

    3) Smaller son went to watch England Lion v South Africa.

    4) Bought the cooler from Lidl after you mentioned it, Kittikins, as it would be great for our forthcoming youth hostelling holiday. Got it home, unwrapped it and it doesn't fit the 12v thing on my car!

    5) 3 loads of washing nearly done.

    6) Watched Casualty.
