Dark o'clock here and has been blooming chilly all day. Such a raw cold.
Work, the pleasure always on a Tuesday is getting through it.
DD1 friend and her dog came for a puppy play date. Mr Haggis was not being one bit nice so did not get to go. Pretty Miss Roxy is a Brittany spaniel ...she enjoyed her walk to the park.
Sigh , to paperwork. 2 X bills to estate of late OH for gas/ electric. $1.75 each ( have been paying just hadn't changed name) tried to pay through bank, too low a figure. So walked up to post office & spent $3.50.
Then had to change private medical insurance to my name so I can cancel this. They sent OH a letter last week even though they've sighted his death certificate , when I emailed to complain , they replied it was computer generated. Regardless it still causes upset. Anyway, it was a Freepost address so walked back up to post office with dog in tow.
Then had to email energy company for my house in UK ...the tenants had changed suppliers from what it was originally. They had given a final reading. Company sent out a hugely overestimated bill ,due paid the day after estate agent emailed me a copy. I emailed them , explained situation. I then emailed again 2 days later with correct readings. House is empty, virtually no energy has been used. I received a reply today telling me that my email address is not the one they have on file & due to data protection they can't tell me anything so if I just send it from the original email.....I could not make this stuff up! I shall await their reply!
Then an email sent to pension company asking what's going on? Out of office reply....sigh?
Left over steak pie had for tea which was just lovely.
Found a $2 coin whist out dog walking.
Had a lovely donation for my fund raising morning tea in a few weeks.
Given ( by friend I met yesterday ) a voucher for weekend away that she had won but won't use. Not sure if I will either but very nice and thoughtful.
Saw jonquils whilst out walking & the first white camellia in my garden.
Have a good day.0 -
5 Commotion at the mill. IT have upgraded people and spread the word that they are upgraded, to their new email account. Only problem is, they forget to tell them before they had the pleasure of messing about! The hay, which is waiting outside to be turned into money, has needles in it and you should see the chaos!
4 As I mentioned in May, and it is about your coats. If you’re reading this at work and forgot yours today, I’m afraid, you’re going to get wet! And as the water course at the mill is all set to drive the grinding wheels. Only problem is, IT has locked the drive wheels!
3 Enuff has been said about the kiwi canoe, so we can move on now. I was out at emporium last night and managed to retrieve from their shelves, some Freddo Frogs. Nice in a while and we have enough for three days! Lunch box is well packed today! Also, as BoP was so greedy on Sunday, we have run out of stem ginger shortbreads! Typical! I have to make do with digestives and rabbit foods instead. Bag load of oranges though to munchs mes self through! Proper foods and good for you. Later I will be getting beach trimmed in the gym and then home to 4 day brewed chicken curry!
2 Had second helping of the pie last evening, served with peas as BoP was rather greedy with the cauliflower on Sunday! Was well churned out, and finished off with strawberries and viennetta! Tum was rubbed

1) Waking to the fairy elephant noise of Zebra and his Opa trying to tiptoe downstairs without waking the rest of us up at 6 this morning!
2) Orleys first smile of the day when he came downstairs with his mum at 7.30[ he's so cute!
3) Took Zebra for a ride on a Steam Train this morning while his mum and brother went off to meet a schoolfriend of hers and a Medical colleague who works in our local Health Trust.
4) Lovely lunch out at new to us garden centre, Zebra helped me eat hummus and olives.....he's such a helpful boy!
5) It's not raining here yet despite it being forecast for lunchtime onwards and He Who Knows has slipped down to the allotment to pick raspberries, sadly Zebra who wanted to go with him fell asleep in the car less than 5 minutes from the house and is currently tucked up in bed for a nice snooze.0 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Smaller son off to school OK. Still a problem with one lesson which caused tears.
3) Bigger son replaced a fence panel for my sister. He went off on his bike afterwards so haven't seen him since 9 this morning.
4) I went geocaching locally and managed 23! Feet ache now as it took over 3 hours.
5) Met my friend for a cup of tea.
6) Just watched Holby City.0 -
1. Waking up to a clean kitchen.
2. OH liked his lunch today. It was only spanish rice done in the InstantPot, and cost pennies. I'm glad he liked it as there are two more portions in the freezer. Easy and cheap
3. It's nearly the end of the month and we're under on nearly every budget category (including £180 for groceries, cat food, toiletries and cleaning things combined. Woohoo!)
4. Went for a walk by the river at lunchtime.
5. DH is engrossed in a book so I had a blissfully quiet evening of blogging.0 -
Morning All,
Yesterday
1. Didn't have to do stupid ICT cover, as lots of staff in the class.
2. Made pirate themed skittle game with Primary DT class, then tested it. Great fun!!!
3. Stopped at MrW for a couple of freebies with coupons on the way home, and got free coffee as well, for £1.35 spend !!!!
4. £5 coop frozen meal deal fish and chips for tea. Yum!
5. 2 more Madmen episodes watched. Must do something more constructive tonight!!!!!
Have a great day.0 -
On holiday in forgot a couple of weeks.
1. Hot, sunny weather.
2. Relaxing.
3. DH managing to relax and slow down a bit.
4. Food.
5. Wine0 -
1. Got £60 cashback from comparison site today. Wasn't actually expecting it, which is unusual for someone who tracks every penny.
2. Supping free coffee at work. They've started buying soya milk for all of the non-dairy drinkers, so I no longer need to bring/buy my own...
3. DD left some Jersey Royals and broccoli on her plate last night. Have popped the spuds in a box for OH to snack on today, and I've put the broccoli in my salad box. No waste to be seen here! Also have home grown cucumbers in my salad. They are so sweet and delicious - far superior to supermarket fare.
4. Remembered my running kit. Even if it's wet I'll go for a run by the river at lunch. It will be magnificently moody along the Thames, and what better - and free - way to burn calories and clear my mind?
5. Remembered I have 2 avocados that the in laws gave us that need using up. So, tonight will be bean chilli and homemade guac.
6. An extraordinary number of visitors to my little frugality blog this morning. No idea why, but it's nice to know that I'm reaching people. Hopefully it's helpful to some.
7. This drizzly grey day is making me excited for the winter season (won't mention the C word). I actually love summer, but our cottage is glorious in winter, with it's wood burner and snuggly little sofa which just about fits the three of us plus the two cats.0 -
Bedtime for me.
Work 'twas okay and tomorrow is Thursday & my favourite work day!
Met friend at her local cafe. Her treat ( though technically should have been mine!) I had toast & marmalade. Lovely to catch up.
Went to supermarket near to cafe , got 2 packs of chicken & the biggest steak I've ever seen all half price. Will do several meals for us. All chopped up & in freezer. Had to get son to finish the ice cream to make room. He was very obliging.
2 bags of mandarins half price & Haggis dog food on special so bought a bag for him.
Amongst a pile of bureaucratic emails was a lovely one from a friend
Saw the emu that lives in the grounds of wildlife reserve at uni.
Wore my new to me denim skirt , which I hadn't realised was brand new with tags still on was $59.99 I paid $5 at op shop. A lovely stripy long sleeved top was $4 and the cosiest of chunky ,boucle wool jumper in one of my favourite shades of green was $5. Surely there's no such thing as too many green jumpers?
Made chicken schnitzels with my RTC chicken & blitzed up breadcrumbs from left over bread that I've been keeping in freezer. Had it with home made potato salad and peas. Delicious .
Have a good day

5 Well after rushing around trying to sort the mess the softies have done to the counting of beans system at work, I rushed home, got my beach trim kit on down the gym with BoPsie to creak my bones and keep beach ready. BoPsie popped she would like special fried rice with the curry! So we went to w8rs and got a bottle of wobbleade, some king prawns and then home to pan the brewed curry. Rice was long grain and not the mixed bashcarpi variant, that is so much also long grain but five time as much! King prawns were fired with peas, bit of mushroom and onion in pan and the rice tossed inn. Soy sauce was splashed and whisked egg added. Perfect and far better, and quicker than ringing just rip off as well. Tum was rubbed and bottle of wobbleade was wolfed down.
4 But by going to get proper food, we missed the cheese on toast delivery driver go past! BoPsie was so looking forward to seeing where he delivered. So our tea, with wobbleale was far cheaper than the cheese on toast. Who pays £24 for this loaf, and surely the only guy who could do this with bread did so at Bethsaida!
3 Back at the mill and as you read this, the week is downhill from here. Yipee! The softies have made the computer thing downhill all week, as they continue to downgrade our notwork.. And using our special tool, I have managed to find another way of coming up with the same answer. Just like BoP Old Man once, when he took me to an interview a few years back. Was at some airline near Nottingham and I got him a visit round a kite. All the way there he was, you did not need to go to uni, you should had got a job! Blah Blah Blah! BoP just folded his lugs, he has done this since mum BoP took me to panto and it was carp. I tell you now it was carp! She was not happy that I closed my lugs!
Well BoP got there and told the old man to come in. he was a bit lost when the guy come forward and asked him to sign in as well, and took him to the hangar. On the way out he looked like a kid that had been in a toy shop! Jumping in the car, we got fifty yards down the road when he piped up. “You worked on these, all your life?”
“Yes Dad” I chortled!
“There’s no wonder you did not want the job on the docks then!”
He never complained at my job again!
2 And after all that has flowed down the mill race this day, I am going home to the third helping of the patchwork quilt pie. As I piped up on Monday about being so greedy on Sunday with the cauliflower, the pie is going to be served with peas from the garden instead! And for not being greedy yesterday, we have fresh garden raspberries and strawberries to be served up with vienetta as well. And that will leave two ice cream lollies in the refrigerators ice box for Thursday and FryDay! Come Saturday when the crapper goes back in, there will be none available! I fear the curse words on the day! Watch this space!
Enuff of my rantings and ravings until another sunny day!
I expressed a wish that it came true. Only you can drive your dream through!0
