That sounds like a tough day, PK.
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Work went OKish.
2) Some of the units have come back marked for my NVQ. A storm is brewing there in that she is insistent that I take functional skills ICT... Oh, I don't think so, you patronising madam!
3) Good to see the hens today. A bit of a horror scene this evening :-/ I had emptied the last of the hen food into their feeder so left the bin uncovered in the shed. Went tonight and there were 2 rats stuck in the bottom of the bin - and one had killed the other! Eurgh.
4) Went into town to get some more hen food.
5) Smaller son finally handed his GCSE option form in, right on the deadline. All the normal ones then PE and Catering.
6) Bigger son went to school today (he's averaging 2 days a week at the moment) but only for Resistant Materials. Unknown to him, I had emailed in about the 2 deaths yesterday and he came home and said, "Mr T was very nice to me today" and he couldn't understand why!
7) Sons went to role playing night with my brother and brother in law.
8) I set to cleaning the house, catching up on jobs and applying for voluntary work with the National Trust.
9) Watched a lovely programme on BBC4 at 9 about steam trains. The next programme is about our local line so I'll watch that one too.0 -
Come on pirate Pete / Cornish pastie where are you?
Lovely dog walk . On the way home we met Dusty our neighbours dog, Haggis was staying with them when we were in hospital. They've been on holiday. It was like a scene from a movie....both dogs saw each other and just ran to say hello. They were so delighted to see each other . Nice chat with neighbour.
This afternoon we went back to the ward where OH was cared for. We wanted to say a personal thank you. We also took gifts of games and toys so other families can know the special , fun times we did. We met the nurses who were with us the last few shifts ...probably just by chance although the ward manager knew we were coming in.
It was so difficult and much harder than I had thought but very necessary for us to do.
Did a bit more gardening in back garden ( there is much that can be done ) and gardener came to do front garden this afternoon.
Stopped and had some late lunch / early dinner and kids paid for their own.
Have a good day0 -
Assorted pleasures
1. For the past two days, although it is still very cold it has been sunny, so I have been able to make a long promised return to my herb beds and have begun to dig them out. The ground is iron hard, but at least I have begun again.
2. Over the past six weeks, slowly but surely, I have kondoed (is there REALLY such a verb? I will listen with interest to the list of new entries to the OED over the next few years.) my kitchen. Yesterday I cleared the last shelf.
3. Many, many items of kitchenware, unused for decades in some cases, have gone to spark joy in other hearts than mine.
4. I can find things in all of my kitchen cupboards.
5. it is a gloriously sunny morning, and I have the energy to garden again. It is a wonderful feeling after the past 18 months.0 -
Another day another train - though i have barely been out of the house since monday.....
Sorry for those having a rough time...
BoP - come baaaaaaack
And, where is Ampersand?
Pleasures for the last few
1. DS finally got his last uni offer - he has 3 identical offers, and two much higher. He has chosen Liverpool John Moores first and Manchester met second (same offer but Met has a lot of places so might accept him with lower A levels)
2. I did get out yesterday for a half hour walk at sunset - signs of spring everywhere. Loads of blossom, magnolias in bloom and hosts of daffs
3. Eating up the freezer - some really nice meals had for little cost
4. Finally got my conference paper within its word limit. It's shaping up nicely
5. Ongoing issue with my sister, who is still at dads. She asked me to be her guarantor for a house and I've said no - but have offered financial assistance with deposit and a rent protection insurance policy. Let's hope prospective landlord goes for it. The pleasure is that she is still talking to me and that dad is coping well with her moving in.
Have a good day all - I am on my way to London, to show my face in the office and later to see DD in her showcase....I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Still blocked at the palace, so cannot read your ditties over the weak end.
