Just a quick update of yesterday:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son went to school! And stayed for an extra hour to do some more Resistant Materials project.
3) I think work went OK. Can't remember it so must have been alright.
4) Bigger son went to stay at my sister and brother in law's and is walking in Wales today.
5) Smaller son and I bought goodies from Waitrose.
6) Watched Holby City.0 -
Thinking of those of you in England. Watching CNN who is reporting. Praying for those affected.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Bless you MILA your prayers and thoughtfulness are so much appreciated. I think we've all been long aware that we were on borrowed time and that the luck has been with us (as well as the wonderful thoroughness of the security agencies) but also that terrorism would and has caught up with the British Nation, it's been on the cards and inevitably had to happen at some time. My thoughts and prayers are also with those who have lost their lives and also had their lives changed forever by this evilness.
1) Dentist visit all OK!
2) Just got a fresh rye bloomer loaf for 29p in the Co Op as a reduction.
3) Nice swim this morning, we tried the 'seniors only session', prefer the open one!
4) The scent of Skimmia Japonica which is in bloom now and almost as wonderfully musky as Hawthorn and will also give us masses of gaudy bright red berries in the autumn.
5) Small clusters of leaflets beginning to appear in amidst the swelling buds on lots of trees, spring is happening NOW!!!0 -
My thoughts are with all those impacted by the Westminster attack. It's frightening watching the news as information comes in.
On a lighter note, a few pleasures from my last few days:
It snowed! Unexpected as none of the roads I drove on we're not gritted. However I managed to get to work on one of our islands, ferries were running and the landscape views, hills and mountains were snow capped and very beautiful.
First day at work of our new modern apprentice. A lovely young man who is enthusiastic and a smart cookie. He got thrown in at the deep end with me at public consultations and took it in his stride. I'm privileged to be part of the first steps of his working life.
Coming home late to find hubby had done my share of the day's domestics, including fresh linen on the bed, the laundry and brought me new books from the library he thought id like - including cookery books!
My giesha history book is facinating and I'm learning so much about Japanese history.
My hair played nice and looked super good today! If only it would behave itself like this every day
A lower electric bill quarter woo hoo. Hubby's plan of swapping all the bulbs st home to LED's as the old ones died has worked - we are a fully functioning LED household now.
My wee marmalade cat has been bringing gifts of leaves home for me. A lot nicer than wildlife. He's leaving them on my side of the bed. The big boy has helped me rise earlier these last few days by jumping up and giving me a big head to head bump before I can even switch the alarm off. He thinks the leaf gifts are nonsense, he's more of a blue tit and shrew fan.0 -
Vjsmum: oh dear, to your Dsis and OH..
Mhags Good luck on whatever work choices you choose.
1 Feeling very tired, pleasure to be home.
2 New work colleague making sure I took a tea break.
3 Easy lasagne and veg for tea, but we are very hungry from the diet.
4 Looking forward to surprising Dh tomorrow, as I am picking up fish and chips on my way back as I will be late as going from work to DF then home via chippy.
5 More work to get out of the way in a mo will be a pleasure to get it done.0 -

Very sad scenes in Westminster.
A vile day today for bigger son and the wider family. :-( His first messages were from his school friend this morning, who went into his dad's room (dad a single parent) to find he had passed away. He had been ill with cancer, but this was unexpected.
Then a phone call to bigger son from the ex Mr Frith to let us know that my sons' cousin died this morning - he crashed his motorbike. He was 24.
Must find 5 pleasures for today.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Work went OK. I was working at lunchtime and one of the maths teachers came in (used to teach me, decades ago). She had been given a hard question paper that a class had been given, but not the answers, from another teacher. She had worked out all the answers but 2 and I picked it up and worked them out!!!! Still can't believe it!
3) Although he had a day of ghastly news, bigger son had a day out with my brother in law, 2 of his friends and a pleasant dog. I can't tell you the English name of the hill as MSE will asterisk it! But you can look up twmpa (Welsh version) ;-) and get a translation. You can see it in the distance from where we live and there was quite a lot of snow on the top today.
4) Went to my sister's to pick bigger son up but he was later than we thought. So I spent a lovely half an hour reading bedtime stories to my niece and being shown various toys. Her sentence of choice at the moment is "really good", which she says about everything she sees.
5) Bigger son very sad so we sat in my bed with hot chocolate and hot water bottles and watched his choice on the laptop (Tattoo Fixers).0
