Struggling for five today
1. Despite falling up the steps last night elderly pooch is well and happy with only a slight limp when he remembers
2. Naughty packet of hula hoops at lunch time
3. Home admin more or less completed
4. Good catch up with my boss
5. It's cold and very wet but I'm snug and safe at home and don't need to go anywhere0 -
Review meeting going well. Twelve items discussed. BoP's team leads 9-3. Great result on day one.
Train did not go via Warster!
No pleasure as BoPsie is not here.

LaineyT: Is cawli rice grated cawli?
Bagpuss, that sounds like a very productive day off.
Mhags, please take it as read you are in our thoughts...
1.Looked at what we have in and I reckon I can create a Chinese fake away when we are both feeling better, but tonight it will be a bowl of spaghetti using up ham leftover and Philadelphia cheese that needs using today. I am hoping for a good comforting carbonara, what I got was the realisation that that cheese spoils a perfectly wonderful dish it was disgusting.
2.The clothes washing is up to date from the point of view I can see the bottom of the basket for today at least.:o
3.The pleasure the pain flare has passed once again, but it leaves the rather unpleasant sounding lurgified both us with is a bit grim but still feels like a pleasure.
4.The beauty of the woodpecker that came down for the bird food, stunning critters.:)
5. Paid DF’s bills online and repeated his weekly orders, a pleasure to be able to help.
6. Refreshed my CV, applied for roles, touching wood and determination here.:)0 -
PK -I've also found Philadelphia is not nice in cooked food. Yummy on crisp bread or crackers but nope not nice in pasta xSIMPLY BE-££577.11:eek:

Good morning from Wednesday. Sun is up and it's to be a hottie today but I will be nice and cool inside. There are hot air balloons in the distance. On Saturday as I came out from my shower they were so close and just passing by on the way to land. Stunning.
So we've made another night , which is always good. Yesterday was quite a busy day with calls from oncologist at usual hospital. Had a very good 25 minute chat with him. Had a very thorough chat with our ward based oncologist. Speech pathologist popped in, social worker popped in. Nurses pop in and out.
Kids came in the afternoon, we all went down to the lounge area and played trivial pursuit l I am so not a lover of board games ( I think they make me bored! ) however I won...did I say I won? No? Well I won! Then we had a dinner of very nice chilli that our friends had made. Quite hot but nice. Any hotter and I don't think I could have eaten it. Then we had a bit more time together then kids all headed home .
The lady who I went to carers afternoon tea with in September and we were the only 2 wives there ( the rest were widows) called me . She said she had such an urge to call me. It turns out her husband was in the exact same room that OH is in 2 weeks ago ( he got home) and she knew exactly where to send her love. It was lovely to chat with her. Funny how you can just make a connection with someone. Lovely lady.
We had our usual promenade around the ward in the evening and then I was so glad to climb in to bed.
Had an email from another friend just as I opened up my iPad to email her
Nice to know we were thinking of each other at the same time. Lovely photos of her new grandson.
My great niece wanting to send her Auntie daffodils ( my favourite flower) so they had bought some and sent me a photo...just as good! They'd wilt in 35o heat!
Being caught singing in the shower yesterday. It's down a distant corridor and I had my phone with me belting out 80's tunes with me belting along with it! Our oncologist asked later if that was me she'd heard? Probably! She said she'd came for a shower and all she heard was me singing!
So there are still pleasures to be found and indeed looked for. Today we will be doing an early birthday celebration for DD2 who will turn 17 , 10 days early. There will be balloons and banners and of course cake! We've been advised to have the kids in for a lot of the time and make the most of the good time left. DD2 has been allowed next 2 days off school, DS is just going to work half a day and DD1 has cancelled her tutoring session. So we shall make the most of our family time.

We look forward on the football boot update frith
1) lazy morning marking in bed
2) then physio. I was quite chuffed with my progress. She was sad it was taking so long :-(
3) dd2 had given me a lift. Treated her to Chinese buffet on city quay. We got a table with a sea view
4) have discovered I have a stand up desk in my office - it's called laptop on 4 drawer filing cabinet :rotfl:
5) dd2 and I still stuffed after Chinese buffet. So we had chipsticks and wagon wheels :PMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Tuesday).
1) Not a good night's sleep (can't imagine how I managed when it was like that every night!) so glad to get up at 8am.
2) Went to see the hens.
3) Drove to Ikea and had breakfast there.
4) Carried on up the road to see an old friend. Hadn't seen her for over a year.
5) Then a longish drive to Warster to see usual Tuesday night school friend.
6) Had tea that sons don't like (as they're not here) - mussels and sun dried tomato bread.
7) Watched tv this evening - Holby, DIY SOS then 24 Hours in A and E.
8) Lots of messages from bored sons this evening including a photo from bigger son.
They're back tomorrow - hoorah!0 -
* Drove back home today. We made it in 4 hrs with 3 stops. DH found a rabbit. We like each other so it was a nice comfortable drive. Before we left Albuquerque we ate breakfast at our favorite taqueria...tacos for DH and enchiladas rojo plus a side of crisp bacon for me.
* On the way out of town we stopped by to pay for the undercabinet lighting we had ordered and the manager gave us a 20% discount. Whoopee!!
* Stopped on the way back and picked up some fried chicken and steak fingers for dinner. I always enjoy not cooking.
* Come home to half the cabinets being put up and I'm blown away! I just love them. Good thing because they are bought and paid for!
* Sequoia was an absolute joy. She's speaking in mainly complete sentences. Smartie pants!
* We all ate at a Japanese noodle restaurant last night. DH ate seaweed salad and loved it. We didn't tell him what it was until he said he wanted more. Sneaky us! Great milky cold sake. I felt good when we left.
* Bun Bun the baby rabbit has grown a lot and is now in a separate cage until HE is neutered. Yes, Bun Bun is a boy with no moral code.
You are all in my thoughts dear Mhags!! You write so beautifully. My heart just lurches as I begin your posts. Much love to you from your New Mexico friend.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Mhags well done on winning.
Frith sounds like the tea I love but never had when son's were here and one of the things we eat when I know DS2 isn't eating at home.
1. Daffodils in the garden some of which are in bud but no yellow visible yet.
2. Amazon delivery arrived and left so it stayed dry.
3. DS1 phoned again. He has an interview next week for another job. He enjoys what he does but has long hours and works most weekends.
4. Took lunch into work. I reheated a jacket potato in the microwave and it tasted fine. Will do it again as it takes no effort to cook it the evening before.
5. Arranged to see a friend at the weekend.0 -
Morning - happy early birthday Miss Mhags. You are all so inspiring.
Someone asked me a while ago (at one of those "tell us all about you" kind of sessions) to think of something we were good at. I came up with pub quizzes and trivial pursuit :rotfl: I am a mine of useless information(To clarify, I am okish at a few things, but actually good at? just pub quizzes :rotfl:)
Cough, cough, splutter splutter, sneeze - tonsilitis going strong.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. after a night of almost no sleep i gratefully accepted a lift to the station from DH (all the time with him voicing his disapproval that i was going to London at all). And he managed to get a free parking spot on a street near the station so i could drive myself back later :T
2. Salmon and scrambled egg on the train.
3. Seminar at Uni, half good, half not so. You'd think at PhD level, there would be no reliance on powerpoint at all (especially as there were only 4 of us) let alone a lecturer just reading off it. But i got my attendance mark which was the important thing.
4. Caught the train back from Marylebone (so less walking) - it's a big old diesel and lovely coaches, i use it a lot as i get more work done on it. May have had a zizz (to be fair, it was more like "passed out unconcious" for about 10 minutes).
5. Easy tea and a catch up with DS - who went on a school trip to 4 European cities (London, Amsterdam, Paris and Ypres). He bought me back some belgian chocolate (cos i asked him to), the most expensive Belgian chocs ever given that he spent all the rest of the money we gave him on booze :rotfl:. He declared it "the best school trip, ever" and hasn't given me too much detail - not sure i need to know
Have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0
