  • Welcome Caronc :)

1.Out of bed by 6am to attend a course, it was unique, worthwhile and not something we would ever be able to experience so well worth it. Prepared with drinks and lunch as it wasn’t provided but we were warned.

2.I ignored the good fish and chip shops we passed on the way home as of course faggots are far tastier, well maybe, more like it’s more in line with my diet.:o

3.Animals very happy to see us, DH passed out cold, while I was awake so pondered and planted the Begonias in a container to get them underway, which the fuzzies thought was the best thing ever, the look of disappointment as I put it out of their paws reach.:)

    4. Washing in and given 15mins in the dryer to make sure the animal hair is gathered off it.

    5. All the tulips and various bulbs are coming up in the front garden I love the spring signs.

Good morning from Monday. Sun is rising, I can hear the trains and the Monday traffic way down below in the streets. I did start a post yesterday but it disappeared and I just thought nah!

Pleasures do abound in and amongst the sad and difficult moments.

Saturday we had a wonderful party to celebrate almost 25 years.
Friends had kindly brought what I'd asked. Normally I'm all don't bring a thing just yourselves but I recognised my limitations and let them help!

So we had champagne and fruit juices, a fabulous strawberry/ chocolate cheesecake, crisps and dips and nibbly bits, a tray of patisserie cakes, flowers. Balloons and sparklers for the cake.

Most of all we had love and friendship. Lots of laughter and no tears. We were allowed private access to the wellness centre , which is normally closed at weekends and was the most perfect space. A beautiful 100 year old building ( originally the church and social hub for the original hospital ) with high vaulted ceilings and beautiful stained glass windows .

Husband and son were in their kilts. I had flowers in my hair ( as a nod to my circlet of flowers on my wedding day) . I did an impromptu speech...again as a nod to my wedding day when my husband had forgotten to say ' on behalf of my wife and I' so I did a ' on behalf of my husband and I! ' I hadn't realised my friend was videoing it on her phone, so that was nice to receive :)

We took lots of photographs on our phones but got some really good ones on our big camera which was set up on the tripod. One of our friends acted as photographer and set the timer then ran to join the rest of the group. Mostly everyone knew each other and certainly did by the end of the afternoon. We have lovely friends.

Sunday was a bit of an emotional one. We really don't have much time left. Kids were in , all at various stages. Youngest for most of the day...bringing me in supplies of cereals in zippy bags, some bread for toast and fruit. We have a big fridge in the lounge we can store things in. DD1 came with more bits and pieces to allow me to stay here and DS came in after a friend had dropped off food parcels .

A friend from old work had asked if she could visit us both but OH not really up for visitors so I said I'd love to see her, so her and her husband came for half an hour with some lovely flowers. It was so nice to see her, she felt helpless wth words ....what can you say? But really just her being there and thinking to visit was lovely. We just sat down in the lounge and chatted.

We discussed funerals which we have been doing on and off for past 8 months , so music is agreed on. Much snots and tears at that one. We discussed what I can sell and what I've to keep. I had said to OH months ago , do not leave me with that bloody motorbike...I will be left with that bloody motorbike.

I've chatted and messaged with friends from home. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology. I've had to politely but firmly field off visits from people we really don't want to see. OH is really just up to visits from kids where there's no expectation of chit chat .

Right, I'm going to head for a shower , do my washing in the laundry and start another day.

Dear girl. Such courage. Thank you for these posts - the love shines through, and I am so glad to read of family & friends backing you up in person.

(((((Hugs, to you & to all your family)))))

Although I wish I could solve that motorbike.

Oh Mhags, I think I can safely say that we are all with you. We are all grateful for every day that you get, and such lovely photos of your special day..... We've never met you but we "know" you and you can take our love and good wishes along with those of your "real" friends.

I am on the train home now, the last leg of our holiday after a lovely day in Paris. Pleasures

    1 proper croissants and coffee
2 visited the Picasso museum and had a really interesting wander around after that and again after the
    3 lovely lunch with OH.
4 watched Suite Francaise on the Eurostar
5 DS is back from his European tour and is picking us up. Oh the blessing of having a son who can drive..
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Mhags, the biggest of thanks for posting the above and allowing us to share this most precious of precious times with you.

That cheesecake was something else. The kilts were definitely something else...
Thanks be given to those who do things like opening on days off because it makes things better for someone else.

What everyone else has said, too.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
  • Mhags hugs to you all. You are all in our thoughts and thank you for your wonderful posts.
  • Mhags, I've been checking on here for your posts. It may not feel like it right now, but the courageousness that comes through is something else.

It's so wonderful that new memories have been made with a life loved and lived.

You are in our thoughts through all of this. It is lovely that your friend dropped by rather than be scared of knowing what to say.

It looked a lovely party, MHags, with beautiful surroundings - and warm weather! Hope Monday is going well for you.

    Pleasures for today (Sunday).

    1) A lie in!

    2) Listened to the Archers.

    3) The tidy continues - under the stairs emptied out and hoovered. The big craft box is now in the back of my car - the end of an era. :-( We have used clay, paints, chalk, paper and card, stamps - for so many years but they will be rehomed with my school friend's children on Tuesday (aged 4, 6 and 7).

    4) Tasty food for today, don't usually bother when I am here on my own. Porridge and raspberries from the freezer for breakfast. Made a large batch of soup so had that for lunch with some part baked rolls.

    5) Cleaned the bathroom and finally all the washing is done.

    6) Fed the hens, cleaned their sleeping end out and they "helped" me with some digging.

    7) My brother came for tea. Jamie Oliver's chilli and some veg shepherds pie from the freezer, some braised red cabbage (also from the freezer) and a jacket potato each. Made a raisin and banana cake later (had run out of dates!)

    8) In bed with 2 hwb and might watch the Hospital programme on Iplayer as so many people have recommended it.

    Evening all :)

Mhags and clan, I'm sending you all much love.

    Five pleasures from recently:

    1. Clean bedding tonight.

    2. Very happy phone call with my parents. On a whim they'd gone out for a traditional Sunday lunch to a very local restaurant, had eaten masses, made it home and still couldn't move many hours later because they were still so full. :) Huge expedition for them - I'm really impressed.

    3. Lots of crocuses coming up in the garden.

    4. Did tons of washing including two cream (but looked grey before the wash) rugs from our downstairs rooms.

    5. Watching Testament of Youth - I'd read the book ages ago but this was the first time I'd seen this film.

    Sweet dreams
