5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) A lie in and cup of tea brought by bigger son.
2) Made sausage and egg sandwiches for breakfast.
3) Went to see the hens - 2 eggs today, one very pale. (They usually all lay brown eggs).
4) Went geocaching. Perhaps you all heard the protestations and moaning about how cold it is? Smaller son not really in the mood for walking (!) but bigger son wanted to go. Walked along the canal then out across a former railway track. Had hot chocolate and samosas half way round.
5) Sainsburys for lunch and shopping.
6) Had a tidy up, lit fire etc.
7) Smaller son did his physics homework - specific heat capacity. I gave him a hand, after finding out what it is!
8) Started preparation for applying for super-job. After 2 years of not knowing what I am doing at work (and no one telling me what I should be doing) it was lovely to read about SPECTRUM, Collections Trust, all the old policies that I had to write. And MDA codes!
9) Did smaller son's favourite game - he lies on my bed and gets the duvet wafted over him (surprisingly hard work). When the duvet gets flicked in the air, he has to manoeuvre before it lands again. Bigger son took over the wafting for a while.
10) In bed now with 1 hwb and will listen to June Brown on Desert Island Disks - doppelganger to my grandma.
Very busy week coming up with after work training, lots of coursework to crack on with, parent evening for smaller son, extra parent evening to discuss bigger son, football etc...0 -
Hugs to mhags and hospital staff
And to lainey
1) staying in the cosy warm while it sleeved
2) pasta and veg with sweet chilli dipping sauce stirred in as an experiment. I vote success
3) mr piano came back with mr student from church quite late then made shepherds pie. I had it for tea -yummy
4) gbf came round and walked the dogs. I have a new exercise from the physio which made my knee sorer but it is mobilising it. Decided though to skip the walk
5) mr piano cooked curry for tea. Guess what I'm having for lunch :P

1. Spent time in the greenhouse planting seeds. I love starting to plant seeds. It was chilly though.
2. DH moved a tree that had outgrown a pot which I have been thinking of moving for about a year but it was too heavy for me to move by myself.
3. Potted up the pot with some primroses and daffodils. Hopefully the daffodils will grow as they were bulbs I hadn't planted. The primroses were from a flower bed.
4. Enjoying a cup of coffee to warm up.
5. Enjoyed watching The Jump as DS2 wanted to see it.
6. DS2 won at cricket and made man of the match. Not bad as he wasn't sure of the rules for indoor cricket.
7. DS1 rang so had a chat with him. He had the day off.0 -
Thank you for your kind words re Mum.
Gentle thoughts to Mhags and family.
Some pleasures for the weekend,
The birds are so tame now that they all sit in the apple tree waiting for me to fill up the feeders, now I know how a school dinner lady must feel
Am persevering with my book although not sure, picked it up because the synopsis read similar to the Shardlake series by CJ Samson which I adore, will keep going.
Continuing to sort through a huge pile of family photos / mementos and have packaged up a number to be sent to cousins etc, so many happy memories.
The quiet stillness of an early morning walk with the girls, we had some snow too so big dog was very happy.
Listening to the Museum of Curiosity, never thought of blu tack as a love aid before :rotfl:0 -
- I have eaten my first Hot Cross bun of the year this morning, delicious
- I treated myself to a proper coffee this morning rather than an instant one
- It's Valentines day tomorrow which means date night!
- I'll be trying to advance my photo skills before the summer using Calumets camera shop guides https://www.calphoto.co.uk/photo-guides
- I'm going to treat myself to something special for tomorrows date night, maybe this ??? http://www.missselfridge.com/en/msuk/product/dress-shop-299048/view-all-299126/petite-twist-back-dress-6293352?bi=0&ps=40
I'm ready for Monday and the week ahead! Nat xx0 -
Very quickly as its bedtime.
Cool day ...needed a cardi!
Chasing a blooming dog first thing. Side gate had been left open so off he'd trotted to front garden where front gate was wide open. He ( so far) doesn't venture out but loves the front garden. He can run and sniff and mooch around. Son & I like a pair of dafties trying to catch him!
Much hospital this afternoon. Made my point very clear ( had an upset on Friday) ...issue resolved. Mhags 1- brand new doctor not listening to me 0
Macaroni for tea . Had called from train to say cook pasta so very quickly made cheese sauce when I got in.
Chat to sister on phone.
The lovely kindness of our local pharmacist. He is such a lovely young man. Always politely calls me Mrs *** ( I think he's the only person who does nowadays) ....I couldn't remember the name of a drug, he couldn't think what it might be...this went on for a few minutes....I've since photographed said drug & will show him tomorrow . Anyway had a good chat .
Have a happy Monday . Bedtime here and cool enough for an extra blanket ...last week too hot for a sheet!0 -
1) It's 15 degrees outside and I'm truly warm for the first time in months.....it's blissful!
2) A whole bank covered in wide open bright blue speedwell flowers, the most heavenly blue just shining in the sunshine.
3) Blossom on trees, grape hyacinths open in gardens and the first few blossoms of japonica in that gorgeous coral pink open today when Cookie and I were walking.
4) My neighbour turned up with a beautiful bunch of daffs for me that were buy one get two for the price, what a lovely surprise.
5) Just seeing the sunshine and being warm is the most appreciated lift of spirits, even if it's only one day, what a day it is!!!0 -
Feeling downright miserable over here I won't deny, so this thread is great.:o
1.What a difference a bit of sunshine makes, I was rather noticeably straight out in it, I do think spring is my favourite season. :j
2.In the green house I dug out some bulbs we purchased from a steam fair last year, this chap has the best plants, and all the spring ones had got impatient and started to grow so I planted them all out in containers various, crocus, saffron and some flowers I have no idea how to spell but that look like they will be sweet and colourful. Tomorrow I will get all the wall containers ready for when we find some begonias.:D
3. A lovely episode of Father Brown of course, lunch is always timed to conincide with it.:rotfl:
4. Dinner was spag bol as I happen to have some pork mince that needs using, packed with various veg. and the leftover will make a chilli tomorrow.
5. Watching all the birds on the feeders as I re stocked them, and listening to what must be a nest nearby as I gardened.:)0 -
Quick pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Work went on and on with a training evening afterwards, but was not too bad.
3) Have spent the evening working on silly training course and have got half of last module done...
4) Watching First Dates.
5) Going to bed after it's finished!0 -
(((Hugs))) to PK Mhags & Lainey and anyone else in need
PK I am enjoying the Father Brown repeats too
Mrs LW I love to hear of your walks and all the blooms and blossoms you see. It must be really pretty where you live & I am in awe of your floral knowledge !
Frith - it is such a joy to read about smaller son. Well done to bigger son on getting his college place - maybe he will be more settled now he knows what he's doing after school - it can be a very unsettling time for them
1. back to work - thankfully the morning went quickly. Lovely sun when I left work and managed to get some washing out and mostly dried on the line
