Some extras.
1. A follow up phone call for a survey I did the other day resulted in £10 in my bank account. This follows on from an unexpected payment from another source last Friday. Really welcome.

2. An invoice submitted and another probable payment lined up in addition. I am really pleased that I took the chance to buy some needed independent living items from Aldi, as the prices were too good to miss. I would have been ok without the extra income but it would have been closer than it usually is to a negative balance.

3. Shirley Goode's fishcakes were an absolute treat. Full of flavour. I still have two left for another meal.

4. The pleasure of a new routine of sitting and enjoying a cuppa on my perching stool in the kitchen. For the last two years many of my hot drinks have been taken standing up as carrying a hot drink with two sticks is a challenge. I have my travel mugs but it isn't the same as a china mug cuppa.

5. The parcel delivery guy leaving my parcels at the door rather than with next door. :) Fifteen minutes saved!
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

1. We're decorating our bedroom at the moment and actually enjoyed stripping the wallpaper yesterday evening for a couple of hours. Listened to some music.

2. DS2 cooked tea. Lasagne from the freezer!! He did cook an apple and cranberry crumble which was tasty.

3. DH saw MIL who is the same still at home and still not mobile.

4. Long talk with colleague and she seemed happier at the end.of it. She needs someone to listen to her sometimes.

5. Reading my book. Had tidied the house previously so didn't feel I needed to do anything else.

Good morning from Friday. It's been a tiresome week. OH not at his best, I think we may be heading back in to hospital . It's been very hot and humid which I'm just rather miserable with so didn't really have any outstanding daily pleasures...but there have been a few:

Went to optician and I do need new specs ( thought I did , readings been a struggle ) and he very kindly gave me a discount on my frames because of our home situation. He has some benevolence fund he can use. After being slightly mortified and him being slightly insistent , I decided to say yes please and thank you. His daughter goes to my daughter's school. He previously had cancer and I think he maybe just wanted to 'pay it forward'

A few nice dinners this week. Lasagne, lovely cottage pie that I had put grated cheese on top of potato and last night I had 2 boiled eggs and soldiers! Was rather lovely.

Found a nice green top ( which will match my nice greeny glasses when I get them) at Salvos.

Went for a very early breakfast at DD2 school. Up ever so early ...I'm normally awake just not normally out and about! It was a beautiful morning for a walk to school. A lovely spread had been put on for the oarents and year 12 pupils. Lovely walk back home.

That's about it. Not a lot for 5 days . But in amongst my day are kindnesses, beautiful flowers, especially roses coming back for a second hurrah, my lovely dog boy who has a freezer door shelf filled with ice blocks just for him, it's so hot and he appreciates them as he crunches and licks them to cool down. The birds are singing in the cool(er) ness of morning, they tend to go quiet in the heat, so it's nice to hear them.

Quick pleasures for today as am very tired.

1) Not a bad sleep.

2) Not decking the woman who sweeps in to teach our course at work. :-/ I just said I was going to use a computer elsewhere, in a rather strangled voice. Have downgraded the course I am on to a lower level so I can finish it faster. It is an absolute nonsense.

3) Popped out to get hen food then bigger son and I cleaned their sleeping shed out, fed them some nice scraps etc.

4) Had duck for tea from the freezer (shot by brother) with mash and mixed veg. Then raspberry pavlova, raspberries also ours from the freezer.

5) Another lovely email from one of the jobs I turned down (how I regretted that action today!) Seems I can do voluntary work there at any time, which will stand me in good stead if I reapply next year.

6) Having vague thoughts about upgrading my PGDip to an MA... then noticed the prices have risen from about £2000 when I did mine to £7000!!!!! Thought it was not clear how much just an upgrade would cost...

7) Pretty much did bigger son's maths homework for him as I keep getting emails about how far behind he is, and he had stomped off in a huff. Then did an hour of different equations and I think I have actually learned it properly!

8) In bed with 3 hwb now and am pleased to say the new storage heaters are working well, the one in the living room is still too hot to hold your hand on for long.

9) Trying to think of some nice things to do over half term. Will have to fit in some DIY and sand down then paint where the storage heaters are not quite as big as the old ones...

Well done, Frith. I know violence is never the answer - but sometimes it feels like it.

1. The train turned up in time for me to make my meeting
2. Lovely meeting with lovely lady who provided me with some fab background info.
3. Made my 1 minute train connection, so i didn't have to spend 2 hours at Wolverhampton
4. Walk by the sea in ICT - although it is bleedin Baltic
5. My conference paper abstract has been accepted with few amendments. Just got to write the full paper now.:p

Have a good one all
I wanna be in the room where it happens
• Mhags thinking of you all over there, and envious of the beautiful weather.
Frith: Well done on finding the positives from work.

Some for yesterday
There are pleasures but it hasn’t been a great few days, df had a diabetic hypo, and had another diagnosis he doesn’t know about he is recovering. DH’s hospital apt today didn’t go well but a lot of tests later awaiting results maybe Mon.
1.DH’s prescription ordered in, ouchy prescription charges though so pre paid for 3 months as I don't know how many there maybe.
2.Cold meats and hot potatoes was dinner.:)
3.I did a dangerous look online at a clothes store some lovely things but just “window shopped” and decided not looking is probably the best option.
4. Snow flurries and it’s snow showering now.
5. Some vague tidying happening.
6. The animals have dug out a very old ikea blue crinkly bag from their toy box many years old but it’s the new thing of the moment.

Friday at last.
1) mr piano gave me a lift to the physio. i was going to get a bus but it was snowy so i thought about a taxi. so that saved me :D
2) physio was good. still can't quite straighten knee, nor does it bend quite as much as the other, but we are definitely improving. she's knocked off one exercise and given me 3 more.
3) all day meeting came with lunch. lots of mini muffins left over and i just happened to have a sandwich bag...
4) managed to get emails down to 500. yes seriously that was my aim for the week! (they got to nearly 1000 beginning of last week). have set myself target of 300 for next week.
5) book club tonight. very beautiful book - the unlikely pilgrimage of harold fry to follow last month's choice of the love songs of miss queenie hennessey. need to set off in 40 minutes. fear if i go have a lie down i might not get up this side of tomorrow...
