    1. Feeling happy that I've been able to chat to my lovely friend Nic, whose dad sadly died yesterday. We were able to laugh and cry about him and I will continue to keep in regular touch with her.

    2. Feeling very happy for the friend I went to dinner with yesterday as she sent me a photo of a £100 winning bingo card!

    3. Stayed in bed til midday, naughty but nice....and thankfully I am no longer persona non grata, no idea why it's all blown over but relieved it has.

    4. DD and I had a lazy afternoon of watching DVDs, as she was feeling grotty and neither of us wanted to go out.

    5. Bought a couple of "sale bargains" which will be put aside for later events during the year. Trying so hard to be more organised again, I've let things slip recently.

    6. Weighed myself and fewer kg have gone back on than I thought over Christmas....but to try and make sure they don't all creep back on during my self-congratulatory period, I had a mountain of broccoli and green beans rather than a second or third potato at dinner (polishes halo, whilst attempting to forget about the cashews and the glass of Baileys tonight, lol)
  • All of you writing out your pleasures makes me feel happy when I read through them. Ya'll are the best bunch!

    * Darling DH barbecued chicken at a friend's and brought it home as we have no stove. Yum and more yum!! Lots of cold sides and veggies that could be nuked. Not optimal but great none the less. Better than spending on carry out (UK translation = take away.....not sure about Mchag land)

    * Feeling better after being in migrant hell yesterday. I feel like I have a bad hangover with out the pleasure of getting one!

    * DD3 finally has time to catch up on mundane but needful tasks now that she has graduated uni. Working full time and school were alot to manage and so some things went undone.

    * Watching DH eat the stocking candy a little at a time. He has both his and mine EXCEPT FOR THE CHOCOLATE!!
I could not nor would not be talked into handing it over!!

    * Pictures of Quoy! in her slightly too large snow suit. They are staying in a cabin in the cold snowy Rocky Mountains and having too much fun. Her best friend Kieran (age 2 yrs) and family also went. She is learning to tell him no and set boundaries when he tries to push her down. (Girl power!) He is learning to not be so rough and listen when she says no. They attended their first movie 'Sing' in a theater and stood and squealed in between dancing and singing. It's that kind of kids movie and they were among all the other kids standing and dancing. (not sure if they were squealing too but my migrainy hangovered state made me cringe just thinking of all that noise)

    * Learning new words in Brit speak. (GQ's term for my education in understanding what is being said or inferred) MITHERING I JUST LOVE THIS WORD!!:D
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Morning all, I don't need to be awake early so of course I am awake early.

DD thanks for your kind words. I am very proud of you, if I am allowed to be.
Mila - mithering is a great word
Giddy - in All my 53 years I had never heard "Lang may your lum reek", yet I have heard it three times this year

    Pleasures

    1. Survived new year. Not my favourite time. Enjoyed Robbie on the TV and we had roast beef. My Yorkies (Mila, Yorkshire puddings) were perfect, as was the gravy. Plated up two further dinners from the leftovers for the freezer.
    2. Took the decks down yesterday. I wanted to make the point to the MiL that yesterday was the last of the festivities and today, for us, is a normal working day. She hates going back and was hinting at staying longer so the point had to be made.
    3. Went on a local steam train. Had a full English (Mila, cooked breakfast)
    4. Spent an hour by myself in the kitchen. Made a mincemeat lattice tart for pud, using up the mincemeat. Made a quiche, using up pastry, bacon and some cream. Tea was leftover beef, quiche, salads, baguette, cheeses,. Most things now used up with very little thrown (mainly manky veg).
    5. Watched sir Benedict of Cumberbatch in Sherlock

    Have a great day all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Good evening from my window seat at hospital. Been here since early this morning...I've done a 12 hour shift! Friend picking me up very kindly in half an hour.

Both girls have been in to visit at separate times.

I have started a bullet journal. In addition to my medical journal...not to be confused!

Last night I phoned my sister in law and then my sister to bring them up to date of our situation.

It's been a day most chilly apparently our coldest January day in years....I wouldn't know I've been wrapped in a shawl all day as room is so chilly with aircon. However temps to ramp up again tomorrow so I shall be glad of that shawl!

I have eaten courtesy of my husbands food tray! They are constantly bringing food! I've had a slice of toast when I came in , an orange , raisin toast and the remnants of his lasagne!

Right, I need to gather my things, do our daily selfie , say goodbye and head out into the cold!

    Have a lovely day :)

    Some pleasures for yesterday,

Usual start to a Sunday for us with bacon butties and the Hurchers omnibus.

DM is now in the hospice, it's a beautifully peaceful environment and her room looks out on the garden so she can watch the birds all day.

We all sat and looked at a family photo album that started with my parents on honeymoon and went through to us kids as toddlers, pleasure was DM remembering all names and places so clearly.

Dreadful drive home in heavy rain and spray, very thankful to get home in one piece.

Tucked up safe and warm at home, the dogs snoozing on the rug, we watched and thoroughly enjoyed Pride.
  • 1) A lovely walk along the footpaths in the sunshine with He Who Knows this afternoon, the first time he's felt like going out since he caught his cold.

    2) The first daffodils in bloom in a sunny spot on the footpath, cheerful in the sun.

    3) Lots of birdsong and bird activity as we walked, I think the sunshine and it being slightly warmer today has cheered them up too!

    4) A beautiful sunset over the river and utter stillness outside.

    5) Jacket potatoes and salad for supper some 'normal food' after the deliciousness of Christmas which will be very nice.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR! _party_

Having been ill for the last couple of weeks, I'm SLOWLY beginning to feel more human - just in time for work tomorrow! New Year's Eve was celebrated on my lonesome (with a box of tissues) on the sofa, whilst DH went to a friend's house for their massive party. Another friend, who we were putting up for the night, came back an hour into the massive party as she had a headache... so we sat and chatted, before both going to bed before midnight. Needless to say, DH didn't leave the house yesterday....

    Pleasures:

    1) Went to the rugby yesterday and saw my parents. Ok, so we lost (and our Director of Rugby has now left...), but it was a good match and much promise. Also good to see friends and put the world to rights.

    2) A beautiful day today, so DH (now MUCH better!!) and I went for a walk. As did many other people, but it was great to be out. I was glad to see the sun as I've been feeling under the weather (mentally, as well as everything else!) recently.

    3) Started on the massive Christmas take down. So sad to say goodbye to those cards.

    4) Trying to spend my Lakeland voucher which my brother gave me for Christmas. The question is, what NOT to buy!

    5) Back to cooking from scratch. Always very satisfying finding new recipes.

  • Hope this is on target down under :heartpuls :heartpuls

5 Big Warster train not running, so we got the two horse coach home instead. Wobbleades were consumed and Joe gaffs food eaten. Tum was rubbed vigorously. Burps occurred.

4 Gym this morning, shave and new beard strimmer used. Bristles are rough. Nice.

3 Listened to the footies on tv. Going to think dry January is not on the cards. PM2DD #UTM 100% record this year. Game on.

2 Night is quiz night got some UCS to catch up on.
