    4. Really nice to properly put thought into food and drink making sensible choices.:o
    5. I am trying “mindfulness” and I have to say I feel like it works.:)

I also am thinking more about food. Have been really fed up with having to plan it all lately but others in the house come up with boring stuff also. therefore decided I need to put thought into it. Been pandering to DS too long, i think. I won't do the eat it or else thing as he is now 17, but i think he can just have the same stuff over and over while we have interesting food :rotfl: It's been better since i started this and he said he is happy to eat on a weekly food rota.

Also think i could benefit from mindfulness - i will look into it.

    Pleasures lately

    1. Autumn leaves - i only really like summer, as I have said ad nauseum. but trying to train myself to appreciate spring and autumn. I will never like winter.
    2. Lovely evening with my lovely sister last weekend. FN (Favourite Niece) wasn't there as she is at Uni now.
    3. then a lovely day on Sunday in London. BiL cooked a delicious bacon butty before i left, train to London then a walk from Victoria to St Pancras via my favourite Wild Food Cafe
    http://www.wildfoodcafe.com/

expensive but nice as a once-in-a-while treat
    4. Met DD at St. Pancras and we spent a few hours in that area. haven't seen her in 6 weeks, which is probably the longest i haven't seen her ever. Then we went to In The Heights at the theatre. Very different and excellently done.
    5. Caught a late train home from St. P. Sat down and got out my book to read. Two chaps got on and one said "don't bother with that book, we want to know all about you" :rotfl:. Another lady got the same treatment when she joined us. :rotfl: A lively two hours conversation passed very quickly.
    6. Trip to Manchester on monday. Caught the trans pennine train so very pretty - but I was trying to read my text book. Lunch with former colleagues then met DS and we went to the Oasis exhibition.
    7. Train down to Ice Cream Town yesterday. A bit grim but i got here and a lovely evening to myself before OH and DS arrive later. Beautiful walk by the sea but mis-timed the sunset - so missed it. Waved to Frith (who I think is in Borth) across the water.

Better get some good work in today before we have a day out tomorrow. We were going to climb Snowdon, but not sure the weather is going to be conducive....
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    1. Crunching through autumn leaves.
    2. Hanging the autumn/winter bird feeders back up after a summer break.
    3. Book tokens for my birthday yesterday, and a tube of Japanese flower teas.
    4. Books: this week Re-reading Gaimans 'Neverwhere' and Chestertons collected poems and 'The Man Who was Thursday.'
    5. More books (bit of a dull post today). A biography of Josephine Tey, a gift from a good friend.
    6. Just being alive, and well, and breathing. Especially breathing after a week with a head cold :)
  • VJs how on earth to you pick from such wonderful looking food? I am intrigued by it all...except the shake with mushrooms. Reminds me of things we tried in the 60's. :D

Capella, I'm an October girl too.

    2. a short walk in the sunshine

    3. spotted a new garden bird - looking at RSPB website I think it was a grey wagtail ... which is actually more colourful than the name suggests as it has a lemon yellow under chest/tail

    4. visit from work went well lots of things in place for reduced hours return to work from Monday

    5. leftover roast pork for tea in curry sauce

  • VJsmum, I’m trying a free app called Headspace, for the mindfulness for 10 mins. Also, I am in awe of people talking to you on the train, I wish that was the norm.
    Cappella. A belated Happy Birthday.
    1. DH and I both woke up feeling a bit rough, so went back to sleep, we are not feeling to well at all but a pleasure to be able to relax.

    2. Lunch was a soup for dh and a tuna spud for me, dinner is chicken fillet and avocado and tomato in a seeded roll with chips. Is it a KFC or alikes fake away??:o

    3. DF gave us 3kg of organic rye flour, I started to experiment today and I am about to make some oat and chocolate chip cookies.

    4.
I was just about to re list an animal cage we have for sale when I received 3 enquiries about it this morning, I replied to the first one, he’s just paid cash and taken it while being examined by the ferrets. Perfect. That’s been put in the vet kitty.:T

    5.
Pleasure to get it done: Bill rationalisation, I phoned up the mobile place and gave notice, getting the pac code I had to tell them 15 times I want to cancel, wow it was painful but I got there eventually. I phoned the mortgage company about their refund letter, it’s a very very small refund but hey it’s a refund. While on a roll I phoned the internet company and had a massive argument with them, we have a capped bill at 15 per month. They took £155 for last month, needless to say when I quoted their contract etc they then had the gaol to say how about we refund half.:eek: Half :eek:I told them in no uncertain terms that Ofcom will be happy to hear of this and while they are at it they can cancel all future payments. The end of it was all charges re credited to my account for last month and for this month. Now I have the joy of finding a new provider Sky were doing a fantastic MSE deal but we missed it.

    * No remodeling today as the builder was helping his uncle move into a new house. A nice break.

    * Errands accomplished some needed checks off the list.
Flu shot for me and second pneumonia shot for DH. (The pleasure was getting it done)
Early voting for the presidential election. Not crowded, very fast and easy.
A Sturdy metal pole was bought to hang up clothes out of the dryer. I have a big standing metal clothes rack in there that was wonderful when the children were here. Youngest is now 30  It nice to get it out of the laundry room. The pole will be affixed between two cabinets. Just enough room. :)

    * Nice breakfast out with DH. I contacted the restaurant chain via their web site to complain about their new brand of tea. The company has already responded and will forward my comments to the appropriate dept. Hopefully enough people will also dislike this abomination they have the nerve to call English Breakfast causing them to rethink their choice and change it to something drinkable.

    * Cubbies won last night and now the World Series is tied 1-1. Third game in Chicago tomorrow.

    * Hanging up 70% off sale blouses in my closet. :j

Happy Halloween ! Even to Pirate Pete....because I'm nice like that :) it's the last Friday in October , so Halloween in my home town and my tiny corner of Australia!

There have been pleasures in last few days.

We saw oncologist and he okayed another chemo for OH, we weren't sure if it would go ahead. ( he's feeling very under the weather today though :()

I made tablet yesterday morning, had to get up early whilst it was still cool.

DD1 carved the pumpkin last night. With a star and some shooting starry trails. We had a Halloween lunch today.

So many roses in full bloom.

Met with one of the staff at DD2's school who I'm friendly with. Nice to catch up.

Application for carers allowance made....what a palaver but it's in. Think Centrelink is one of these ' abandon hope all who enter here ' places. Anyway, payment will be backdated .

Nice chat with friend from home this morning.

Always huggles and schnuggles with my dog boy.

Have a great weekend. Think I may have a challenging work day tomorrow but it's my last one for a few weeks. So I will endure!

  • 1) The news this morning that my Zebra who I've been looking after this week because he's been VERY poorly is much better today, thank goodness for that!

    2) Getting home on the train late last night, being picked up by He Who Knows and getting back home to a lovely wood fire, a lovely welcome by Cookie and sleeping in my bed, the best.

    3) Knowing that DD1s trip to Paris with the language department and assorted school children was a huge success, they've done so much and seen and done so many things I think they'll sleep for the rest of half term, apparently vastly enjoyed by ALL.

    4) Many bargains YSwise at the Co Op in the village this morning and a coupon for a 'trick or treat' gift of some dish washer tablets for free, what's not to like?

    5) The smell of the soup simmering on the stove for our lunch, the prospect of a Cookie walk by the river later on, my armchair, my slippers and peace and quiet of home, priceless!

BoP - 1969 you say? I think you're being a little modern there! It would have been the sort of place my grandparents took my father on holiday back in the 50s... (although the food is delicious and service good, the place is stuck in a time warp).

ampersand - I LOVE Rich Hall and his dry sense of humour, so I look forward to listening to that download.

    Pleasures:

    1) Took myself to the Sophie Allport factory shop. Managed to get a couple of Christmas presents.

    2) Lovely times catching up with various friends this week before next week's onslaught of the run up to Christmas!

    3) Continuing to sort and recycle. I suspect this sort of task is a little like the painting of the Forth Bridge.

    4) New, lower cost and lower interest rate, mortgage has been confirmed. We'll continue to overpay over the next couple of years to put us in an even better position. I'd love to be mortgage free (well, I'd love a new house in a lovely village, but let's just be realistic for a moment!) sooner.

    5) Cup of tea time. Helps and soothes in equal measures.
