Evening all - 10 mins till my train gets in....
1. journey down OK, got lots done
2. nice walk by the sea
3. dad was perky
4. Funeral was ok, as they go. Very simple, quite quick. Elderly aunt seemed to have lost one husband and gained another that i didn't know about. When we went in, the order of service gave her surname as something i didn't know, then in the eulogy they didn't mention her second husband.... Strange. Not sure i recognised her from the eulogy - it wasn't just me, my two brothers, cousin and an uncle (her brother) said the same. Not sure she was really as nice as they made out - though she was always ok with me.
5. lovely wake, catching up with family. Shame it's always at funerals we meet, but there are plans afoot to catch up under nicer circumstances. An old wound with an uncle was healed...
6. (borrowed from yesterday) I have driven to the station, so should be home in less than 10 mins....

DDI have loved you accounts of your Venice trip so much...even the fall (and of course like most humans do, I smiled when you described that incident...why do we laugh when someone else falls down? Bad Mila!!! )
Now that you have described the bacon buttie (thank you) VJsmum I know I would love having it for breakfast! Or any other time.
Love reading what all of you are doing!

2. As we were part of the way there already we pondered a few towns on, but the CS’s provided nowt, however we did have to do a second trip to the car as we bought so much fruit and veg from the market stand, a big bag full for £6.:rotfl:
3. Usual at the caf fed the 2 of us for a tenner it was lovely to enjoy someone else’s cooking, even more appreciated on a tight budget.:o
4. Not such a pleasure our wonderful washing machine we treated ourselves to many years ago now has told us for the past few months its trying to pack up only today it did it in style:eek:. So dh is taking it apart to operate tomorrow again, we have found a hopeful pre loved one on the bay which ends tomorrow it has bidders already so we will see.
5. It’s been nice to just relax with DH today, no fixing and repairing etc, just movies, chocolate and searching for 2nd hand appliances.:o0 -
Good morning from a Sydney Sunday , unfortunately its lashing with rain at the moment...best laid plans and all that. We had hoped to go for an early morning walk with stunning views ...I only have my sandals with us, no jacket and no umbrella! The forecast had been dry!
We left Albury on the Vic/ NSW border yesterday morning and drove for another 6 hours ( with a couple of breaks for petrol/ stretch of legs.
We are staying with friends who are just so lovely. Their house is gorgeous, their cat is gorgeous, the food was so gorgeous ...good company , met some familiar people and met some really nice new ones and sat and chatted. We were outside until about 10pm. Poor DD2 was eaten alive by mosquitoes which strangely I seem to have escaped. Think they all ate her. It was just such a lovely late afternoon and evening.
Even in the face of so very many cakes and desserts I resisted and no sugared...DD1 was trying to tempt me by saying just have a day off but no, no thankyou!
Right, I'm getting up for a shower! See what the rest of the day brings us. Going out for breakfast at 9am and then will start the long drive home by midday. We just had hoped to do an early morning walk at 7.30am.0 -
Msp I have loved every minute of my first trip to Venice. Tomorrow i go home so for now
1) the dinner at the arsenale was absolutely lovely, and we sang auld Lang syne on the boat coming back
2) organised bit over, lie in this morning. Bliss
3) then off to follow miss garnett's footsteps. 1st stop, church of the plague (San Sebastian) where restorations meant internal scaffolding just like in the book. Added pleasure - organist practising so free concert
4) san raphael's and saw Tobit with his fish and Raphael and his dog
5) then san Nicholas with wedding in an hour- organist doing run through so another free concert
6) then up to ghetto where Sarah's flat was
7) then north to stone camel (can't remember where camel is mentioned, but on map at beginning of book)
8) then back down to hotel via supermarket for tea back in hotel room
9) at which point organisers of week called in for chin wag
10) then one of group knocked on door - she'd fallen, gashed her forehead and had to be whizzed off to hospital in a water ambulance. Fortunately doctor spoke very good English and she now sports a neat row of 5 stitches. I made her a cup of tea
11) then off to restaurant for my last dinner in Venice. Didn't have wine as one of the Canadians had given me some red last night. Mse habits to the end and now drinking a glass before I turn in. Night all xxxMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

My pleasures for today
1. Hospital check up all ok told no work for 2 weeks.
2. More sunshine.
3. Read more free book on kindle.
4. After arguing with Dh earlier, now sorted and had a cuddle.
5. Watched a good film tonight.0 -
* Chicken and wild rice soup plus peach cobbler.
* hall cabinet cleaning continues. This time it was medicine. Oh heavens  at what I'd kept and the age of it... shuffles off to empty heavy trash can....Hurray me for being a bit more ruthless!!!
* exSIL (at last night's visit) said she has rehomed 33 kittens from feral mommy cats. She takes the mothers to be spayed and have their shots then releases them to their territory. Excellent work at controlling feral population in her areas of town. Our town has a program that spays/neuters and vaccinates feral populations, but Anne's does not. She has spent a lot of money doing this service but just loves being useful to her little cat friends. It all started with one mother cat having kittens in her shed.
* DH was a slight grump last night but tried, in his way, to apologize this morning. (You have to read between the lines) He wanted to go to a football game on the way back to our town, if we got through with dinner in time, and got a bit testy when we all kept visiting. (our team wasn't even playing)
*
*Overprepare, then go with the flow.
