  • * My feather pillow...I take it with me when I travel. Am I the only one who takes a pillow when away from home? Helps me sleep.

    * Granddawgs back with their mom!!!! It was a long haul but somebody had to do it. Why not the retired parentals? Wonderful road trip there and back with my love. He's such a charmer.

    * World's best steak fingers (crispy crust and juicy steak) with cream gravy devoured in Tatum New Mexico pop. 839...enormous plate split with the Hunk and enough left over to graze on tonight. BoP the secret is lots and lots of black pepper in the gravy.

    * It rained last night! :T:T:T Special event!!!!!!!!! No toungue in check used here. Forecast for more rain in the next few days. Special photos of DGD with flowered rain coat donned, playing in a mud puddle. A rare picture for a rare event. Thunder now and it sounds marvelous! The pastures between here and DD2's house (3 hrs N.)were burnt up and even a little rain will make them green again.

    * Cappela closing in on her UFO. (Unfinished object) This made me smile for her. The wincing started when I thought of all of mine...

    * Mhags husband. Making life as normal as possible by going to work. What a great man. This is such an incredible family walking this road they are on. Take note! This is how we should all aspire to be when hit by such unfathomable adversity.

    * Waving hello :hello:to Mrs. LW and everyone else from way over here in New Mexico! The balloons will be in the air again in a few months

    1. DfV's epic post x

    2. VickyA - welcome back :) Are you Y2 or Y6, SATS talk *shudder* ...thankful I'm staying in LKS2!

    3. DD's lovely spa day to come x

    4. VfM's epic post, loved reading about SA and the great crafting initiative, will keep my fingers crossed for you x

    5. Miss Kittikins came into my new school with me to help me finish off (well, nearly...) setting up my new room. Apart from a distinct lack of whiteboards for the children to write on, and having to rejig things in resource drawers to 'find' 6 more to make sure I had enough for the children's personal bits!!, I'm sorted. Soooo relieved and it feels like home already :)

    6. We also went for a swim - I signed up to the website for a free swim, yay! So it was rather MS :) (If only DD hadn't left her swimming costume draped over her changing cubicle....cue desperate ordering of a new one for our holiday in a week's time!!)

    7. We had a lovely hot chocolate and cake afterwards, at the Co$ta concession, the cake must have been non-Co%ta, as it was remarkably cheap, thank goodness!

    8. Found a closer free parking road - in the morning we had to walk about a mile uphill (eek) to where I'd parked the night before. Darn these resident parking streets in towns!

    9. A lovely friend came over for pizza and salad. It was nice to entertain and put the world to rights over a glass of wine :)

    10. We bought a pinata cupcake mix from the supermarket, perfect entertainment for DD and her friend later today, I hope!!

    Tuesday's Five:

    1. Me and the MIL looking like the Chuckle Brothers when trying to get a huge old armchair downstairs
    2. Sausage casserole - getting used to this cooking malarkey
    3. A very happy puppy
    4. A quick catch up chat with a friend
    5. Chocolate milkshake :)
  • Morning everyone,

1 – Arranged to meet friends at their house on Saturday night for a take-away and a wee drink. This is the first time I’ll have ever done this and I now officially feel ‘older’.
2 – I had breakfast for dinner last night and I loved it!! Poached eggs and ham on toast. Goodness, I could go that again right now.
3 – Game of Thrones. Finished the 2nd series last night and it was a goodie. I do enjoy chilling out to a good TV series
4 – I attended a free training course through a company called Business Gateway. It was called Mastering Selling Skills and was really useful, considering it was free. Came away with some handy tips which I’ll look to use in my new job.
5 – Fresh bed linen. When I crawled into bed it was just heavenly. The simple things.

    Have a lovely day everyone.

    Morning all

Mhags - your OH is a wonder and a half, isn't he? Boo to the carpy boss
BoP - You've been after someone fetching that jacket back for a while. i think you might have to give it up :p
DD (and &) - I think the tide is turning on Rob. Has to, the trial is only a month away.
MrsLW - I love being away but it does feel somewhat good to be back with my own stuff again.
Lainey - I read 2.5 books whilst on holiday and, you're right, it is one of life's pleasures. I resolve to spend less time on line and more in a reading book. Someone on one of my induction sessions said that they resolved to read a fiction (or non work related, anyway) book a month and i have failed woefully.
Vicky - Thanks, it was all fab. We, too, ate out most of the time. We had a house at the mountain lodge and revelled in cooking ourselves for two nights (well i revelled in the fact that OH cooked for two nights :rotfl:)
Yvie - Don't think i've said Hi, so  Stay here, this is the best thread on the forum..
Frith - glad you're having a lovely time
Capella - i love flowers in jugs, dunno why. Much prefer that to a vase
Mila - the concept of celebrating rain is a little alien to me. though I have been to NM so i kind of get it.
KK - Pizza, salad, wine and gossip - perfect. :) (was going to say b!tch, but you're probably a nicer person than me :p)
Smiley - to me, to you :rotfl: It never grows old
Speky - We ate so much bacon and egg on our hols, I thought i wouldn't eat any more for a month. Guess what i had this morning :D

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. Getting through the laundry
    2. DS had no problems at the dentist, everyone thinks he is older than he is so they looked a bit suprised that this huge older lad brought his mum to the dentist with him :o. i think he has to start going alone soon.
    3. Coffee with friend and admiring her new kitchen. She is off on her hols tomorrow so we only had one day out of the whole 6 weeks to catch up.
    4. Getting an email from the lodge in SA. With pictures of the girls club that we are going to buy the sewing machine for with some projects they had been working on.
    5. Gymnastics on the telly. Simone Biles - that is all.....:T

    Have a great day all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Hi, had started a post before but it seems to have disappeared .
Anyway, it's Wednesday evening ,been a busy day of appointments .

The day started bright and sunny with a very cold wind then became very dull with a very cold wind and is now very wet with a very cold wind.

Started taking Christmas decorations down, will take my time, no rush.

Had appointments at hospital this afternoon, someone kindly passed in their carpark ticket to us.saved $12.

GP kindly phoned this morning. Had visit from Palliative Care Team this morning.

Very quick dog walk around the block but lots of spring springing in the gardens, lots of blossom on trees, magnolia is stunning, camellias, jonquils, lemons on trees.

We were down to the last scoops of dog food so had to go to supermarket. I usually stock up when it's on offer but can't have a starving dog so had to pay full price, however, with offers and voucher for my spend I have $20 off next shop so almost a bag of dog food.

Said dog would not have been too hungry however! My lovely friend makes lovely biscuits and had made us Christmas tree ones with sparkly edible balls as decorations, gorgeous! Also ,Christmas wreath shaped ones. Ever so pretty. Haggis obviously thought so too! Son, said.."mum , did someone finish D's biscuits?"... Thought maybe DD2 had taken them to school, no...Haggis seemed to be the culprit! Bad dog!

It is now lashing with torrential rain! Very loud on the roof.

It was 3 excited children for tea tonight....fish fingers! A very rare occurrence in the Mhagster household!

I'd a sad moment today...sobbed whilst hanging out my washing. I've made porridge everyday for past 18 months for OH and today was the last day he felt he could manage physically to eat it. I know it's just a bowl of porridge but it signifies a lot more to me.

    Anyway...tomorrow is another day.

    Have a great day :)
  • There is a lot less about these days.

5 Went to see the car badge specialist last day. Went well I think. Move on, next.

4 Watched the t20 last night, had my pennies on the wrong team. Back to square 2. Will not be putting it on Luton this eve.

3 Just got the mobile version of the site to work. It will be live soon. It seems to work! Now dreaming of plaices like Riby Sq. You will see soon. MiE!

2 Day BoP is off out on his treader later to speed his wheels around the town. Then he will have to get ready for his rehab soon.

Now if you look over there, you can see the daylight

    Hugs MHags and MrMHags xxx
  • 1) My girls, both of who have been in contact today, one because she could and wanted a chat and the other to see if I could sit on the Zebra child in September while she covers something important at work. I love them sooooooo much, they're my friends as well as my daughters, they are the wind beneath my wings.

    2) My baby brother retired in the middle of July and came to visit today for the first time, we all somehow lost 3 hours wandering up and down the garden, drinking coffee, playing with Cookie and just generally chatting. He sat on the patio and said 'Isn't this nice, I mean time to do it, not having to worry about getting back but just having time to be!'.

    3) Much bargainage in Mr.T as I hit the store just as they did the big price reduction from the butchery counter, we have pork loin chops, sirloin steaks, lamb rump steaks, a whole black pudding and a great big wedge of Cambasola Blue cheese and with the rest of the groceries it all came in at less than £25. amazing!

    4) The fruit cage has arrived, I shall not have to fight the sparrows for the redcurrants next year, HOORAH!

    5) The beans haven't given me too many to process today, in fact the French beans haven't given me anything at all......well done those French beans!

Big gentle hugs to mhags and Mr mhags. Taken me a while to catch up, I'm sorry. xxx

Kittikins - Y6 SATs! I've been climbing up through the ages - I now have a mixed 5/6 class.

    Pleasures for the day:

    1) Out catching up with a friend. We popped to Mr J Lewis' shop and I bought a new pair of sunglasses using a voucher I'd got burning a hole in my handbag. £5 left on it, but I don't want to go too crazy!

    2) Headed to all the quality places with friend too - Savers, B&M, Wilkos. So much choice. Four pack of Branston beans for £1.29! Brilliant.

    3) Watching the Olympics (this may well be a pleasure for the next couple of weeks). Incredible determination and strength of character shown, never giving up. Doesn't matter whether we see it through sporting effort/achievement or in "normal" life, it's something to strive for.

    4) Signed up for an Italian language course via Future Learn (ie for FREE!).Loads of excellent courses on there.

    5) Booked for DH and I to visit my friend in Dubai next February. 6 months to go.... Not money saving, unless you count that we'll be staying with her. Actually, I do feel a duty of care to her - she's there by herself and the only other people who have visited her since being there have been her parents. And she's been a great friend for a number of years (20 years, but don't mention that!!! ).
