5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Tuesday's five pleasures:
1. A jumper for a good friend is finished and a new one is on the knitting needles. This one is knitted from the yoke down, a new skill to master but it seems to be growing well
2. The pleasure of knitting in a quiet room with the television switched firmly off, listening a a blackbird in the garden.
3. A cup of coffee with an old friend. Sharing news and opinions and playing chess together. I've known her for over 50 years now, and see her rarely as we live far away from each other so it will be a precious memory.
4. Skyping my sister who moved to France in May. Missing her doesn't ease the hurt of her also being far away, but it's so good to see her face. A miracle of technology.
5. Picking fat, juicy blackcurrants in our garden. We have fruit bushes on our allotments, but they are over a mile away. I popped slips into our tiny garden last year and the handful of fruit tastes so sharp and delicious.0 -
5 Just dumped BoPsie at mill. She is getting wobbleades fund slushed up. Needs come thirst. Now!
4 Interview today somewhere else. If this does not work, it's the college on Thursday! Eats head scarf.
3 Watched film last evening with BoPsie. Jimmy Bond. Spy who loved me! Near thing with them dastardly persons!
2 Raffles did a cat shower before breakfast. It is raining here! Blessed thing he is. Not be going out today I think.
Oh no, what is a lesson plan!0 -
Briefly , as it's been a long, long day.
Grateful for care and attention we received at hospital today
Grateful for my sandwiches and very tasty soup and afternoon tea of mini muffin
Grateful we just caught a tram and just caught a train. Saved hanging around.
Grateful local shop was still open, a tub of cream and some mushrooms purchased and a very tasty tea of pasta ( fancy pants stuff from hamper) , with creamy, mushroomy, bacony, red oniony and last drop of Parmesan . Cooked in 10 minutes. Inhaled in about 2.
More of the same tomorrow
Have a good day0 -
An absolute pig nuisance of a day, in no way comparable to yours and OH's. mhags, but enough of a blugger here, chez &. All due to others' incompetences, many and varied and their over-reliance on putah+brain disengagement.
Sheer stupidity, but over now, tho' not without wrecking &'s other appointments.
Hence another 'Man Plans, God Laughs' day, but pleasures also:
1. O/n gentle rain on newly potted/re-potted things. This is good. AND STILL NO SLUGSl))))))))))). This is very good.
2. 4 more wineboxes of coffee grounds ex emporium going out shortly.
3. Have been researching lots, reading lots, but still felt need to google and eventually found non-corbyn NEC candidates in Progress List. Voted accordingly online. This is something which can still be safely done in this country.
4. Met F. leaving work at emporium, so was able to give her this sgd copy -
http://www.thecatsofmooncottage.co.uk/cat-books/more-cat-tales-from-moon-cottage-book-two
Bought at £land - no less, no more. Not the 1st time & has found a sgd 1st edn there. Goodness knows how.
5. En route back from town of horse, & slowed for green woodpecker to take its time taking off from roadside hedge, then fly right across, low over front of &obile.

So, bop - our licence-less i-player/aunty beeb times are to end next month.

* Yesterday, I made roast in the slow cooker. Now this has always turned out moist and tender. We were so surprised when it turned out to be tough as an old boot!
I had two large slices left. What to do???? Well, I keep seeing cottage pie posted in menus, or What's for Dinner here on MSE. I thought why not give it a try? I minced the roast up very small, looked online for recipes and made it today. Put in a glug of wine in BoP cause I could. Bottle open in fridge. It was really delicious! I now can make two British dishes...toad in the hole and cottage pie.
* cute video of chicken and DGD (age two)
* baked chocolate chip cookies for OH. (Wasn't sure how the cottage pie would turn out. Needed a fall back plan.)
* cashews on sale. Cashew chicken stir fry coming soon at this address.
* menu plan for the week. I do this sporadically.
* lunch out with OH planned for tomorrow. Probably Mexican food...over abundance of these type restaurants here in New Mexico. But sooo good. Addictive to put it mildly. Obsession to be truthful.
* Grand hounds still here. 5th week. We are taking them to DD2 this weekend unless her GF gets worse in the hospital. Turn for the worse>> back on respirator.
* wonderful children. Mine, all grown now. I remember when the eldest was fourteen and had become a mouthy knowitall. A friend told me "they do grow up to be pleasant responsible people". Responsible I could believe...but pleasant??? She was right.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Theres you go, conversion under way with Mila cooking. BoP has competition!
5 Proper food, well I has bin asked on occassions what are toe nail onions. These are toe nail onions that were added to the left over buzzard from Sunday Roast. Was curried last evening and guess what. Is now brewing on the stove!
Note the tea cosy and proper cocoa in the photo. No Foam drinks shown!
4 Just prepping now for the morrow and the BoP vs Educationalists. Someone will come off worse for wear and I am not talking my end! Eats scarf!
3 Raffles, big lump that has been side snaking with his BoP in recent nites, demolished the window sill. It was around three in the morning. Clumsy oaf!
2 Night, after finally fixing the Treader of BoPsie, and with new dual action high capacity pump, well a normal one, not a fancy puff thing at thrice the price, has her tyres inflated. The last pump was one its last breath! All is well now and teader night it is.

Morning all,
it's been a while.
1 - Rain. Yes, rain. I woke to a fresh smell this morning that reminded me of being in a wet woodland, in a good way. I strangely enjoyed it.
2 - Saw my step-bro and fiance last night and we spent a couple of hours putting a jigsaw together which was actually good fun.
3 - Being valued. I'm amidst moving jobs. My current employer doesn't want me to go and my new employer wants me to start ASAP. I didn't realise until it was pointed out to me what a huge compliment this is that they both want me working for them so badly. I'm naturaly a modest person so this is saying something.
4 - YNAB. By jings I love it.
5 - A full fridge. I was listening to a podcast which was highlighting water shortages in Africa and how us lucky ones have it running out our taps. Made me very grateful to open the fridge/freezer/cupboards to see lots of options compared to what other have.
Have a nice day everyone.0 -
Today was a better day.
Hospital for 5.5 hours. Lovely , friendly nurses make things go easier.
My free lunch today was soup and an egg sandwich , morning treat was a lovely ( though really tiny) piece of chocolate cake...just a mouthful really.
Nice to get back home during daylight hours , took dog a walk, went to local shops for a few bits and pieces.
Made a slow cooker chilli with RTC beef. Was rather nice.
Had a bit of a snooze.
Then had to go up to school for a subject for next year info evening, chatted to those we needed to chat to.
Nice email from friend in response to the nice email I sent to her this morning.
Have a good day0
