    Hi all,

A better day today for me than yesterday.

VJsmum - I was a regular a few years ago on the fly lady thread but life has gone crazy the last few years so not been on there, although I'm still in touch with a few people via Facebook. I was Sunnygirl back then but things haven't been sunny for a while in our house so the name didn't feel right.

D4V - children who bake are indeed a blessing. My DD1 made Bakewell tart at school this week but is quite happy to shut herself in the kitchen at the weekend and make a batch of brownies or flapjacks by herself.

So, as for today, my OS pleasures are:

    1) Meeting up with a friend and having a good catch up.
    2) having dinner with above friend (not very OS but it was good), Thai fish cakes were lovely.
    3) watched hospital program with DD2. Nice half hour chill out with her.
    4) have decided to have a day off work tomorrow which has put me in a good mood all evening. ( I am self employed and with the exception of last week when we went on holiday I have not taken a day off work for me for two years).
    5) neither DD1 or DD2 cried when I went out tonight. This makes them sound like babies when they are actually 13 and 9 but DD1 has anxiety attacks and DD2 separation anxiety due to DH not being well and my dad not being well either. This is quite an achievement and makes my couple of hours out of the house much more enjoyable.

Hope everyone else has had a good evening too x

Old style pleasures for this week:
    1. Birdsong in the garden.
    2. My family - and other animals :)
    3. New to me books - the library is one of my greatest pleasures.
    4. Positive feedback at the dentist about the state of my teeth - SUCH a relief as I dread going.
    5. Eating our own good food in our own lovely house.

I'm counting all of my blessings very hard at the moment after a particularly horrible few days with MrC's positive Parkinson's diagnosis earlier in the week. Not a pleasure, but a relief in an odd way to be able to understand what's been happening so I'm adding it to my list here.

    Good morning all,

Making this the first of, hopefully, many posts of my daily pleasures.

Capella - So sorry to hear that news. My gran had Parkinsons and it was at times a tough battle. Sending you hugs.

1 - No traffic on the way to work. Really puts me in a good mood.
2 - My dogs who wag their tail and seem to happy when I walk in the kitchen each morning
3 - Receiving my daily text from my best friend. He talks nonsense but it's nice nonetheless.
    4 - It being Friday!
5 - Downloaded some new songs last night. I love having music in my life.

    Have a nice day everyone!

Life has just turned upside down again. Why? Why? Why? Will post more when I can but just been left reeling with latest hospital update.

    Searching desperately for pleasures .
    The kindess of others.

The roses are blooming lovely, having a last hurrah.

DD1 made chicken fajitas for tea.

Got my hair coloured and cut. What grey hair? And the understanding and forced jollity and change of subject when my lovely hairdresser asked how OH was ( as she always does)

Sat in cathedral for longer than I normally do, lit a candle and listened to some words.

Finished painting office , it needed 3 coats. I will have had at least one coat on me. Had a declutter, took a bag of stuff to local primary school and then a big bag over to salvos.

Had to go round to physio, had asked for a donation for PTA event and had to go and plead my case! They will donate a sizeable package but I felt like I was being interviewed! Then in the piddly wet rain I traipsed round the top end of town and handed in begging letters to businesses there. Just a bit wet!

Reading my baby books ( when they did first this and first that) , read them to my babies who were all at home today. Had a laugh and the first born child's full of photos, the Middle child bit less and the third child's hastily scribbled notes!

Should have been back at work tomorrow but boss said other cook colleague was happy to work for me. Whilst the money would be handy but some things are more important. Back on Sunday.

As always, my lovely dog. Cuddles, shnuggles and big brown eyes just knowing.

Have a good Friday. Hope it's drier than here :)

Sorry you're both going through tough times with your OH's illnesses Cappella & mhagster. It's so tough trying to cope with your own feelings and that of other family members and children whilst trying to carry on with some sort of life at the same time. Hugs to you both x
  • And don't come round here acting like you have been to the same plaice as BoP!

Welcome newbies, and those with milk bottle gogs. It's a mad house inn here, so sit down, wipe the lippy off your face and grab a glass for tart fuel. I'll get the wobbleades!

5 Many a trip to have a decent slice of cake at the Barn full of Books has been had by the BoP and BoPsie. Lots of old books on all things that certainly get the BoP steamed up. And BoPsie as well. Now I has a bets that a lot round this part of the parish are more like the BoP than they wish they were!

4 Just bin into town and wasted the coupons from the last post of S. Sorry, cannot waste money on your non offers, instead had a free cuppa in w8rs, grabbed the wobbleades off the shelves, cheese and biscuits. Mushrooms going cheap. Then some butchers snorkers for the morning. As you nose, BoP has kitchen disaster this week and miscalculated the golden toasted flakes of corn. I am afraid to say, BoP had to have fresh blackcurrant of jam on hot buttered toast instead again. But no worries.

3 As it gets worse. As you all know, BoP does like to toss off on Friday night. And today the accurately mixed pancake batters has been made early, as usual so it rests naturally. Checked fruit bowl. Another kitchen disaster! No lemon. OMG. BoPsie has already intersuggested that we have fresh concentrated juice of lemon in our BoP spring waters this week. So there, sorted! Now the pancakes can duly be flipped and tossed. They will be served with fresh concentrate of juice of lemon!, sugar, oranges, ice of choc, and cocoa powder dusting. Real good proper food, and good for you as well. Recipe is availbe on request!

2 Night BoP may ed off out with can of red emulsion. More later! Please remember, those chemical factory spreads and emulsions are bad for you. Emulsions belong on walls!

    Some Somerset holiday pleasures,

Wells cathedral in all its glory, loved the Knights clock where one poor wooden knight has had his block knocked off for the last 800 years! The architecture was amazing and the acoustics sounded perfect to my un-trained ear.

Enjoyed the various wells & springs in the grounds of the Bishop's Palace but remembered that it was a place of pilgrimage for many years before that.

    Had the odd cream scone....

Spent an enthralling couple of hours watching two young blue tits being encouraged out of the nesting box by their parents, such little dots and so beautiful..

On the wildlife theme, each morning and evening a young red deer doe would bring its youngster into the field behind the cottage to graze. Gorgeous.

So now home, seeing how much our hedge has grown in the week. Smelling the honeysuckle as you walk through our gate. Oh and the anticipated pleasure of sleeping in own bed tonight.

Mhags, hugs and much love, Tilly and Rosie add their considerable affection to go with Haggis x
