Quick pleasures for today as I want to get to bed to watch A Midsummer Night's Dream!

    1) A lie in - hoorah!

    2) Up to date with washing, and ironing done by bigger son

    3) Roast dinner at lunchtime.

    4) Had a good tidy up.

    5) Pasta bake for tea.

    6) Went to see the hens (3 egg day) and smaller son tempted them on to his knee using a grape then threw the grapes down so they would fly a bit!

    7) Watched Top Gear.

    8) Luckily realised that smaller son has cooking tomorrow.

    Some pleasures for the weekend,

On holiday in Somerset so leisurely Saturday morning breakfast whilst deciding what to do with our day. The farmer muck-spreading in the field next to the cottage sort of determined we would go out all day :rotfl:

A million books in a big barn, row upon row of fiction and reference, was in complete heaven, oh and they had cake...I might move in...

Olives and horseradish cheddar, went down better than the footie result!

Out and about today, came over a hill and there was the best looking castle I had ever seen. Several very enjoyable hours spent looking around Dunster and the village, great fun and Mum handled the stairs admirably.

Blast of sea air at Burnham-on-sea, admired the rowers practicing and signed a huge birthday card for her majesty.

Ice-cream of course, am on holiday after all.

Monday morning here. Last day of little holiday. Slept last night, did not sleep well the night before, I'm allergic to feathers, brought my own pillow as when we stayed at last place I had to use a folded up towel. Imagine my horror when I realised it was a blooming feather quilt as well ( note to self ..email in advance!) so I'm rocking the puffy faced, itchy eyed, wheezy look.

Yesterday there were kangaroos in our front garden. Thrilling

OH and I wento for a drive.
    Son went cycling,

We came back , had soup, then they went out, one in car to then walk and then one on wheels. Came home together in car. I sat on verandah and just drank in the view, the tranquility, the beauty and started a book and took lots of photos.

Had baked potatoes and left over chilli and salad for tea.

    Lovely day :)

Good day yesterday in the end.
    1. DS1 ok after having injection in his back. His girlfriend took him in on her way to work and we went to collect him. He had sedation and spine block(?) He is unable to drive for a couple of days but luckily work is ok with that.

    2. He was alright on the way back to his flat to have a coffee at his friends new coffee shop. The coffee and cake were very good and it was busy which is good for his friend.

    3. A local village had a garden safari which we looked round. Two gardens in particular were stunning. One had made most of spectacular views where as the garden next door had a high beech hedge and you couldn't see the view at all.

    4. Stopped on way home at another village and had a coffee in the church as they are raising funds. Themed for the Queens birthday so lovely red, white and blue flower arrangements. An interesting display of the local history too.

    5. Managed to then weed in the garden followed by glass of wine with DH before we came in.

    I'm home :)

I've been a mother for a whole 21 years....as I said in my blog, a lot of love, lots of laughing and the odd swear word along the way!

The most fabulous welcome from Haggis. He snuggled in with OH as if he would never let him go again.

We had thai takeway for tea and leftovers for tomorrow .

DD1 made a cake, Haggis had a taste before anyone else did.our last dog Poppy once ate a whole cake at DD2's 8th birthday party...we all went through to kitchen to do candles and happy birthday and cake was gone!

It's blooming chilly. But beautiful as its bright .

Have a great day ...I'm looking forward to my own feather free bed tonight :)

  • 1) The smell of the strawberry Swedish 'almost' jam that is currently simmering away on the hob.

    2) Have finally come off the fence and cast my referendum vote.

    3) Loving how refreshed the garden and lawns are after the rain we've had since yesterday, even the few patches of lawn we've had to reseed are looking lush and green.

    4) We have a robin who is feeding fledglings and comes regularly to the garden to find food for them, he/she always checks the house out before coming down on to the lawn and stops to look back before disappearing into next doors garden with his 'loot'.

    5) My spring onion seed has finally germinated and popped up in the garden!!!

    I. Just popping in to say hello to old and new friends and wish everybody well.
    2. Flaming June! But the grass is very green and the water butt is full.
    3. All three bedrooms redecorated, carpeted etc., and came in well under budget, which was very tight to start with.
    4. No clothes/shoes/extras bought for a month. Having moved the wardrobes and chests into the small bedroom, now a dressing room, I've rediscovered many clothes and had fun matching them to others which I'd never have thought of before. Result - several 'new' outfits.
    5. Drove back through the villages after dropping friends at the airport at 4am, watched the most amazing red/orange sunrise, saw muntjac, rabbits, pheasant, foxes, a beautiful, shaggy old dobbin with his head over fence and a barn owl. Only a handful of other vehicles, so enough pleasures to last several days

    Sweet dreams :)

    Sparrer's back :)

Ooh it was ever so noisy back in suburbia this morning and not a kangaroo in sight!

DD1 saw her specialist today so he's happy with her wound and told me well done for looking after it so well.

Dropped her off at uni and OH and I went to a new tapas bar for lunch. He enjoyed it more than I did.

Aldi for grocery shop, got more for my money than I would have done at supermarket, had UK food on special ...choccy hobnobs and jelly babies :)

Nice chat with friend in Sydney, our voicemails have been talking to each other for past couple of weeks, we keep missing each other. All caught up with each other's news now.

Made lasagne for dinner with roast potatoes and just waiting on veggies and we will be good to go!

It was a lovely bright day but blooming chilly

    Have a lovely day
