    Morning, lovely pleasures again all

Thanks for bringing me up to speed re Ampersand, I really should keep up :D

McC - what do you do with the freebies you don't like / need / want? Am i right in thinking you can't get rid?
Mrs LW - love your nature posts, fresh strawberries, yum I will get about 6, if i'm luck this year.
DD - happy hols, congrats to DS :T. Love the low key announcement :D
Villagelife - DS's eventually get chatty??? I am looking forward to it :rotfl:
DforV - chaos defrost???? Love the crane image and, I know lots of people who consider coffee makers to be an essential. me? I like the chance you take with the cafetiere. ;) Also, I can't abide the waste
Kittikins - urgh, reports sound dire things to do. As they are often to read. Gone are the days of teachers being able to be inventive with them. My OH's are best

PE - shows some interest if the ball comes his way
Geography - P would do better if he wasn't so interested in buses
House report - P would be more useful around the house if he wasn't so preoccupied by his current obsessions :rotfl: (some things never change)
Frith - date and walnut for the hens??? Send it to meeee Also suffering with rhinitis and other hafevery things. i only strated suffering a couple of years ago - and I'm not happy...:(
Mhags - poor you having to deal with all this medical stuff. I have a very dramatic DD too, I feel your pain . LOL at the dog and the sock..:rotfl:
BoP - lovely church pic. I was reading the other day that John Harvey Kellogg invented cornflakes to ... erm..... let's say lower the libido.. :p
Skint - blimey, I thought our grass needed cutting but was nowhere near that height.
pinky - 9 hours sleep doesn't happen for me at this time of year. I love the longer days, but do get woken early. Good luck to DD. My DS has his final AS today.
Capella - awww to the new donkey.

    Pleasures since Friday

    1. Felt very unwell on saturday - not sure if hayfever or something i ate. Sinuses awful, felt sick etc etc. had to take to my bed, which is not like me. Pleasures? i guess that there was nothing urgent i had to do and i did indulge in a soak in the bath later on.
    2. Better on Sunday and did gardening. It is getting there but still a work in progress. Went shopping for new patio furniture and decided that everything in the shops is too flimsy, compared to our once solid but more than 10 years old stuff. OH sat on one deck chair and broke it! and :rotfl: Decided to look for similar solid stuff to that which we currently have. Trouble is, we bought it from a temporary display in our local shopping centre, so have to wait until we something like it again.
    3. Had a barbecue and a good burn up in the brazier in the evening. Wobbleades consumed.
    4. DS had an AS level which was "OK, but i ran out of time". We went shopping in the afternoon. A once or twice yearly event that is a very expensive hour or so, but he is now kitted out for a while.
5 while in shopping centre i upgraded my phone. :T S'lovely
    6. And.... Da dah... A man was in the shopping centre selling patio furniture. :T So it was ordered and is being delivered on Sunday. What a coinkydink. All in all though, an extremely expensive shopping trip
    7. My french beans are growing
    8. My transplanted rose isn't going to make it, I fear. but the other 10 or so plants we moved look good.
    9. Took DS out in our little car for his first driving practice. He has had about 6 or 7 lessons and has taken to it well. I am not sure me gripping the seats for grim death would actually help in an accident though :rotfl:
    10. Walking in London yesterday. What a lovely day for it - Regents park was stunning.
    11. met a former colleague for coffee - lovely to see her and to have confirmation that i did the right thing in leaving.
    12. Organising our S Africa holiday. We have left it a bit late but it is coming together now. One thing was fully booked so we are detouring to Swaziland instead. Exciting :j
    13. Coming back on the train yesterday, there was a huge kerfuffle with people getting on at the last minute in Euston. I thought it was a team GB team for the Olympics (there were holdalls). it was only when the train pulled into Birmingham and the party stood up to get out that i recognised David Cameron  I am not a fan, but was very good and ignored him. Had a bit of a chat and a laugh with the security guy about how unobservant I am - he said "that's the way we like it". :p
    Ooh I can't stop on 13....

    14. My Glastonbury tickets have been dispatched and a favourite band just been announced (Travis)
    15. Warmth and sunshine....

    have a great day all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

You are partially right, I can't get rid of stuff directly supplied by Amazon for 6 months after arrival (technically), but anything supplied by sellers directly has no such strings. I am very careful about what I ask for as a result, though. I only take about 20% of what I'm offered, some weeks much less.
A lot of it sits in the corner of the dining room in a big box, awaiting new homes.
Much of it goes for raffle prizes for our live music club and charities supported by the lady who runs the music club raffle.

Re your 14. I love Travis too. I saw Fran H., lead singer on the TV the other day, his grey beard was a small shock. :D
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

VJsmum - I really smiled at your comment about Mr. Cameron's security guards reply :)

    Today's pleasures:
    1. A 'dead' standard rosemary bush, rescued from the 10p reductions at M******ns is flushed with new growth after being repotted and watered. It would have cost £10 originally k:eek: - Such a loss for the shop!
    2. I bought some cut rosemary sprigs in the supermarket last year and didn't use all of them for cooking. I stuck the unused sprigs in a tub outside our gate at the back of the house and have just noticed that four of them have taken :) Four lovely, sturdy, free Rosemary bushes.
    3. A lovely cup of really hot spicy lemon and ginger tea to help to ease my sore throat.
    4. We have our best ever harvest of cauliflour so nice the allotment. Super large heads and white curds. My favourite veg, and not all ready at the same time which is a double bonus.
    5. Walked the dog along the canal this morning and watched several barges float by, all beautifully painted and decorated with flowers and plants on their rooves.
  • 1) Memories of our dear old Docky dog, it's a year today since he left us and it's been lovely thinking back to all his little doggy jokes and habits, sad he's gone but such lovely memories.

    2) The scent of acacia flowers, we're warm enough here to have trees all over the village and they're in full and fragrant bloom at the moment, it's so exotic to have perfume like that wafting round an English village, some of the yuccas which are tree sized are blooming too and they are very fragrant.

    3) Walking past a newly creosoted fence, oh I do like the smell of creosote.

    4) He Who Knows has taken advantage of this lovely weather and had himself a days fishing, I love how happy that makes him.

    5) Cottage gardens at their best, some in older houses and long established and some embryonic ones in the new builds and everything between, all full of colour and so quintisentialy summer!

Tis very early Friday morning, have woken up super early as usual .

    Thursday was fairly busy :

Quick potter before heading towards work
Via a few of our local businesses to ask for donations for upcoming trivia night: my salon will offer a voucher as will florist, supermarket where DD works maybe a bottle of wine ( probably the busiest business in our wee town but hey! ) and the lovely pharmacist at the pharmacy we use ( there are 3) will do me a hamper. Shall go round more this afternoon. I was really touched with their kindness as these are all independent retailers.

Had a text from DD1 .....the sock eater had been at it again....this time my Stars and Stripes sock ....nooooooooo

Work was fine apart from towards the end of shift. I was only on from 11-2 as boss had an appointment. This women came in , ordered a burger, ate all of said burger, went to pay for said burger and then told boss it was the worst thing she'd ever eaten , was so dreadful, blah , blah, blah! Then she left. So then 5 minutes later she came back, empty cafe, hi says I , can I see the menu again please asks she. So then she gets her phone out and takes a photo, I realised she was using a food review site. Went and said to boss...who was cleaning the loo! She got ready to leave, I said, have a lovely afternoon, then she started what can only be described as the most ridiculous diatribe I've ever heard. It was awful , so tasteless, no seasoning, so awful, just awful , worst thing she'd ever had, ever! I said (nicely) she could have said at time , we could have given her something else ( rolled...actually rolled her eyes in disgust at the thought of eating something else) , we could have offered her a refund ....I don't want a refund, we will happily offer you a refund , you've not been happy...okay I will have a refund.....continuing to repeat how awful it was for her...this went on for several minutes. I had said sorry she didn't enjoy it but most people did ( and they do!) she said they obviously have no taste buds ! She is still ranting: " I am so upset, I am actually angry " ...really , love? We hadn't noticed. I at this point leave the situation and go into kitchen, empty dishwasher, bring dishes back through to put away and she is still going on.
She has her refund, she's certainly had her 5 ( more like 10 ) minutes and still repeating the same stuff. She has not ( yet) left a review on social media. However, at least if she does we will be prepared for such a lambasting! Why would you eat the whole thing if it was so awful? Why would you not say at the time? Why would you have a tantrum in a cafe afterwards? We were exhausted by her ! We are open to constructive criticism but this was just awful! Hoping she was nicer to her family when she went home :)

Home then back out with girls to get DD2's dress ....only its had to go back to get straps added as they must have white straps on their dresses ( dresses are all white like blooming wedding dresses). They have to wear elbow high white gloves, we've borrowed a pair .... Lady in shop trying to up sell a new pair.....oh you've got the shiny kind ...the matte finish are better in photos....sorry love we will take our chances! Bodice of her dress is shiny ...such a fuss and palaver! Anyway , the right amount has been whacked off bottom of dress, she will look lovely , I will be a proud dressed best for less mama on the day but seriously what a fuss! 2 weeks , 2 days to go ...countdown is on until it's over :)

Home and finally sat down ...briefly ...then made macaroni for tea.

Then snoooooozed all the way through Masterchef :(

Today I'm working 9-2 ( said I must go at 2 .... I don't really have a anything to rush off for just don't want to have to start doing the closing shift work! ) it was my day off but colleague has a funeral. Having a wee weekend away for son's 21st so need to get packed and organised for that. Had a lovely email from cottage , where we are going to , owner which was nice and welcoming .

    Have a lovely evening :)

    Quick pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Work OK.

    3) Went to Sainsburys after work for shopping and tea.

    4) A 3 egg day for the hens. Smaller son and I sat side by side on 2 deck chairs and 2 hens decided to fly up and sit on our knees at the same time!

    5) Had a bit of a tidy, washing is on the line, bread in bread maker.

    6) Played the piano.

    7) Watched DIY SOS. Thought it strange that everyone had accents I couldn't place - it was Shropshire!

    8) Just printed off New Rd cricket tickets for my brother and turns out (reading after printing) that it is not this Saturday after all, but the 18th. Slightly problematic.

    9) My deed poll name change thing came back from the Land Registry so I will take this as a good sign that some of their work is going well. I wonder why they don't just send everything in the same envelope?

    10) Wore my new (Asda) trousers that I shall wear tomorrow. I like to get used to new clothes before wearing them in public. Smaller son declared them "bobbydazzlers".

    11) About to catch up on Holby City which I hear is very upsetting indeed...
  • Oooops. Socks on, duvet off.

Jenny is being tested this morning. More later!
