Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) An almost passable day at work with one young charge saving me some of his chocolates!!
3) Popped to nearest town for eczema cream for smaller son then birthday presents for dad (71 tomorrow).
4) Went swimming with sons and my brother.
5) Invitation to a New Years Eve bonfire party held by second mum and dad. Very excited about it!

7) Got a large individual mince pie and jam tart left for sons' school dinners tomorrow plus some of today's pasta bake cooked separately for me. Also got a loaf in the bread maker (had run out of bread!) but hadn't quite got enough bread flour so we'll see what it is like with 100g of self raising added!0 -
1) Brilliant day at work, just started back to my old company after 7 months of changing to a job I hated and made me ill. Back to original branch where I was for 9 years, back home I feel
2) lovely catch up with a friend after work and he paid for cocktails as a belated birthday present.
3) watched the xmas lights turn on in city centre, was a real ocassion this time, council really made an effort, light shows and street performers
4) nice walk home after in the night chill and my hair stood up on my neck as I watched an Emirates A380 come over after it took off from Manchester and was dead low (amazes me how they get off the ground)
5) curl up on sofa with cuddles from pusscatCC limits £26000
Long term CC debt £0
Total low rate loan debt £3000
Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.0 -
Good evening , 'Tis absolutely pouring with rain, absolutely lashing!
We had a massive thunderstorm at 2.15 am , woke me up and I struggled to get back to sleep and then struggled to wake up when the alarm went off. The view from the loo was fabulous , the sky was all out up with lightning.
Work was work. Day 1 /4 done .DD2 was working with me over lunch as she had day of school.
Came home with Wagyu beef burgers , which i turned into meatballs and we had a very tasty tea. Another family portion in the freezer.
Also brought home sample cakes that had been handed in. Oops! I have nit had sugar in 20 days...my willpower gave way and I had 2 very small pieces of brownies.
My son had yet another near miss with an idiot driver whilst cycling, he was livid when he get in, I've never heard him swear until today! My son is the mildest, calmest person I know so to see him so upset and angry was very odd.....the pleasure..he's fine ...just upset. He cycles everywhere and has had so many idiots cut him up and almost knock him off.
I've just opened my delivery from Cath K, fabulous! But it's going away for another 5 weeks! The packaging is so pretty!
Do have a good Friday0 -
1. am home snug and warm due to virus-y thing - have lost me voice (not necessarily a bad thing according to some people !)
no more work till Tuesday :j
2. staying warm in bed or under a furry throw in the living room - heating still off during the day - have relented and put on timer for 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the evening to dry the towels in the bathroom. This may well change if the temperature drops as low as they forecast and we get snow this weekend !
3. nice hm chicken and peppers with black bean sauce for tea last night
4. DS has completed his first week of training in new job and seems to be enjoying it
5. have done online banking and shuffled some money around so this Cinderella can go to the ball next weekend before payday ! (well a night out with the "girls" anyway)

VJsmum - hurrah! PhD here you come!
mhagster - hurrah on days off & rehab running well depsite Dr.Doom, and sorry neighbour has been 'gathered' (original lemon tree gent?) http://www.heathrow.com/transport-and-directions/underground claims tube cheapest & certainly makes life simpler for next connection & getting student railcard on the day straightforward at the right station http://www.16-25railcard.co.uk/using-your-railcard/are-you-eligible/ then 1/3 off trainfare so pick train time intelligently, but & bang on with MS train/bus link!
Mrs LW - of course Christmas includes games - how else do you decide who gets the last chocolates?
laineyT - all best with equine hospital & yes, clean sheets are a real OS pleasure.
Skint yet Again - dead right to focus on a bit of glass slipper time rather than peer into the murky future for too long.
OS Pleasures recently
The wind is blowing down the river & where the willow has leaves, their silver undersides are rippling. Again, where's Van Gogh when you want him?!
Not a pleasure to observe a minutes silence for Paris, but a wry irony that in Manchester it was finished by the sound of a single cannon shot.
"He's not malicious, just ineffective. Wet." - Ye gods someone has fumbled badly to get that combined assassination & sticky plaster...
Happy mutterings with "it's Pie Weather..." as a team order is assembled.
The big building site has 3 machines beeping - interesting chords & rhythms!
I've a new game. I may step on cracks & joins in the pavement - but not the wet leaves!
The smell of bacon...
Complimented on Use of Teapot at work - colleague then (probably rightly) appalled that I put milk in the pot!
I don't know what's in Waitrose coffee but my colleague is now cheerfully ready for embedding, embracing & enhancing his performance - at which point I frantically gestured for him to shut to before I sprayed my mouthful of coffee everywhere. We share a cheerfully filthy sense of humour...
Just been recruited to the Dropbox trial (it may become an Official bit of kit) & am roundly thankful as if I can get data without having to drag self & laptop through the current charming weather? (Sleet blown sideways, just now) Hurrah!
Great bug hugs to all who need them, weather proof headgear & footwear likewise & as the weather comes down, think of the spring bulbs, safe & warm & waiting for better times to brighten our days...0 -
Just being annoyed with stupid hurrchhhrs editor, forcing ludicrous, tiresome, lose-another-listener story lines ......
1.......in view of all that is current in everyone's world consciousness, let alone &'s atm, [Mali right now]. pleasures are what? Uni friend and I have just agreed on Monday for last day use-up of MrT Cafrouge vouchers. £60 to cochon-out on - her septembre anniversaire, delayed by us to about now, as usual. Sent a letter+France pics from my solidarity days Sun/Mon/Tues which she commented on, was just opening as & rang.
Having rung her from Paris on Charlie Hebdo day, this was more of frighteningly-not-same, but yet....

and Trafalgar Square and the Embassy.
Pasteur Demaison immediately commented on &'sand we spoke at length.
2. &'s microfibre towel found!!! Hooray, another good reason to hit smoke, pick up next week.
3. Toulon v Wasps this Sunday. Kia kaha! will mix with pilou pilou, resoundingly.
Same good thing happened before Sat's Club match, b4 our 'International' - Guernsey. Foul day, driving rain and wind, but the 1 minute's silence was perfectly observed by every single person, inc. all young. La Marseilliaise was then played, sung by some, & certainly, attempted by all. Too restless after, so>Alma and similar atmosphere. It showed in Toulouse's play and dreadful scoreline[ 'leurs têtes ailleurs'] Plenty of French to be with.
4. Vicar and & had both heard/seen Antoine Leiris
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-34862437
5. Stormy meeting expected tonight, Frith[thanks for 'wrkg well', better than anything here. That's for sure. Several hours phone cut-offs and outages ongoing.]
Dread thought of heading anywhere near heart of albion, always cauchemar drives for & anywhere over there. Match at ricoh arena, dimanche 1715h - best set off tonight, after not unlikely, icy, principled storm-out in bilingual francophile, terroir-de-l'âme-d'&-bleeding-fury!

Couldn't p.m you, Ampersand, it says your mailbox is full. Took the records down to parents and the man is still alive and well (younger than parents). He used to be our local man from the Pru and his wife worked with my mum!
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Work wasn't too bad, especially computer programming this morning.
3) Had to buy a dinner today (left mine in the fridge at home) and was chatting to the dinner lady when we realised we were in the same class at school!
4) Sons had an OK day at school.
5) Took dad's birthday presents.
6) Sons went roleplaying with my brother and brother in law.0 -
1. Dads chicken created the first pasta emergency meal yesterday, when 2 people we’ve not seen for months announced they are coming over.:o
2. It was nice to catch up till the wee hours.:p
3. I went for my first B12 injection today, it was a little ouchy but that said I think they will help.
4. We ran a few errands and ended up in the next town over as we couldn’t get what we needed locally. We stopped into to get a new flip key cut for my car and this chap who I swear had seen it all and done it all at least over a few century’s said its far to worn but these are the numbers which he just knew, programmed it into a laser and did it then and there. And it works perfectly.:)
5. We ended up loaded up with some gorgeous dark brown velvet boot cut trousers for 2.50 and a long thick fabric off cut that will be sewn to make ferret bedding for the rescue for £3.50. Some cheap shop things for DD and a few naughty chocolate bits from the pound shop.
6. I’ve just cleaned the fridge, put the oven shelving and grill through the dishwasher then mopped the floor while DH was snoozing.:rotfl:0 -
yesterday was very wet
1) had to laugh. jeans had shrunk dramatically n wash and couldnt get them on. then realised was trying to get dd2's size 8 jeans on lol
2) xoh kindly gave me and mum lift to station (i was going to walk - it's about 40 mins nice stretch of the legs, but didnt want to spend train journey drying out jeans!)
3) mum had forgotten to reserve seats so decded to go to waverley (where manchester train starts) rather than change at haymarket (2nd stop) and got 2 table seats in only carriage with nonreserved seats
4) enjoyed my packed pasta salad though e did splash out on a cuppa
5) met 2 friends in lovely cafe istanbul at 6:30 and had early bird. lishMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
