Pleasures for today (Thursday already).
1) Sitting in the car park (at 8.40am) of a small rural comprehensive reading MHag's post. :-)
2) Work was not too bad. Hampered by headache and sore throat all week.
3) Went up to the village I'd quite like to live in (right next to Clee Hills) and had a look round the church where they have a kettle and supplies set up so you can move yourself a hot drink!
4) Had a Chinese take away for tea.
5) Have finally got round to doing some ironing so I will be able to wear some different tops to work.
6) Bigger son has been getting on with some homework. We had a "Welcome to year 10" night last night at school.
7) Bigger son's school did the siblings photos today. (Single ones done last week). So he went to get MrN's son5 and they had a photo done together. They were nearly siblings for a while. It's a bit strange but I've put it on my fridge.0 -
Good morning from Friday and thank you so much ,again, for all your kind words today/ my yesterday!
There were tears of disbelief from me at the clinic. We had waited for 2 1/4 hours to be seen, fearing the worst, we knew we had the last appointment for the day and we know it often over runs and we appreciate that not everyone is being given standard medical advice and will be getting bad news and that can take time but even still....2 1/4 hours!
Anyway we went in and our usual doc passed on the good news and said that even the medical team ( which is large ) could not believe the results that came back. Because of his previous 2 major, major surgeries so much of his original anatomy is not there / moved so something showed up as majorly abnormal on the MRI scan . The MRI scan was to be used as a baseline and I think we all thought , docs included , that it would come back clear. There were a few , what looked like new tumours but on further examination they are not. Thank goodness!
I have been to all sorts of horrible places in my head, my already broken and just starting to heal heart was re broken . When he was diagnosed in April, one senior doctor said if they couldn't do surgery then he would only have 6 months to live.....which is round about now-ish. This absolutely distressed me at the time, we were then left in a room in our own for half an hour until a doctor came bounding in saying that surgery was all booked for 12th May. Even though he did have surgery this has stayed in my head and I just felt I had to get October out of the way and then stop holding my breath and start living my life again , instead of just getting through a day at a time. So this worry of past 10 days has been extra horrifying for me.
The relief that I don't have to tell my children is immense, this was also so distressing for me past 10 days as I could not bear to tell them. I'd to keep saying to colleagues ( who were there when I got first phone call from OH ) not to say anything to girls at work ( both daughters work at cafe) . DD1 was going through her travel itinerary for Europe with her friend when we were heading out for a full body scan last week. ....all I could think of was having to break her heart by telling her. My DD2 seems to be in a good head space at the moment and I just knew that news like this would bring her at times fragile world crashing down around her. My big boy would just quietly have taken in the news and dealt with it in his quiet way. So all that was going on in my head too, how to protect my children.
I'd the uncertainty of my future, knowing I wouldn't financially be able to stay in Australia . OH is main wage earner and all this was going through my head. Night and day , day and night.
So the relief yesterday was quite overwhelming .....I just sat snivelling when they told us that everything's okay. So it is okay Mhags to start breathing again, maybe to start planning ( dare I! ) again , to look forward again. When we were at the almost empty beach on Wednesday with bad dog I felt so sad to be in such a beautiful place and think I would have to leave here in the near future. This is why coming here and writing down the good things is so important to me. It affirms that there are pleasant things simple things to be enjoyed and cherished.
Right. Small essay written ...it is time to get ready for work. Sighs.....back to work, next 4 days ...I can do this!
Thank you, again, one and all, I don't think you realise the gift of kindness you give when you say a a few kind words on here.....friends who we just haven't met!0 -

Mhags - delighted for you and your family. Such great news.
1. DS2 has decided that he is going back to uni this year and not have a year out. He has been busy trying to find accommodation and sorting out student finance etc. He is happy to go up by himself on the train carrying what he needs until we can drive up to him. He has been very mature about the situation.
2. Went to watch New Zealand v Namibia. Enjoyed the match as the atmosphere was great and neutrals were supporting Namibia. I liked the stadium at the Olympic park.
3. The house is fairly tidy considering that both DS2 are getting ready to move out.
4. Speaking with my sister.
5. A day off work so not going back until Monday.0 -
