    Pleasures for yesterday and today:

    Saturday

    1) Bit of a lie in.

    2) Bigger son to the Game Fair all day (Weston Park) with my parents and brother. Came back with many gadgets. He liked the cookery demonstrations the most.

    3) Smaller son and I went to local motor racing for breakfast and to watch the cars process through.

    4) On to Birmingham on the train. Annoyingly didn't think to look at the new New St but got off at Snow Hill! Son wanted to look round the Bull Ring so we did. Had a go on the piano outside Selfridges.

    5) Had a chat with a man juggling fire; we had watched him for quite a while.

    6) Noodles from the noodle bar.

    7) Casualty on TV.

    Today

    1) Not quite such a lie in.

    2) Had to be at Throckmorton Airfield for 9 (in the fog) and sons had their second driving lesson. Smaller son gave me a cheery wave as he drove by!

    3) Croome NT for a very quick look around.

    4) Smaller son went to the local motor racing again with my parents and brother.

    5) Bigger son and I went to the allotment (at last!) and did some digging and brought back a carrier bag of potatoes.

    6) Found a few new geocaches.

Besides all that, all been a bit under the weather! So lots of sitting down in the warm and some cornflake cakes tonight to keep us going. :-)
  • Frith - feeling a bit under the weather here too - hot and cold/shivery and sneezy

    VJsmum - love the sideboard

    Pleasures for the weekend

    1. sunny days so got loads of washing done - expecting downpour for most of rest of week according to the countryfile forecast

    2. felt rough and shivery but had a warm bath and then went to a surprise party on Saturday night for a friend I have known for 20 years and had a really good night - she was totally unaware and thought she was going to another friends party ! The look on her face was priceless !

    3. managed to find a reduced bottle of bubbly to give her as it was her 50th .......... £10 off so was a reasonable £24. Don't know what it tastes like tho, not exactly a connoisseur myself but I had heard of Moet so that's what she got ;)

    4. decided to drive to the party as taxi's are a nightmare on a Saturday night in the city and saved some money

    5. driving meant I wasn't drinking so I bought 2 diet cokes at £1.30 each and had another bought for me - cheap night and didn't miss the booze

    Hugs to all x

Ooooh! I do believe I'm on my days off again! Just in from a busy enough day at work but very glad it's over until Friday.

I had the most lovely day off yesterday. I've worked so many weekends and yesterday was just perfect, sunny with a breeze.

Up early , body clock didn't know it was a day off obviously! Washed and washed and ironed and washed some more. Had 5 loads out on the line which dried so quickly .

Washed the garden table and chairs and brought the parasol out from its winter hibernation. A posy of camellias, a trio of candles and we are good to go!

Popped out for a bit with OH, had a mooch through the papers and some toast.

Home and cut the grass. Our grass doesn't really grow come summer as its too hot. So it's main growth time is over winter.

Had a lovely dinner of roast chicken, roast carrots and parsnips, sugarsnap peas, broccoli and cauliflower and mashed potatoes. Was stuffed.

    Have a good day :)
  • Oh look at the thyme, on the grilled tomato! Duvet, curtains are drawn. :heartpuls to Mhags. Nest week. Of course if you are reading this at work.

  • 1. A completely surprise flying visit from my beautiful niece and her lovely husband on Saturday. They were attending a function 20 miles down the road, and had time to kill so sought me out.
My niece had never seen this house - which was a tip, typical - but we had a wonderful 90 minutes chat around the table. I was so happy.

    2. They took a load of toys, electrical and household bits and pieces with them - all stuff sent for review, or items that have been replaced with review items that were virtually new. Decluttered!

    3. Angrove visit yesterday, and I fell in love with my Boo's little sister, Queenie, (born April 21st, HM's birthday). The sweetest little foal but built to sprint, unlike her sister, who is built to jump. Boo is huge now, and I mean huge. She will quite possibly be the biggest filly/ mare ever to race, if she makes the grade.
They have the same parents, but as I said to the breeders, I look nothing like my sister...

    4. More decluttering, of pet bits to the Angrove dog, Charlie and of toddler toys for the grandson of one of the co-owners.

    5. Good work call tonight. Feeling more reassured.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
  • Been very busy recently and not got round to posting.
    1. Had a great holiday. It was relaxing and we came home with money. We spent time sunbathing as I love it and sightseeing for DH.

    2. Garden is looking good at the moment if you look at the right bit!! Sunflowers have produced a fantastic display and some are in a vase so I can admire them more often.

    3. Vegetables have produced well and loads of runner beans have been frozen and eaten loads of courgettes.

    4. Enjoying the rugby world cup.Seen France v Italy.and have tickets for Thursday match with New Zealand. Both DS have been to fan zones and said atmosphere was great.

    5. Met up with friends who we hadn't seen for a while and enjoyed it.

    6. My back is still feeling good with just normal background pain and not intense pain of past couple of years and managing to garden for far longer periods without a rest.

Just about to watch Downton all cosied up in the sofa with DD1.

Day number one off, reasonable sleep and not awake at silly o'clock which was nice.

Pottered around then took DD2 to physio , she's on 2 weeks holidays from school , had a free consultation / chat with podiatrist ! ( in the same place)

Then we went to mall at next town, oh lordy....school holidays! So busy, so noisy! I was just going for salmon.....DD2 however.....could she borrow money ( against her wages tomorrow ) to buy clothes! Hmmmm....I suppose so! I detest clothes shopping with her..she loves clothes shopping!

    Home and mini snoozette.

We've had a day of heavy showers but managed somehow to get 2 sets of bedding dry in between the downpours and the hailstorm!

Took a pile of stuff over to Salvos. I have so much stuff and not in a hoarder -ish way but we live in a big house here with lots of storage that I seem to have been filling over past few years. I would perhaps have donated more if my hoarder tendency DD1 wasn't at my side.....oh you can't give that away...oh no, not that. So more to be done when she's not looking over my shoulder!

In a state of limbo this week, as we are waiting on results which we should get on Thursday , we can't do anything until we know what's happening....need to try and keep busy until then.

Just bathrooms to clean and my bed to remake but I got the handily sized 6foot tall son to help me change my quilt cover before he went to uni!
Cooking salmon for dinner for those who like fish ( not I)

    Have a good day :)
