Brrrrrr! We have no heating! Engineer coming out tomorrow morning at 8am , so until then brrrrrr!
Today was a hospital day, out at 6.40am so we got there and parked in plenty time, traffic is horrific at that time of day ( traffic in city is horrific most of the day but especially so in the morning! ) . I was so overwhelmed emotionally today , just cried and cried ! It was the last session of intensive rehab programme and my husband has been through so much and improved more than we had initially thought possible. I am so in awe at what he's been through, but in many ways I ache for what he has had to endure. anyway I've asked for counselling/ someone to talk my thoughts and feelings through with.
Home after DD1 had called us when we are hospital to say she could smell gas! At that point we couldn't.
Then we went out for some lunch and grocery shopping....literally down to one egg and a cup of milk !
Home ...after OH got a frantic text from DD1, who was now back in from work....where are you? She'd came home to find an unfinished can of diet coke and my phone ( which I'd left behind when we went out ) on the dining table and thought I'd died a lonely carbon monoxide poisoned death....no love, I was out having some nice chicken scallopini!
Lots of daffodils, cherry blossom , magnolia and buds on the trees...even though it was chilly and rainy! Hoping spring is around that corner.
Did an ironing whilst watching Holby.
Transplanted some of my seedlings into bigger tubs. Does anyone else get excited as their seedlings grow?
Candles on and one tiny electric heater between 5 in a big draughty open plan house! Brrrr! Got my gas bill yesterday $870.00 yikes! Because OH has been ill and really feels the cold and it has been cold we've used a lot more than usual .....I realise I shall just never , ever be rich! Always something/ someone to take my money!
& your baptism comments reminded me off when I took a naughty 1.5 year old and 3 year to church on my own. OH had the car and was away hiking for the day, I'd walked the 3 miles to town and they were just acting up. I was getting very dirty looks from one woman and her mother ( she had 2 kids similar ages) , it was an informal summer service , held an hour before the main service. I got upset ( sounds like I'm still doing that!) and tried to leave...the doors were locked and I had to be let out! I was very upset and had to walk home ( all uphill with a double buggy) and sobbed and sobbed.
The next day the minister came to visit me and apologised and said no one should ever feel that way in our church. I have 2 friends who are ministers wives and they told their husbands who both included it in future sermons.
We should all be tolerant and encouraging of children as they are the future congregations. However , 17 years have passed since they were that age! They now eat more and are expensive to educate!
Do have a lovely Wednesday.....I shall have my first full day off to myself tomorrow ...everyone shall be out and about! Looking forward to it! What's a woman to do?0 -
'& Really. We have no need for tins. We have sheds. Big sheds!'
Okeydokey bop - hook baited, & bites.
#
Difference is Sheds durn't be for 'other pointless stuff I must keep'.
Sheds is for 'Vitals, Or Might Very Well Be', only. & knows. & has 2, plus loft, plus secret storage barn.
Point the 2nd: Baking sufficient shortbread men to fill Shed would
[a] take more time than SpookyMens entire tour.
[a] require trips to French farm for more special butter...hmm, that's an idea &.
Tour date reminders yet again - [&, give it a rest]
http://www.spookymen.com/gigs.php
1. Set off v.early, wise during combining all over these Fenny parts. Big Dust hazards and BIG WIDE Slows....many. Plus ferry-bound rural rat runs. Over 2 hrs on[should have been well under 1], couldn't stop ideally, so pulled up down road round corner. Tap on passenger window and there he was....young friend with a pal. Beaming. Looking marvellously outdoors-y well and well-groomed. They'd been looking out, saw me pass caught in traffic stream and raced out to catch up. Absolutely brilliant time begins.
2. Catch-up during double-back drive to venue. More big wide combines and go-slows for 17 miles of that, but plenty of time meant Panique Pas! All good. &'s guest continues to turn lightly supervised Life around. In Rugby[hooker] and round ball teams now+3 training nights per wk. Foodbank collection/sorting is one 16hr day wkly, but usually takes longer. Upcycling furniture with orders and sales via Church, mentored by retired PROPER joiners/carpenters etc is being done with enthusiasm and skilled atd. Loads more. Drama group too - sold out 3nts of small local vox pop. piece re: job-seeking, new start, hanging in there, staying straight. dvd to follow. & just delighted to hear and see it all - evident and true.
3. We ate really well outside at CafÉ Rouge[Mr T vouchers:-)], despite and enjoying some light rain drops. Walked unhurriedly to venue. Guest > box office, discussion, collecting tickets. Watched his stature grow:-), lovely to see. People-watched in foyer, then up to seats.
4. Supporting act Kirsty Bromley -
'"Kirsty Bromley is a singer of songs of social justice, traditional songs and songs from the heart. Her voice is effortless yet stirring, at times ethereal but always earthy and with strong roots. Musical and beguiling." - understatement. She walked on, barefoot, red dress and just began to sing. Guest and I exchanged looks. She gave us goosebumps. Just remarkable and unaffected and lovely - and strong.
5. Stephen takes the stage, with the spookies.....pure rapture and laughter and participation and sharing and thundering applause, then interval and back for more. Knew it would happen. Guest and & feel same - 40 years' difference is rien where spooky groupieness is concerned. So, t-shirt and 2 CDS for guest post-performance and Stephen speaking with guest at length, learning his past, genuinely delighted and encouraging for his future. Pics taken. Loads more spookymen chatting, all so brilliant for guest, and for &:-)))
You have the flavour. Again, we have Life, all of it.
&squat regained 0200h, light rain continues, so more combine slows. They must get the wheat in - consistent, if rien d'autre.
Yes, a v.v.v.v.g. time.

vjm - isihac gave me idea....you in ice-cream town...mysterious postcards from Mrs Trellis [minor career change: replace that dropped module, keep crayons sharp]
pk - wear that dress! Lovely post. You're doing darned well with altered mindset re:work.
judi - tough luck for DS. Is it his pen hand?
'An amazing job you are doing & in caring for your person' - no, not so and am in no way noble. Vicar is. Those paramadics are. Wonderful Dr S is. I was using this Thread for some sort of nebulous release, sounding off frustration when problem and solution are clear, can marry, but not be enforced. This is in no way praiseworthy, just the opposite. Person's children no longer come to her. Why should they? They must save their own lives and I approve.
It's being aware that there are hidden thousands like these, one by one, who will become less hidden, as they did during thatcher times.
You are remarkable, with your daily work along parallel lines.

Some fantastic, thoughtful and very moving posts, thank you. We had an amazing night at the live music club. Our MC did wonderfully well to get everyone on stage. Singers and players from all over the region. I was able to post a few videos as we were going along which left a bit of room to squeeze more in on the phone.
I have my free steam mop arriving today, hope it arrives soon so that I can go cycling.
Better do some work, proper pleasures list later.,Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
:grouphug:Dear mhags - jumpetty-jump goes &utah, on/off/on...3 shades of grey screen alternating[at least not the Blue Screen of Mordor....tempting Fate are we &?]veiled pages, nonsense msgs...
Anyway, must just come back with big group :grouphug:hugs for your post.
Let's have a couple more -:A, that one's right. :T, and that.
You are all doing so, so well. Being wise and now confident enough of OH's progress to recognise its all-family-round toll on you is wonderful.
Feeling you can now rebalance by seeking help to recover your own self is excellent.
Every blessing from me.

1) Getting to the end of a rather large batch of donated apples (3 more gallons of juice) even if a neighbour did turn up just as I'd finished washing all the equipment with yet another bucket full, so I did those too!
2) A trip to the tip, He Who Knows idea of a treat for me, and I love to see it working, the guys who run it are superb and recycle every single thing that can be, use their courtesy and charm to rescue things folks are about to dump and even resell the perfectly good items that are discarded, magic!
3) Only one courgette from the allotment today!
4) 2 and a half more pounds of blackberries picked from the garden and another pound of raspberries from the allotment in the freezer again today.
5) All my jobs are done except for processing and freezing the runner beans I picked after lunch and I can sit for a while and read my book this afternoon, that's best of all!!!0 -
Ampersand, I won't change my error ... It has arrived, or rather 6 boxes have, it's like Christmas in the hallway. Some are items I accepted for review ages ago.
1. The live music club last night. Those of you here who are my FB friends and like good music may enjoy some of the videos posted.
2. I had a lovely chat with my dear friend whom I gave the old steam mop to (which was near brand new). He was pleased for Karma delivering the replacement for me.
His newest rescue cat has settled in very well and is enjoying life, as well he should, in what equates to a feline paradise.
3. Got my cycle on the trike in lovely sunshine. The jeans I was wearing are a bit tight for cycling in, so it wasn't quite an easy ride but I've cycled in worse.
4. Dropped off a big bag of mixed textiles for recycling at the local recycling point. One bag of clutter less.
5. My bits and pieces of shopping at the supermarket I now use roughly once a month cost me less than a fiver in cash - special offers, a couple of reductions and value brands. Some ingredients to make little treats for myself.
Yes, I could buy them but where's the fun in that?Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
I forgot to post about what happened to Dr C.
He posted a pic of a broken, very flimsy looking stepladder on FB. Luckily, he was completely unhurt when it broke. He is a big guy, but not THAT big, however, in his words the stepladder 'folded like an origami panda.'
He is now negotiating the permanent loan of my stepladder, as arthritis has made my use of it largely redundant.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Love the sound of "origami panda" but v. relieved our beloved Dr C was unhurt
1. DD is really enjoying her activity week, making new friends, doing lots of fun sports and crafts.
2. I've had fun with my laminator, getting things ready for class!
3. I've nearly caught up with all those things I've shared to myself only on FB - it's the modern equivalent of cutting an article out of a magazine to read later
4. Had a lovely and cheap haircut, much needed! My hair grows so darned fast...
5. Am actually enjoying my 'fast' day - again, haven't made a note of what I've eaten, but know that it's probably less than a 1/5 of a usual day's consumption!0 -
& Sinkers!
Look at the day. Tomorrow is a early POETS Day. No pleasure as away from BoPsie.
Like educationalists, human remains, social workers, the accountant has been sacked!
Did I mention nana BoP and the plate being passed round posts back. Well seems the trough was well watered!0
