    Good evening everyone :)
Still trying (and struggling!) to keep positive, but here's my 5 -

    1. Got my essay finished and submitted
    2. Had a nice bath and a scrub so am all nice and clean
    3. My hair is now shorter and will take less time to wash and dry in the mornings. Really should know better than to start hacking away at my hair on a whim. It doesn't look great...
    4. Got an email to say my Disney rewards freebie DVD has been dispatched
    5. Early night watching Celebrity Masterchef on iplayer, I do like that show :)

I can't really remember what I did yesterday (Tuesday) but I know it culminated in camping out, a campfire with hot dogs and marshmallows and looking at the Perseids!

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Getting in my own comfy bed at 2am when we all decided the camping was too uncomfortable.

    2) A lie in until 10am!

    3) Went to parents' to collect all the camping stuff and had a game of swing ball.

    4) Went to the park later for drone flying and one of my work colleagues was there. She was one of the nicest people I worked with so obviously has left :-/

    5) Made a massive roast for tea - gammon etc.

    6) Sons will hardly ever watch a film in its entirety (unless we're at the cinema) but I put Jaws on and they were spellbound!

    7) Enjoyed the Great British Bake Off.

judi - tough luck for DS. Is it his pen hand?
'An amazing job you are doing & in caring for your person' - no, not so and am in no way noble. Vicar is. Those paramadics are. Wonderful Dr S is. I was using this Thread for some sort of nebulous release, sounding off frustration when problem and solution are clear, can marry, but not be enforced. This is in no way praiseworthy, just the opposite. Person's children no longer come to her. Why should they? They must save their own lives and I approve.
It's being aware that there are hidden thousands like these, one by one, who will become less hidden, as they did during thatcher times.
You are remarkable, with your daily work along parallel lines.

    QUOTE]
No not pen hand luckily (or unluckily according to DS!)

Need to point out here that Paramedics, Doctors, vicars and myself are PAID to care - you on the other hand clearly do it out of genuine human concern - frustrating it may be and rant away about that but the fact you still help your person is noble indeed!!!

There are many, many hidden people as you say - it is heart breaking! - but your one is definitely one of the lucky ones to have people like you in her life - as frustrating as it is!

Early POETS Day. The nest beckons. Natives are restless. Feathers appear ruffled.

    More on that later. Bye4Now

Morning all - Mrs Trellis of Mid wales here (;))

Mhags - couselling sounds like a plan.
Ampersand - take the praise, you deserve it
    McC - why Panda?
Kittikins - well done on the fast - I love it, though have struggled the last time or two. Will have to make renewed efforts.
Mrs LW - love that ONLY one courgette is a pleasure:D

    Pleasures for whenever

    1. Watching the birds on my bird feeders - just fascinating and worth the cost of the nuts and balls (ooh err)
    2. Glorious walk with OH over the hill to Aberdovey. We have been coming here for 19 years and still find new paths and new views. We took another walk along the beach later and saw the most glorious sunset
    3. Painting my old pine furniture yesterday. sat in the yard in the sunshine, painting and painting - and losing several pounds running up and down stairs with it all
    4. Finally found a picture i like with some money I got for selling a piece of my late aunties jewellery. i wouldn't wear the jewellery and it was languishing in a drawer - the picture will be proudly displayed on a wall.
5 Banoffi pie for breakfast - well, it contains all the food groups :rotfl:
    6. just heard this morning that my FN (favourite niece, for the uninitiated - i know one shouldn't have faves but she is, for many reasons) got A*AA in her A levels. I am soo proud of her.

    Have a good day all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Like mcc, I'm feeling something extra is happening on this good ship OSP atm.

:wave:Hello beluga  Have you been lurking or did you find us by chance? Main thing is that you did.:)
Even more well done on getting that essay in. Shake hands with judi.
    What are you studying?
Hair. some of us are lucky enough to have a college training salon within range. Super cheap and supervised, so good. Plenty of home hints from mcc and sparrer.
...oh well, bop too, if you want hints on beardcare.

    1. Have been at vicarage - something special there today too, not counting
......& reading 'incest' for 'incense' from Jeremiah[it's a real thunderbolts and lightning heavy terror job, so colluding with weather today]....yup, heard myself, inner world stopped, corrected, than added a 'sorry'........everyone :rotfl:later.
Much later discussion with Vic. on person and ridiculousness of situ re: committal and the further harm her knowing manipulation of same is doing her ......judi, vjm, we'll agree to differ, but I am right:-) Pics and news re: Tuesday's guest a very welcome counterpoint.

    2. Waited for perseids hier soir. Balmy out, but misty cloud cover. so didn't happen here, but apparently loads happened at vicarage, within a few miles of here:mad:. Vicar stayed out till 2, trying to get pics. Just heard whacking great thunder from R5x cricket ladies+big weather viva voces. Here too. Took precautionaries late yesterday. Today's raspberries picked and hose is on rhubarb. Not that crazy. Heard more thunder at 4 bells. Went out again but nothing to see. A real waiting feeling has been in the air since yesterday. & wants to be out in it all. Will do after this.

    3. Silk floaty waistcoat handed on to friend and it's t'riffic on her.

    4. Grâce au cricket commentary, learn that today is International Left Handers' Day.
    That'll do &:T

    5. Somehow the rubbish men went by extra early, while & was still womanhandling neighbour's shed-building, bunny-accommodating rearrangement leftovers - 8 bags full, plus &'s own. Put them out the night before and foxes and wotnots rip them open. Anyway, raced back in for keys, loaded all and tracked the fellas down, only a mile or 2 away. & tooted. Driver was lovely. & explained. Driver jumped down while the team gathered up further afield, and helped, which hadn't been my intention at all. Was just so grateful he stopped.

I can hear it, sounds B-I-G:T Must go and commune:D.
Thanks for the postcard, Mrs Trellis...moving back North anytime soon?
    Keep us apprised via Jack.
    Great FN news - Uni?

Yes, I liked 'only ONE courgette' too. None growing this year, but multiple memories of multiples everywhere. Couldn't give them away. Love them though.

  • 1) DD1 s pupils results for AS and A2 are all fine and the youngsters all got their uni places of choice, wonderful stuff!

    2) Walking in a thunderstorm in town this morning, the air was so warm it was like being in a sauna, lots of rumblings in the background and quite a lot of rain falling, I felt like Gene Kelly in 'Singing in the Rain'.

    3) Lots of YS bargains in T*sco, some rump steak for supper tonight, some outdoor reared pork, 2 x nice cheeses and a couple of bunches of asparagus.

    4) 1/2 each of a perfect ripe avocado with some homemade vinaigrette for lunch today, delicious!

    5) Bumping unexpectedly into a friend who is in process of moving from the village and nattering with her all the way into town on the bus, she'll be missed.
  • Hello all - my day has been pretty good.

    1) Catching up with an old friend I haven't seen for ages over coffee and homemade cake here at home.

    2) Making bath bombs with my 4 year old niece as I had some leftover citric acid in the cupboard from elderflower cordial making.

    3) Blackberry picking, and making blackberry muffins - delicious.

    4) Getting a "free lunch" as our local supermarket has reopened largely expanded and has tons of new products so they were offering free samples of today. Croissants, cookies, fresh crab, cheese and crackers, local sausages, local apple juice and their own elderflower and grape cordial (kids wine, according to my niece!)

    5) Bagging half a freezer's worth of fresh fish for a tenner on yellow sticker day! Had to make 2 trips to get it all as couldn't carry it in one go.

Day off today and been very productive- might be getting my mojo back after a wile of it being MIA!!!

    1. Walk in the woods at 8.30 with DS DD2 and DD3 and Dolly dog of course - second visit from bug man to get rid of my beetle infestation so enforced exit from the house at 8.30 for 4 hours - woods were lovely - need to do that more often in the morning!!!
    2. Breakfast out - not very MSE but kids ate free and was delicious , relaxed and very filling (didn't need to eat again all day!) - why does toast taste better when you eat out??
    3. Uniform shopping - less traumatic than anticipated - but just as expensive!!! Found a little uniform shop in little town where DD3's school is - so didn't need to venture into the big and chaotic shop in larger town! lovely personal service with time and space to try on sizes to get the best fit with growing room! Very impressed! Just DS blazer to pick up and DD3's shoes to get - torn between letting her wear the flimsy ones she likes from supermarket that will last her 5 min but are cheap, or persuading her to go for more expensive but chunky ones that should be more comfortable for everyday wear and last longer unless she grows more (she's 11 and a size 7!!!) decisions, decisions!
    3. sorted out spare room and all the junk that was in it so DD1 can have it this weekend - bagged up all clothes dumped in there to take to cash for clothes - but it has closed down! will look for another and if not will take to our own charity shop tomorrow!
    4. DS new computer arrived (finally at 6 pm) he has done well waiting for 4 whole days to get the better spec than the instant buy one in the big commercial shop - he's very happy after a little blip when he couldn't get access to internet!!!
    5. DD1 coming home tonight!!! can't wait! I miss her!
