VJsmum - re Dr C's choice of metaphor, '(the) broken stepladder folded like an origami panda under me'.
Dr C has a very original turn of phrase and always has had, slightly mixed Asian metaphor there, but very typical of him. He can be extremely amusing company at times. :D

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Ah, the long awaited operation that was supposed to cure all smaller son's woes. Off we toddled for course of antibiotics SEVENTEEN this morning..... Dr barely cast a look in our direction. I thought this was supposed to change everything. :-( Still, antibiotics are starting to work. I feel very despondent now, though.

    2) Had breakfast in town (had first available appointment at the crack of dawn!)

    3) Off to big town to see my friend from school and her children. And her friend's children we met whilst playing out on the field.

    4) Killed time in town afterwards and found 3 geocaches in the newly done up canal basin/locks.

    5) Watched Ant Man at the cinema.

    6) Late night for sons tonight as we are picking my dad and brother up from a barbeque and "test all the beers" at a nearby brewery!!

ETA 7) My friend stopped here this morning on her way to the coast (ice cream town!) but we were out at the doctors. So she found our geocache!

Evening all! Almost bedtime here for me, the weekend means workety work for me, however today I did a tiny little 4 hour shift which was quite delightful.

Did lots of baking this morning at work which always makes me happy. Made apple and cinnamon muffins, carrot cakes, yoyos ( melting moments) , sausage rolls, frittata and showed boss how to make brownies....he's mastered the muffins on my days off!

Then off I went, had the car so drove home , a beautiful day , loving the cherry blossom and magnolia trees. Where I used to park for free is now metered but was able to park right in the carpark outside work for free .

Home and took my squabbling daughters out for lunch. Had a nice chat with them both but they don't half niggle at each other at times!

Home again and cut the back grass and grass around the veg plots , we are on a big corner plot and have many different areas of garden. We are also responsible for cutting the grass verges at the front of our houses but I didn't do them today. Swept up the back porch and patio areas....'assisted ' by Haggis...he likes to chase / grab the broom!

Bit of de-cluttering done. Moved some furniture out to the middle shed! Threw out a broken lamp.

Salmon , mash potato, snow peas, broccoli and peas for tea. I just had the veggies as I don't like fish.

    Have a lovely day :)

    1. These:
    http://www.theguardian.com/travel/2015/aug/14/british-holiday-pictures-rain-raining-rained

    2. Ongoing with person. Ambulance leaving+ambulance car stationary outside as & rtn'd hier soir. Sudden strong thought - does all this involvement[professionals' included] work against full-care committal? Have em'd vicar, and am staying away now. which doesn't help & square this with conscience, liking person, sense of justice and right, principles, any and every other blutty warring aspect...and knowing I'm cathartically using a public forum is another 'knowing' of person's manipulation....ever decreasing circles, into which no-one else must be sucked. An intelligent person, with family, who learnt...

    2. ...and so to banging on window this a.m.. Not person, &'s 1st thought. Something finally completed 3/8[ongoing for months before with Major-General Crock-Up in charge] rears iriot-head again. & back on phone, which works, as &utah would not earlier. 'You have no DSL connection.'
    Pitiful, pitiful excuses .... again.
No, & will NOT give up HER p/w, her only proof of debacle resolved.
& will send a copy, upon receipt of a freepost envelope. Agreed.

    3. You all bearing with me through this, but hope you are skipping it. & knows no different. V. wise. & needs France:-)

    4. On now - Clare in the Community:

'It's supposed to be about me.......this leaving party.':rotfl:
    We all know them.
pk - do listen. CITC will help 'their money for your time' mindset and you will laugh. Guaranteed.:D

    5. Laundry disaster on Sunday. Church baptism whites came out dark, DARK thisthis.....no idea how, or so thought, until DEEP MINING of rubber door thingy produced gathered wodges of ancient red paper serviette.
WHERE DID THAT COME FROM???? a.k.a. how can & shift blame when sole candidate?
    Oh dear.
Careful restoration sequence ever since:mild bleach+steradent, savon de Marseilles, cold water, long flat soaking. hot wash. Repeated. Again. Again. Again. Twice daily. Told at Vicarage yesterday. No worries. Last night's final Again has cracked it. Drying now. Not outside. It's raining, of course. Might as well return to no. 1.

Morning all (afternoon?) Working from home aka ice cream town home. Crikey it's boring.

AMpersand - conscience is a boogar innit
Frith - hope SS gets sorted
DD - is it bad that i know exactly which CP you are listening to? One of my faves
Mrs LW - avocado is one of my favourite things - a desert island food if you will. Others are mango, ice cream (but only decent brands or homemade), chocolate (over 85% cocoa), and peanut butter. I feel i would totally be ok if i only ate those things - similar textures I think.

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. My DD posted this on FB yesterday - i will repeat in it's entirety and hope you understand (to put it in context, she went to the theatre to see Curious Incident.. and posted a picture from a poster outside the theatre that read "It's a story about difference, about being an outsider and about seeing the world in a different way"
Something on the outside of the theatre yesterday that I think is very important. It can be coupled with the shirt I saw earlier in the day which read, "Autism is seeing the world differently."

These are two simple statements that are very important to me, and I think they're completely correct. This is actually a post I've been meaning to make for a while; a lot of the time, the world we live in doesn't make very much sense to me. People say things that don't make sense, do things, there's no structure or rules to follow which just makes things incredibly confusing. I even bought a hoodie from the show which sums things up rather neatly: I find people confusing.

And there are a lot of other things as well, too much happening at once, social customs that seem odd, textures I don't like, sounds I can't stand, things that would just be of mild discomfort to neurotypical people, but cause me a great deal of distress. And again, they can be brought down to one thing: the world itself confuses me.

It's one reason why I like television, films, books, and video games so much. They all have a story, which means they have a structure, they follow certain rules which makes them easier to understand. A few days ago, someone at work made a joke about how I was talking so much that they wondered if I could even breathe. I know that nothing was meant by it, but I instantly felt very hurt, and confused, and panicked. I didn't know that I was doing anything wrong. And now I'm scared to talk at all at work because I don't want to do anything wrong again.

People have asked me before if I just don't like people. The short answer is yes, I don't like people. Being around people means I might mess up, and so it's easier to be on my own, where I am perfectly comfortable building my own little world, with structures and rules that I can follow. The long answer is no, I like some people, but they have to be people that I trust to not micro-manage myself around them. I'm very lucky that my flatmates, some members of my family, and my uni friends and teachers fit into this category. But it's still easier to be by myself.

But none of this makes me weird. And none of this makes me, or people like me scary. Autistic people and people with Asperger's are just people who see and process things differently. And yes, we can be hard work sometimes, we are higher maintenance, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. In the book and the play (which I highly recommend people read if you want to understand a little more about how our minds work), Christopher talks about how he can do anything. There's no doubt in his mind, he's completely confident, he can do anything, and that's a fact.

My names is V..E..B.., I am autistic, and I can do anything I want.

I am so proud of her, and that she can articulate it in this way. I am sad that we only realised last year that she had Aspergers but proud that she has coped up until then without the knowledge.

    2. Comments on the above post telling her just how wonderful she is.
    3. Going for lunch with friend and collecting new picture bought with bracelet money
    4. Using up leftovers for dinner rather than chucking them. And eating some leftover banoffee pie, despite the no sugar ban :o
    5. DD ending up in Chester instead of here, cos she was in the wrong part of the train (not the pleasure, nor really anything to do with 1 above). The pleasure was that she just about kept it together and, with help and advice from OH, got back home - she wanted to have a melt down (see 1), but didn't.:T

    Have a great day all

Thanks! Bath bombs are basically - 1 part citric acid to 3 parts bicarbonate of soda. Mix together, add your smell (we used lavender and mandarin essential oils), colour (edible glitter from the cake decorating box in our case) and "bits" (dried lavender, etc). Then using a spray bottle, mist and mix until it clumps together. Not too much water as it will start to froth! Squeeze into moulds, pop them out and leave to dry. We used cake pop moulds that I got for Christmas which I have yet to use for actual cake pops because they're such a bloody faff.

    So far, today:

    1) Joined the tortoise staring morosely out of the back door at the blooming rain.

    2) Unpacked and found room for my Approved Food order. My niece is currently using the box as a den with a ton of blankets, her dolls and the iPad watching dinosaurs on Netflix.

    3) Scouring the knitting websites for a Benjamin Bunny style hat pattern as requested by madam.

    4) Will be tackling the housework later.

    5) Fish and chips and blackberry crumble for pud tonight!

    3)

    Thank you :)

I have one more, talking of book of Face. I spent a part of yesterday evening talking to someone i didn't know as such but was a girl i had been intensely jealous of as a teen cos she went out with a boy i liked. Turns out she's really nice, still knows him, still pining for him 30+ years later. Funny old life, innit
