5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Mrs LW your posts are so descriptive.
1. Quiet day and tidied the house.
2. Spent some time weeding again and it has made some of the garden look better. I trying to keep the areas I have cleared weed free - the rest is still overgrown.
3. Had a bonfire at end of day as wind was blowing in the right direction. It cleared piles of branches.
4. Only had to cook for me so had an omelette. Only DS2 was in and he brought home part of a pizza he hadn't finished at lunch when he was working.
5. Early night and read my kindle.0 -
ampersand - take it steady as you go. You may feel old age being forcibly rammed upon you but I'll bet you can already spit... Courage, and daily blessings for That Mug which helps me in th'encircling gloom.
Purple kitten - holding you & your household and its many paws & loving hearts in my thoughts.
Mrs LW - I too love the after-rain smell, if only as I stop sneezing for a bit. Today, it's solid rain... Must make time to see Clangers! Baling hay - wonderful sensory treat.
mhagster - hurrah he's driving & yes, walking whilst good for you can be a bit strenuous. Labrynthitis back? Darn. Rest up & cuddle pup?! & OH of course! Greenhouse?! Ah, corned beef hash - comfort food of the gods...
DundeeDoll - so glad you're back on real brews! All the best with imminent family wedding
Skint - dear gods put some of that weight back on, and well done saying no to the garage
village life - fingers crossed for burned son! Skin grafts are months of fuss & hospital trips but at least you now the healing is supervised. Well done DS2!
VJsmum - jellyfish in rainy Singapore? Welcome Home!
judi - cadet camp - so long as nothing broken, all part of the fun?
Tealady - lucky brother to have you as that waitress!
Susan - we too had a toasted cheese session - there's a certain sort of weather that just calls for it, somehow.
VickyA - "gammy eye"? Hurrah for our NHS! Careful with the Lakeland catalogue...
kittikins - welcome to the happy world of Saxons & well done with the glassmaking!
BoP - oh dear. "kitchen disaster" sounds *very* uncomfortable. Sensational steam!
sparrer - a coconut tortoise?! Welcome home!
OS Pleasures recently
"Just pull !" - a restored two handled saw is going into use but the child labour is trying to be helpful & push...
Today I bought another three variants on thymes & oregano which I'd previously grown myself, from a supermarket, intended for planting outdoors and six times the size for the same price as the garden centre seedlings. They're big enough to survive the legless attackers & vigorous enough to keep us well supplied with the herbs we cook with!
After the lads are back from the craft fair, I'm delighted to relax with those old classics - cold pizza & a can of cola. Ah, the good old irresponsible days come flooding back!
Listening to Himself going somewhat bananas over touchscreen technology. Admittedly I doubt the website had been optimised for touchscreen tablets, but....
Hobbit on TV - family frankly enthralled all over again. "What has it got in it's pocketses?" re-entering family language alongside awe at Andy Serkis' flexibility.
Toolboxes! Wooden boxes, cut & shaped, tools for the purpose of - and Himself is delighted. Suddenly we have floorspace again & toes are safe from saws.
Aww. The Candidate, asleep, was wrestling his duvet. I stepped in to apply a deft tug & resettled it. "Love you mummy" cheeped my still-asleep teen & wriggled deeper under.
Builders on bobbins again - brews, butties & knees all just waiting for the morning to start.
I asked for the urine colour advice chart to be put back in the staff toilets. Later I was assured "Not forgotten, just trying to pin Jenny D down" - "sounds complex & expensive!" Good to see a genuine grin in this place.
Much tickled at the incongruity of a convoy of laden low loaders & the twinkling lights that advise other road users.
Aww! Schoolgirls waving happily at a four vehicle police convoy - wish I could see the official grins back at them! When the school bus dropped three small boys off, they too clocked the convoy, thumbs-upped and beamed.
Splendid school report gets the takeaway requested. Everyone happy (MS sort-of as um, frequent flyer discount) & virtue rewarded with his weakness, Reece's Pieces, acquizzed on promotion.
A lovely text chat with a tool stall holder about the garden, a scythe he has, child-now-past-GCSEs, and the virtues of child labour...
A very sweet email from an eBay seller - who agrees the post appears to have lost my purchase & is preparing to send me a replacement. I think we both hope this will placate the postal gods into actually delivering the item, but I am a happy punter just at the pleasant intelligence. [It worked!]
Neighbour has a new pup, a fast moving squiggle of black ink trying to explore everything. Nosed my outstretched hands intrigued, gave me a short lick of approbation and decided to heed his master's voice. Can you tell I'm a bit smitten? [Neighbour, amused & surprised, dubbed me "pup whisperer"!]
Recognising some reenactors on TV, amongst the big Waterloo reenactment & much impressed by the logistics & beauty amongst the history & deaths.
Found beds & wardrobes for lads' rooms & got free delivery! Yikes will shortly have to empty teenage bedrooms (!), wash carpets, wash & repaint walls then install beds, wardrobes etc now.... Plan becoming reality is slightly startling!
Son's expression as I load his Kindle with Warhammer tosh without editorial! Akin to his grandmother's expression as she realises Just How Tall he's grown from finding herself eyeball to elbow mid-hug...
Solstice! The starting tape has gone up for Glastonbury and Christmas & yes, Wellington boots are once again Summer's must have item...
Big hugs to all who need them, benevolent weather improved health and jaffa cakes to all who wish for same and may the stethoscopes & stab vests noted on the whiteboard on the wall not be called for.
(We've nicknamed the callcentre Wonderland. It seems to operate on very precise but slightly odd rules.)0 -
Oh I do love a DFV post! Do you still see your tailor in his window?
I love reading all of the summery / gardeny/ walking posts from this time of year. I think I'm now ( almost 5 years on) in tune with the back to front seasons here in Melbourne , I'm glad we do get distinct seasonal changes here in Victoria . However our summers are hot and dry , usually, uncomfortably so for me so I love reading about UK summer.
Well today was Monday , I'm heading for bed and I'm glad today is past. I've felt a bit stressy and short tempered today so I will quite happily put the day behind me.
Up at stupidly early o'clock. We had hospital , just for a change! But just for a change it was a different hospital where OH was getting his IV infusion. The last time OH said never again, the last time we found his tumour that night, so I don't know if that's what was up with my mood.....the two are not connected other than it was the same day. I have to remember how far we/ he have come in that time ( 9 weeks) but sometimes it's all rather overwhelming.
Anyway, I started a bit of a journal, wrote some lists of things I want to do. i journaled a lot the last time but not this, other than what I write on here. Ticked off 2/10 things on to do list.
Hospital was atrocious as usual.i complained to consultant on phone the other week , he would deal with it but really don't think he did...anyway, another 8 weeks before we have to go again. I'd told him that OH was not fit enough to be left hanging around whilst they looked for a chair...that happened again today, he has crappy veins , just get anaesthetist to canulate please...no, the nurse will try and she tried but failed, caused him no amount of pain and distress....anaesthetist came and in first time. Had IV pump on opposite side of his body so tube crossing over him, BP/ heart monitor on other side, with wires across him....surely it would be easier swapping them around. Just lots of thoughtless ness...we are paying for this! anyway...I had my grumpy head on !
Home and I was starving and ate probably my whole days worth of calories in one go, so felt crappy after that! ( they were very delicious calories though! ) snoozed!
DD2 has passed her maths exam but been moved down a class...this is okay , it's probably her weakest subject . If she failed any exams she has to resit in the school holidays.
Took some more read magazines to library swap box....I'm almost through my pile! That was one of my to do list items. Then over to pharmacy ...I should maybe have shares in a pharmaceutical company the amount we are spending! The pharmacist is the loveliest pharmacist I know! Combined this with walking the dog!
Made sweet and sour chicken for dinner . I was still full from my calorie overload earlier on so only had a wee bit.
Wrote an email to friends.....tick number 2 on list.
It stayed dry today but a very cold wind blowing! Do have a lovely day and if you can do it with a smile rather than a grumpy head ...all the better!0 -
And karma did return.
5 Back inn SparraLands, again. Bolt down the hatch. Seems a tad blowy over here. Still, only two more nights after this one.
4 Karma yesterday, after kitchen disaster on Saturday. Double fish pie, home made, with home made parsley sauciness. Tickled with cheese. Had to, as BoPsie is not fed propper when BoP is away. Sits rubs tum. Minds BoP has infusion today at mill. Bubble n squeak, flat mushroom. Mushy peas and fried egg. Topped with carrots. Rubs tum. Any more!
3 Now eating furred strawbs. Home grown. Well ruff skinned. And cheap. And I note that one of the emporiums is still losing money. Good.
2 Seems I went twice last day. Must be the new interface! Carp. I has seen that tattie and Penelope too many times now!
1 How far you have to go, is how short you have to reach!0 -
1) The whole wonderful day spent with the Zebra child and his mum at their house, lunch out and lots of playing with riotous laughter, amazing.
2) Whole banks of Oxeye daisies on the motorway verges as we travelled, so many it looked like snow, so beautiful.
3) Lovely weather to travel home in, good travel conditions, clear roads and sunshine, smashing.
4) The sight of the Zebra child chasing the family cat with a new nappy in his little hand, we hope it wasn't too traumatic for the cat who finally escaped having used every evasive tactic and hiding place known to catkind, that child is determined bless him!
5) Being home again, taking of my sandals and putting on my slippers, small pleasures but Oh so nice!0 -
1. Leftover chicken for dinner with freshly made spicy rice and hot sauce
2. A load of towels on the line and a load of clothes in the basket to go upstairs plus a final (smallish) load in the machine, merrily whizzing round. Using minimal detergent and a capful of baking soda as softener
3. Getting home a bit early from work
4. Using the time to sit and read in the garden. Not warm, but pleasant and sunny
5. Remembering to drink some water ...Looking ahead0 -

Such a much better day than yesterday .
Good enough nights sleep, I only woke up when I heard DS getting up for work and he'd slept in a bit! He's working full time over the uni holiday.
Pottered around for an hour or so. I hung a washing out on the line as it was so windy. My poor greenhouse had been blown over through the night, so I had to rescue that....bad dog Haggis was stealing the pots , scattering the compost on the ground and chewing the pots.
We went out for lunch , i had spicy pumpkin soup which has was amazing but oh! The chilies that were hiding were a surprise!
OH had coffee number 2!
In to the city for hospital ...again! Parking can be a problem but after a few drive round the block we managed to get a space right outside the Grainger Musueum , which is only open on certain days , so we had a bit of an mooch around there. Spotted some jonquils that have flowered....spring is just around the corner.
Home , with a phone call from friend in Sydney to pass half an hour.
Had to buy a new iron as the current one is causing the whole house electricity to go off!
Grocery shopping....the price is not a pleasure but all stocked up again.
Back to work tomorrow just for the day and then my new shifts kick in , will be working Friday - Monday for foreseeable future, though not forever. Most of our hospital appointments are mid week.so suits for now. The positive will be more chance of incentive bonus as sales are more at the weekend.0 -
