Ampersand - I appreciated the jokes individually. Two black eyes require Hepburn Charade glasses & Scarf, non? Request permission to find a suitable rhubarb stick to admonish toxic neighbours son with suitably.
mhagster - please reassure us that you are ensconced in Vast sweaters for cosy relaxation? When not doing *everything* else? [Delegate! Please?] Hurrah blanket chest!
DundeeDoll - I salute you. And am counting the days. (Might your mental wellbeing constitute grounds for appeal by dissertation writers?) gbf retires in a week? Who will you enjoy those special lunches with?!

    OS Pleasures recently
Son looking like a Sith Lord under my red fleece blanket.

Chortling over car sickness tales with the chap shoving my car through it's MOT. [Success]

The herb garden is rather beautifully in flower. We will have pretty as well as tasty bolognese!

After a rough start to the week, a plate of Toad in the Hole is a cockle warming pick-me-up.

Capsule wardrobe sorted for call centre work - several T shirts picked out to raise grins, spirits etc.

In glorious sunshine, I got three loads of washing onto the line & child brought them all in dry. Awed at how white school shirts look in sunlight!

Scheming for family snap to brighten my callcentre desk. Shades of Simpsons, "Do It For Her"...

Guided a senior colleague's feet towards the delights of photo mugs (by email of possible sites after happy chat at teapoint) - hoping to see unique & glorious mug of his beloved Strat!

A day off, so/as shuttling mother-in-law around, bullying her into accepting some plants, then taking off boots & socks to enjoy her lawn properly before digging, blending compost & planting the bright assortment. She looked at me, blissfully barefoot, "dryad!".

Paused at Lidl. Tunnocks! Plus some little treats for everyone, says she glinting over the amaretti, and eyeing sons' similar glints over pistachios & mini-fish. All things considered, a Grand Day Out!

"They had jalapeño pizza at school!" - it's certainly one way of focusing teenaged minds on maths revision. I look forward to seeing If It Works.

We saw a tanker reversing from an old folks home. What was in it, we speculated? Liniment? Formaldehyde? [ah, Robin Williams, we miss you still] Custard? A voice from the back seat opined "Gin!". Some days I wonder if we've got this parenting bit sorted...

Have received my callup to call centre so am assembling Going OVer the Top tackle. My "Dig ForVictory" mug (hugs &!), Chicken Bovril, recent family photo, sundry "motivational" images to circulate around our team etc. Have had my Out of Office message checked for spelling & political correctness by line manger so can set that up with a clear conscience (and nasty grin.)

Big hugs to all who need them, atta-boy Raffles on all this lovely Yellow Stuff (and get a bit more Down Under if you can?) and keep smiling - it charms strangers, & disconcerts those who know & love you, something wonderful.

    Pleasures for today (Thursday).

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) A sunny day.

    3) Nothing awful happened at work. Was put in another new (to me) class and one of the one who "never does anything" had to sit by me. He must have been stunned - to the point that he did 32 questions! He did mutter as he packed his bag that he'd "never done so much work in a lesson". :-)

    4) Chips for tea.

    5) Planted out the tomatoes and repotted the chilli pepper plants.

    6) Enjoyed watching Born Naughty. Smaller son can diagnose the children with asd in about 30 seconds.

    7) Sister has texted about my outing on Saturday to chose my birthday present...

ahoy shipmates. h2only challenge still going strong, though like the idea of the gin tankard dfv
    great news mhags
    1) met gbf for lunch and we shared a kitkat with 'gossip' written on the label
    2) then we went bought me a little makeup bag which says 'my middle name's amazing'. they had lots and his fave was 'there's glitter flowing through my veins'. oh gbf you're so g :rotfl:
    3) just about to head to catch bus for old writing group's book launch and xoh phoned to see if i wanted a lift. bus fare saved
    4) book launch very good, though sad to hear 1st chairman had recently died. he was a good age, but still sad. mse os pleasure was to have a chat with his widow (and yes, i had water while all around the other non-drivers coiffed wine)
    5) then was going to catch bus home, but saw friends in pub so went to join them (and yes, water again for me). they gave me a lift home so bus fare saved, though did have to pay for the water as it was bottled

    1. What a gorgeous day!
    2. A long cool shower using some very posh toiletries from a set which I shouldn't have opened until the current ones are finished, but I'm always aware of mcculloch's signature.
    3. Delicious breakfast on the patio, 2 slices of hm seeded wm bread with butter, I slice ginger and lime marmalade, 1 slice with Greek thyme honey and a pot of Lady Grey under my 'new' Liberty store front tea cosy.
    4. Trying to read the headlines but being distracted by bird song, so much more pleasant
    5. Brushed the stairs, washed down the paintwork. There's something satisfying about working with a dustpan and stiff brush.
    6. Did some hand washing which as dry in just a couple of hours
    7. Tried to fix the jet washer to the outside tap without success, just soaked my feet so DD is going to send DSiL to do the patios. Sometimes a man has his uses – and it is his, so he should know how to use it ;)
    8. Met a friend in a nearby market town, had a pot of tea and a scone in the sunshine in the cobbled square, watched the world go by and put it to rights.
    9. Home to bathe the dog and feed the pets
    10. Showered, changed and back out to see Anthony and Cleopatra at a local independent cinema then to a small Italian restaurant for supper.
    11. Just in, very tired and very contented. I may just have a lie-in tomorrow zzzzzzzzz

    Sweet dreams :)

Mhags - good news that Mr Mhags is continuing to improve.

    1. Cooked chicken in slow cooker which was tasty and very welcome when we eventually ate last night.

    2. Watching the chickens putting themselves to bed and getting themselves on top of the coop.

    3. Sitting in the garden with DH and having a glass of wine.

    4. £20 voucher arrived in the post.

    5. Good day at work but had worked in different places on different days this week so hadn't managed to convince myself it was actually Thursday.

Ampersand - thanks for the heads up. Euston station is a particular bugbear of mine - especially wo St Pnacras just down the road
DforV - gin tanker at the nursing home? I am booking my place
DD - only water? For how long? I just...... Couldn't. The main thing I would miss is tea (not wine as many may think
Mhags - continued good wishes sent your way

    Pleasures lately

1 have I checked in since the FA cup final? What a hoot. Great day great atmosphere, great goals - just not for the right side :rotfl: I will never go again, but what a great experience once
2 good visit to dad, despite "uncle" having died that morning. Uncle was dads sisters third husband and we didn't know him that well, but still sad. The pleasure being that dad seemed to be handling it well. We had a bottle of wine and raised a toast
3 DS nearly through those dreaded exams. Had a sticky moment around German - he was in a foul mood and I thought it might all come undone. Two left, but they are biggies - maths and history
4 work is not a pleasure but colleagues are and we have a laugh.
5 so, I was sat on the train going into Birmingham. Opposite me was an immaculately dressed man, black suit, white shirt ( with black buttons), dickie bow and highly polished boots. What was he - bouncer (at eleven in the mornin)?, croupier?, architect (dickie bow and all that) I was so intrigued that I followed him out of the station. :rotfl: but he didn't turn towards casino ville, really too early for bouncer (and he was too short). All the while I am facebooking. - I will never know (sorry to disappoint), but he walked up towards the courts so we have settled on barrister. Sigh, I think it is as well that I gave up my job as spy :rotfl:
    6. All marking done (well, that s not true - I still have the random 35 from overseas but do have more time), all results logged, all revision sessions sorted. Now I might be able to forward think

Off to HK and SIN for the next two weeks. See you anon

vjsmun Ooooh! We look forward to hearing of your trip out east...well North west to me! Safe travels
    Sparrer your day sounded lovely
DFV I sm suitably wrapped up , DD1 knitted me a fabulous hat and its been well used of late! We have throws and blankets a plenty dotted all over the place and thank you for your concern but I'm quite relaxed past week or so. No more rushing in and out of city, I do delegate but kids are all mid exams / studying and working too.

Well it was Friday , I was back at work, it was fine and then I came home .

Had a cronut.....not sure if they've reached Uk yet....a cross between a croissant and a doughnut. Oh my! Schlurpalicious! Only had half of one though!

Did a bit of pruning in the garden, our garden is huge and needs so much work. Anyway, a bit of fresh air and I do like to prune, very satisfying!

Bad dog! I had taken pies out if the fridge for tea, was just waiting in oven warming up......munch, munch...bad dog ate 3 meat pies! He is in his doghouse ...he was dragged there as he refused to budge!

Will be picking up DD1 at work soon ....along with bad dog no doubt.

Work again tomorrow , I've not worked 4 days in a row in a while!

    Have a good Friday :)

&utah in-/af-/fected by latest mse nuisances, as posted elsewhere - all this week and ongoing, it appears. Makes for tiresome re-typing, saving, pasting, posting.

Will try, as is the nz&rugby way.

    1. Car back. Neither &nor village garagiste saw it happen, but nothing wrong with &tyre that toxic neighbour involvement can't explain. Uninvited involvement proof pointed out to & and 'witnessed' by other persons it appears. Anyway, kind garagiste re-did &tyres+new cleverclogs dustcaps, inc.wheel-balancing, checked all for 8 hrs. All still up and perfect. Says ring any time for him to check for 'interference'.
£20 gladly paid, which he called 1/2hr Labour, was reluctant to charge anything. Rtnd with card, bon bot of grand vin[not UK available]+ h-g bouquet garni. Garagiste v.pleased. & feels someone safe, reliable on hand when Fenboys not viable

    2. On back of car retrieval and small drive, just 5 No More Plants from usual village house and lovely old narrow hoe, ss fork, 30m prof. drip hose and hozelock fixings. £5 the lot.

    3. Continued on and picked up more carrots for neighbour's bunnies - just as well. New consignment in and they disappear fast. Was just enjoying being mobile again...pathetic, I know. No shackles, no chains, don't hem me in. Neighbour hadn't seen & since Twickenham happenings. Was shocked 'You've got 2 black eyes...and look at your face...and neck...and throat. You're all purple. Someone been strangling you?' Now, neighbour knows something about these in his race-horsey life. That's how he lost his front teeth - kicked in I learnt. We thoroughly enjoyed comparison talk, but his advice I take on board. Next scan shortly.

    4. Tito Ihaka - Library top-up.
'Who he?', & would have said until 2 days ago:

    I'll be reading others.
Some wonderful writing and language, not just the enhancement of a known country view, non-stock character original. Plotting exemplary.

    5. & decided to cold turkey on painkillers last night, so awake often. Fortunately. Sixth sense 'get up' around 4 bells. Straight outside just as hail, big drops, thunder, lightning began. Increased in size and intensity with every step. Laundry saved. just. Dry enough.

    dfv - 2 mentions today:-)
Thought of you again in emporium. The Mug is featured stock and re:gin tanker reversing from Abode of the 3rd Age, surely by then running on empty? :-)

Haggis, The Dog - well done on not budging:-) 'Cos? 'Couldn't - stuffed'?, or 'Wouldn't - wait 'til She goes and I can snaffle The Rest'?
    Happy Days.

Raffles - what have you done to the yellow thing remote? Crazy weather here - as befits Church Fête demain - the same every year.
    ########
    Extra pleasure heads-up.
    6. Gloomsbury is back:T:

    Oh, and other, so-

    7. Madame Merle is nest-sitting at kitchen window in trance-like state, yellow beak skyward.
