5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1. DS2 came home yesterday and was very chatty - He is only home for a couple of days before going back to uni for a week - mainly to party I think.
2. A soon to be junor doctor observed my clinic today. She was interested and asked relavant questions and wanted to learn. She will be an asset to the medical profession.
3. Chat with a couple of collegues who are also more relaxed now.
4. Lovely tea of chicken wrapped in bacon with potato wedges and roasted veg. Easy to do and tasty.
5. Driving back from picking DS2 up a different way due to traffic and saw deer in the fields, trees loking great and wild flowers in the fields. I must try and drive that way more often as it takes me past a church which only has a service once a year. It's open daily to go in and has such a tranquil atmosphere.0 -
Evening all and hurrah for Friday .
Work....an extra $50 commission for yesterdays madness and 2 weeks laundry money paid
Went to bank after work and banked 2 nice cheques
Went to Medicare to pay in a cheque. Slightly peed of with Australian bureaucracy. Rebate is usually paid directly in to our bank account, this cheque was made payable to DD2 from her ortho review a few weeks ago.
Last time this was dealt with with no issue, today I was almost interrogated ! Anyway....it will be in our account by Monday.
More bureaucracy yesterday and really such a pain in the backside . OH was discharged on Monday with enough meds for 3 days , I had handed dishcharge letter into GP surgery on Tuesday with the request that GP issue a repeat prescription without OH having to come out when he's not really fit to. GP off sick on Weds and then went home early without having done this yesterday, so another GP was asked if she would do this....she charged us $67.50 to sign her name 3 times! I reckon the other doctor wouldn't have charged. The receptionist was so apologetic as it hadn't been mentioned at all , hardly her fault but such a pain as well as a blooming expense. Then still had to pay for drugs. Which weren't in stock so he had to go without strong stuff this morning. The pharmacist called DD1 this morning and she went up for them. So all good for the weekend at least. It's such a pain in the backside!
And.....the district nurse asked that hospital provided 3 days worth of dressings. They will come in for one week....free of charge, if he requires further care ( which he won't ) we will be charged each visit, this is between $30-85 dependent on income! Anyway.....came home from work yesterday having requested that nurse comes in after 2pm each day ( 12.50pm yesterday and 1.30pm today ) so I was here when she called.
So three days worth of dressings used up she told OH....we have to provide the rest! Cue me, at 8pm last night trying to find a suitable type of dressing at the pharmacy! So , just a bit more !!!!ed off with this!
Anyway, I think today has been a bit better for OH, yesterday wasn't so good.
I had a nice time at hairdressers and short hair again....it was starting to get a bit out of hand !
Right moans and groans over...special delivery of Percy pigs from friend from home came today
Happy Friday...I'm off out to walk dog and pick up DD1 at work.0 -
1) DD,DSIL and Zebra child coming this evening for the weekend.
2) DD1 texted to say she was on the way to Salzburg to visit Mozarts house and hopefully visit Hotel Sacher for Sachertorte, I admit I'd be happier if the cake was being eaten by me but, I'm happy she's going to eat it!
3) Hound leaving his nose alone, still watching him like a hawk but he's being good!
4) Got back from the village shop just before the heavens opened and the deluge began.
5) Had a nice cooking session this morning making nice things for us to eat this weekend, yummy!0 -
1. 2 loads of washing on the line
2. Kondo'd clothes meant I found my trousers and top in double quick time instead of mucking about, rummaging in drawers.
3. Porridge for breakfast
4. Used up cupboard staples for lunch
5. Watching some mindless tv AND
5. Not rushing around at work as I don't go back till Monday!Looking ahead0 -
Thanks for the advice DD - I will pay proper attention to my referencing!!! This is the 3rd masters I have done so should be a walk in the park! But it isn't!!! I am also dyslexic so that adds to the fun! My plan is get a draft to my tutor in good time and get it proof read by someone else as I don't spot simple mistakes!!! Feeling a bit better - I have no idea why I was feeling unusually over whelmed - I think the bunny drama just reminded my how stressed I am! I also walked away and left £20 in a cash machine this week!! At least I know this level of stress is short term. So pleasures for
today:
1. Kids back from their dads - i'm sure it won't be a pleasure in a few hours - but for now its lovely to have them home
2. Bunny drama was short lived (I didn't own up to leaving the cage open though!) a few tears but over shadowed by the birthday room make over
3. Cake made and iced. Can't wait to see DD3 face when she cuts it! It has 100's of smarties inside!
4. Its raining - a pleasure because DD3 and her friends will not want to play out so it doesn't matter that I haven't managed to cut the grass
5. Met up with a couple of friends from my old work - nice catch up and reminded my why I moved jobs!0 -

Yeek.
And there was me (not dyslexic) comforting myself with the fact that whatever else I have to face in life, it won't include writing a dissertation anytime soon...
Cake full of smarties sounds brilliant, have seen pics of those. May your weekend be productive.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Yep - pleasure of having kids home has worn off!!! I now have 4 hyper 11 year olds running around after a tummy full of smartie filled cake!!! DS off to cadet camp - just hoping he isn't too hyper!!! ADHD and smarties don't go that well together without sticking him a cadet uniform and letting him loose in a forest with a bunch of equally boisterous kids!!0
-
Mhagster Himself home - well done *All*! Big hugs for just keeping on facing down the hassle.
VJsmum - travel safe - how could we envy you All That Travel when it comes with All That Marking?!
judi - tablet is blinking hard work. (so worth it, but Not on demand - Earned!) Cooperate with batch-cooking lasagne though, maybe? Smartie fuelled younglings? Eeep!
kittikins - another staycation, but with a stunning (and cunningly dicounted) present to delight the hostess' heart?! Well done!
OS Pleasures recently
One perk of hotdesking? You get to see other folk's photo galleries, & possibly priorities. Two handsome chickens vie with repeated shots of dogs, and a cute girl child is in the corner nearest the monitor...
Ah technology. 'Reboot it'. 'Try another machine'. 'We'll get back to you...' (Happily it doesn't affect my work but the alert messages spoil my brew!) Fixed at that location, reappeared & fixed Again...
Happy 45th birthday to Barbapapa! Love those cartoons & special affection for black furry offspring - clearly different but still capable & integrated & loved. I wonder if I can get DVDs? Hmmm!
Pleasant chat with gardening neighbour who was much impressed with apparent parsley growth. Had to admit to it being in fact two supermarket plants, fenced with slug pellets, and that all praise should be deferred for a fortnight to see if the plants survived! Both of us loose parsley & basil to local predators so she'll watch to see if the supermarket slug pellets work!
Have suddenly had glimpse into boychick logic - they find my family challenging as you don't have to write thank-you letters to zombies...
Irn Bru on promotion, still wanted as reward for exam prep, so bought Loads...
"A chatter tool". "A wobblechuck". Himself is riffling through the tool websites again....
Oh gods. Just read a glorious description of that funny-bone-in-head-tickled laugh - "laughed into a pretzel" - yes, and it's *worth* the aches next day.
Child heading off to school clutching "traditional family weapon" (a brick in a bag) - taking a lump of wood to school toolkit (we hope they have a hollow chisel morticer) as well as usual books, food, coat etc
"I love my hair - it's my second favourite organ!" Which of course leads to speculation that probably does not belong at the breakfast table. (<stage whisper> "It's my pinky toe, mum.") Oh. Of course, as if that puts the brakes on the speculation... Boy chicks are Strange.
"Like a spaniel shown a card trick" - love radio for conveying bemusement!
Can it be elder flower blossom tufting ? Phone snaps taken for online research... [Still bemused]
I missed the leaving speech & some of the presents yesterday, but have repurposed some of the decorations for taking to the pub today. Should be a good do as she's much loved. [Good times!]
Ye Gods - I heard the flutterings about the Cannes dress code (heels or Hell, I think) & now I see trainers in high vis colours... Truly I do not understand What Clothes Say!
Big hugs to all who need them, proper meals & indulgent baths & real sleep likewise and hoping Happy Bank Holiday Weekend and Half Term as applicable!0 -
1. It’s Friday, I’m home all is grand.
2. Rummaging in the freezer produces cheap sausages to turn into a casserole. Thing is I know we are freezer stocking for budget and to use up old stock, but we haven’t had luck with mark downs recently and theres a lot of space in that there freezer now, but that said plenty in there to last us a few more weeks.
3. It’s sun / torrential ran?!?!
4. Trying to convince DH he wants to go for a country walk tomorrow, but he’s not very convinced. Pah!
5. About to make a batch of cupcakes0 -
Pleasures for the last couple of days:
Thursday
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son has gone to Capel Curig with brother in law (the wettest place in Britain!) to do some climbing.
3) Smaller son and I had a lovely day out on the local steam railway.
4) Lunch at the Engine House (halfway).
5) An ice cream and a doughnut at the far end of the line.
6) Tea at mum and dad's.
7) Watched BGT with son.
8) Listened to Mark Steele.
Today
1) A good sleep!
2) Went swimming with smaller son and brother.
3) Brother played tennis with son, between hail storms.
4) Popped to the allotment and had 2 massive strawberries! Brother jealous as his aren't as good. Looking good, if untidy. Did some weeding and picked more rhubarb.
5) Tea from the Thai village travelling van! Pad Prik Hwan plus fried rice.
6) Got stuck into my new book. I never buy books new but had to get Sheila Kitzinger's autobiography.
7) Been watching HIGNFY and going to go to bed soon and catch up on the radio.0
