Mchags: Glad you have a couple of days at least work free coming up.
1.Made and took in lunch, that’s the plan for the whole of this next month as well, and also pre paid the extortion of the train fare for a week effectively getting one day free by doing so.:money:
2.What I would call my first day of “proper” work as I tried to get through bits, new technology to learn everywhere and fast.
3.The animals greeted me, nice to feel missed.:o
4.I made spag bol with hm garlic bread for dinner.:) it was supposed to be chilli but I forgot mid way through cooking mince :rotfl:
5.Meal planned for the weekend and next week as the budget is literally non existent.:( but we will muddle through as earning now..
6. It’s the weekend and it feels like it.:T0 -
Enjoyed the fresh air in the garden while chatting to a neighbour
Brought in a load of line dried washing.
Had long phone conversation with my brother
Had a big spoonful of honey to ease my sore throat - and it's working so far!Looking ahead0 -
Good evening everyone :hello:
Mhags - delighted that your DH is sitting up. As you say, every recovery has to start somewhere and sitting up is a pleasure!
Not overly keen on this new forum look. I can't find how to get my saved/subscribed threads.Given time, I'm sure it'll become apparent but for now it's very tricky.
So, pleasures for today and yesterday:
1) Spoke to my mum and a friend yesterday. Great to catch up with them both.
2) DH cooked supper last night - stir fry, and I cooked this evening - sausages!
3) Attended a Zumba class at the sports centre. Classes come as part of the package, so I thought I'd give it a go. Amazingly, I managed to keep up with most of it. :j
4) Now, call me sad (ok VERY sad!), but I was wondering why my knicker drawer was so full. I've discovered a good way of folding them to save space (as opposed to just throwing them in to the drawer) via YouTube. If you are equally as sad as I am, then you can find it here.. Yep, like I say, VERY sad but relatively quick.
5) Mountain of washing is currently drying. Only problem is that this means Sunday will be spent with a mountain of ironing. No pleasure in that.
6) Spoke to my Canadian cousin. Told her all about Poldark and the delight that is Aiden Turner. Having sent her a photo, she could understand the attraction!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Well done, MrMHags!
Work continues. Actually cried AT work today, rather than afterwards. OK, it was 2 tears and a sniff, but I did have to find some big shrubs to hide in. I have spent this evening planning a speech for the next staff meeting but know I won't say anything. I have had 7 timetables since starting (with minor changes to those 7 too). This week has been ridiculous - turning up to classes with no SEN children in that need help so sitting next to random children then the teacher at the end of the class saying "Erm - who are you?" or asking whether I am supposed to be there to the point where I've been getting my timetable out to prove it.
A class was taken by another TA yesterday and she asked why I was there. Not only had I never been in that class before, I had never been in that ROOM before - and I actually went to the high school as a student!!! This morning I went to Science and was actually turfed out (politely) as they didn't need me in there and basically wandered the grounds (stopping to cry) before asking a maths teacher if I could go in there. The same TA was in there again too so asked me who I normally support. The answer is no one. Or rather, about 10 different children, randomly and occasionally.
Lunchtime duty to watch another child who decided to go to a club. So I sat within sight of him but again, no idea if I was supposed to sit with him, join in, walk off...
And I have blown a hole in my car exhaust.
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Sunny day.
3) Smaller son's pre-op appointment letter came - 23rd September! So ridiculous that I got on the phone about it and am waiting to hear back from the surgeon's secretary. All they did last time was take his blood pressure so they can jolly well get a GP to do that. (It's also an 80 mile round trip to that hospital). He was supposed to be getting this appointment within days, with the op within weeks.
4) Bigger son went role playing with my brother and brother in law.
5) Smaller son and I had fish and chips for tea.
6) Cleaned the kitchen and tidied out the food cupboard.
7) Enjoyed Have I Got News For You.
8) About to listen to the News Quiz.0 -
1. Ridiculous meeting at work about restructure. I have been through several restructures in my time, so i know just how pointless the consultation meetings are. Hmm, so what is the pleasure - having a joke with colleagues, i guess
so working backwards
1) a fab ceilidh which happened to be just down the road hooray. met someone i haven't seen for ages. she said i looked 20 years younger
2) i danced lots of dances. and some with a man  so nice not to take the male role cos husband doesn't like being the male (oh lore talk of the devil, she's just rolled up)
3) we had stovies. and the band were fab.
4) the conference was good too. gave my paper at 4, conference finished at 5:30, nipped over to library to finish talks for poland (phew), just caught the 7:15 bus home, walked dogs, changed into long dress, decided not suitable for dancing in, borrowed xoh's very nice beaded dress and ds's charlie, sorted
5) morning started with invigilating. yawn. anything mse os? hmm challenging, yet i guess doing one's duty is kinda mse os.

Marmite I also worked as a nurse in ENT when I first qualified many moons ago....so it's all very familiar for me too...which is a good thing I think!
A blessing in disguise maybe,otherwise it's all a bit of a shock.
I hope that your DH is getting some more sleep now.
Happy Saturday all.0 -
It's Saturday evening and I'm not long in from visiting OH with DD2.
It's cold and dark after an actually pleasant day...first time we've seen a blue sky all week!
Awake at 4am but stayed in bed until 5am and then up for work.
Work was busy and mainly fine until the last minute when I'd hoped to have left and someone ordered food that i had to cook ( kitchens open till 2pm) so I missed the train id hoped to catch and had to wait another 20mins , I know it's not really that long but I was very disappointed and a tad upset!
Laundry cash paid
DD2 had to get off the train I'd hope to catch and wait for me , we got train in to city together, then tram and then in to see OH.
He was tired, he was sore, he was grumpy. I was upset that he was so frustrated , everything was such an effort. The nurses are all lovely and had a nice chat with them. Didn't stay as long as usual ( although was there a couple of hours) as I wanted to get home before it was too late and poor Haggis would have been crossing his legs!
So tram , train and had to remember to get off at my work train station as I'd driven in this morning.
I need to pick DD1 up at work and then I will be in my Pjs, heating's on and curtains all closed and house is cosy. Looking forward to bed tonight.
Have a good weekend, looking forward to 2 days off0 -
Thank you for the birthday wishes, will post more later. Off for lunch now with friend who has just started radiotherapy for breast cancer, must remember to take Emma Hannigan book (9 x cancer survivor, author of wonderful Maeve Binchy type tales that are ideal light reads). Must also buy cake en-route.
My absence lately: More false dawns for Dr C. but the real one IS on the horizon.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0
