For yesterday:
- a really good swim, despite feeling tired. The pool was pretty quiet too.I wasn't going to go,but,as usual,it always does me good.
- had a salad using up some sad looking carrots and fennel.Had it with cottage cheese and some ground pepper.
- finally got round to making stewed apples (with a dash of cinnamon and no added sugar) - very nice.
- bought more rhubarb,to make stewed rhubarb.Yum.
- decided that I don't want to be running late at night.I need to get out earlyish in the morning, when it's still reasonably cool, which means getting up earlier too.Hopefully I'll be out the door in the next 30 minutes.
mhags thinking of you.Hope you slept well.0 -
Am having a homemade lemon poppy seed muffin with a lovely cup of tea in peace
The weather is cool but nice enough for me to sit outside and relax
Have on my dressing gown freshly laundered and smells lovely, this makes me feel happy
Watered the garden and all of my little rows of seedlings are sprouting up nicely
have no work to do at all today so the day is my oyster0 -
Waves hello from the land of the hospital .
been here for around 4 hours and getting picked up in 2 hours by my friend.
OH was up to sit today, which makes it easier for him to breathe .I sent out my daily email and posted on facebook, lots of positive comments and then my sister sent me a PM saying its a bit early for road to recovery comments....so I just replied that every journey has to start at the beginning! I'm the one who knows what's ahead of us , I know we have a long, long stretch of painstaking progress but the bloody fact that he is sitting up in a chair is just marvellous.
Back to work today after 4 days off, which was just fine.
Quick dash home, hello Haggis, quick change and then traveled into city, read my magazine on the train...it does make the journey pass.
Had a very nice chicken curry from the hospital canteen for my late lunch / dinner.
That's about it for now. Thank you for your kindness and encouraging comments....they're the kind I like!0 -

Pleased Mr Mhags is sitting up and so breathing more easily.
Mhags look after yourself and love and hugs being sent to you and all your family.
1. DS2 feeling better this morning as he had been feverish. He had an exam today so hopefully felt ok during it.
2. Lamb cooking in the slow cooker - smells lovely as I sit here becoming hungry. Just need to cook potatoes and some veg.
3. Cheque arrived in the post - will be needed for car insurance for DS1 and 2.
4. MIL was allowed home yesterday. She had loads of visitors and seemed to be ok. She had been given all the aids she needs I think. She wasn't too happy that carer didn't arrive till 7 to give her her evening meal. I did try and explain its due to the fact that thats the time she arrives home from dialysis and they will come at the same time every day.
5. My last day at work for just over a week and my last day working with boss as she's retiring next Friday. Hopefully the atmosphere will now change and be less fraught. I felt enormous relief as I said goodbye to her and left. It worked well as I left slightly early and I said goodbye in a room full of people during a short break in a meeting so couldn't spend long on farewells.0 -
Just a couple for tonight as extremely sleepy....
1. First day today, it went fine, but I have to admit I found the commute a little tiring but I will get used to it. When I am up to speed I have the ok to work from home occasionally, motivation to get up to speed quickly.
2. Didn’t get back until 7 but had food planned carefully thankfully.
3. Animals happily loopy.
For yesterday
1. A long drive to the outlaws to pick up their cat we said we would pet sit, they also have an Aldi en-route to them, so we did the weekly shop for £14 it was a very careful shop, I was planning what we already had on the way around and using some of the super 6. The cat is now safely ensconced.
2. Cleaned and tidied our bedroom
3. Skipped lunch as we were not hungry and pretty much forgot it. It feels like we have had enough good food to keep going a while at the moment.
4. Last of the leftover food for tonight, it is 2 burgers, fresh salad from Aldi and new pots.
5. Planted 4 aldi geraniums in the front garden to try to deter the gazillion slugs, and planted out a marjoram with the oregano
6. The woodpecker announced loudly it was visiting the food and would I please not move about, while I was hanging more washing out.0 -
Quick pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Smaller son had a good day at school after some upset yesterday. He has trouble with fine motor skills (in that his handwriting is incredibly slow) so has been given a laptop for lessons from this morning onwards! He is so pleased and did 3 long paragraphs in Geography within minutes.
3) Bigger son is now up to date with his homework (this is rare!)
4) I survived another day at work.
5) Niece slept from midnight - 7 for the first time!
6) Just been watching the Island.
Looking forward to going to bed in a minute.0 -
Sitting up on day 2/3 is great Mhags -don't let anyone tell you otherwise!!! Long road it maybe but that is a really important step - not only helps breathing but helps with preventing chest infections, clots etc and also helps bowels etc (sorry TMI) plus the psychological boost of feeling 'less sick' if that makes sense!!!
Pleasures today -
1. Got weighed today - have lost 11 pounds in about 6 weeks - it slow but at least its in the right direction!
2. Wedding couple in work loved the honeymoon suite (family lounge!)
3. Second new manager started today - so full team now!!! and Its great!!!
4. Advisory has been asking advice and is veering towards my viewpoint!!! I knew I would get there!(a little soon to count the battle as won but I will!!!)
5. Baby bunnies in the nest - looks like 3 but don't want to pry as mum might not be too impressed!!! DD3 over the moon!!!0 -
like mr mhags i'm sitting in my chair, but unlike mr mhags i'm suddenly overwhelmed at how i take such a simple act for granted. lots of hugs to the mhags family down under
waves to the newbies, waves to the oldies. been a long day. can i remembre it all?!
1) had good night, up to walk dogs at 7
2) normal lift off so was going to walk in but colleague was headed for bus (he has a 60+ pass) so decided to go in with him and was nice catching up

Judi - well done on the weightloss. I don't think that's slow, I think that's amazing. When i was losing a lb a week last year, i felt like it was some kind of miracle
More good wishes flinging their way down under.
Waves hello to Chella
Pleasures for last 2 days
1. Ridiculous meeting at work about restructure. I have been through several restructures in my time, so i know just how pointless the consultation meetings are. Hmm, so what is the pleasure - having a joke with colleagues, i guess
2. coffee with a friend
3. Kondo'd my recipe books - felt the need to type up around 10 recipes, got rid of around 10 books plus magazine pull out recipes etc. Freed up a bookcase for DS new room
4. Painted said bookcase and wardrobe in Annie SLoan. it's looking good but is still a work in progress
5. Finished all other painting in DS new room - a 7 hour stint today
6. Ladies tap is coming together at last
7 Ordered my outfit for colleagues 80's themed fancy dress party - I am going as a Rubik's cube :rotfl:

8. DS really knuckling down to revision. He really wants to do well, so I hope it pays off. Some subjects are a question of whether he passes or not (or german which is how badly he fails) but some he could get towards higher grades. One of these is PE which is tomorrow.
9. DD applied for a job over the summer - has interview next week.
10. Discovered "Portlandia" on Youtube, very funny
