    Briefly as it's late again...
Get well poorlies, well done Mr mhags for sitting out, excellent weight loss Judi, villagelife I hope life will be less stressed for you now, VJsmum staff meetings and restructuring where there's a lot of talk about some rough plans for the future which are still waiting to be instigated after 3 years. The best thing about them was meeting up with colleagues I seldom saw otherwise

    1. Pulm rehab, 1 hour's intensive exercise. Was jiggered afterwards! But I know it's done me good
    2. Went to pay for the new tyre but they were closed for lunch so had a look in the local cs. Couldn't resist the beaded grey silk John Rocha dress for £5.
    3. Back to garage, they'd made a mistake on the price of the tyre, it was £7 less than quoted so don't feel so bad about buying the dress now
    4. Collected scrip, they've kindly brought the date of next collection forward so I can pick it up before I go.
    5. The rain has created a huge lake outside the house, stopping a meter short of the car. Looks pretty but will have to phone the council in the morning to get the drains cleared. Pity.

    Sweet dreams :)
  • Sit up, straight! And the beat goes on! :heartpuls

Jenny passed her tweaking yesterday! And we are outta SparraLands!

Back later as I am steaming!

    1. Long intrigued by old Labour Party ref. notice, framed in queuing area for occasional nearby jumble sale, investigated - &land being absolutely not LP territory. Have just printed out 'Stone Laying Notice for May 30th, 1931 at 3.30 p.m.' A phone call this morning to follow and more things forthcoming - good, as said Hall is in process of being very illegally gutted, turned into private dwelling, having at some point, immediately post-1997 Labour victory, been morphed into a private members' club, conveniently 'losing' its Village Gift in Perpetuity status. Locals are angry and wondering how to undo this manoeuvre and how it slipped by without anyone knowing 18 years ago. 'Vindictive' is the local word 'and we know who...but it's too late now.'

Money will win, sadly. & will recuperate what is possiible, take into Cambridge hub.

    2. Out came mower. Loads of hay. More runaway rasps. which interrupt mowing. Neighbour's bunnies delirious. Gave every rhubarb clump 5 gallon watering from butts.

    3. Workety-work, dig, pot, chop, tidy, move. Robin parents approve. Babies are big fluffs now - 3 definitely, maybe more, it's such a squash in there.

    4. In for mid-arvo late munch. Hunger took & by surprise. About to take sth outside, sit, book - just as big drops started falling. Then deluge. Didn't let up. Well, at least mowing done just in time - and rain butts offset.

    5. Unexpected invitation, so town lunch today and a Farewell.

Glad that Jenny is hale and hearty ( boom boom)
We need her to share the love!

Hello from hospital, will be getting picked up in half an hour.

    Pleasures:

Up early, had time to phone friend back home and have a tiny moanette!
I know people are well meaning but should perhaps re read their emails before they send them....that is all!

    Train for free.

    Lovely, busy morning at work.
Train into city after work and as its half way home/ half way city it didn't take very long at all. Tram to hospital .

OH very tired today, up to walk with a tall zimmer for a few steps , he is still attached to a plethora of drains and tracheostomy / oxygen so I'm sure he looked a picture with all his 'luggage'

I had a lovely dinner in the canteen , I had onion bhaji and chick pea rice with raita and very nice it was too.

I had a photo sent to me today, one of my friends teaches and she sent me a photo of her class saying prayers for OHs recovery. His photo was on the big screen on the wall it was one taken a few weeks ago when we had afternoon tea for my birthday. It made me cry but tears of happiness at her kindness.

Think that's my lot, looking forward to getting home. Work tomorrow and then some more days off :)

    Have a fabulous Friday :)

Yesterday was a quiet day for me.

    -I went for a run.

-did lots of stretches.Thankfully not achey this morning.

-I had a nice big salad for lunch.

    - watched, and enjoyed two films that I'd recorded off the telly.

-went to bed at a reasonable hour.

mhags that's great that DH was up and walking, even for a few steps, though obviously with lots and lots of help. It's so important to getting moving early.
I worked as a nurse in ENT for 13 years,so a lot of what you've mentioned post-op resonates with me.
Big hugs to you and DH.

    Happy Friday all. :)

Marmite I also worked as a nurse in ENT when I first qualified many moons ago....so it's all very familiar for me too...which is a good thing I think!
  • Steamed. And cinders. Now for free w8rz T.

And BoPsie, who took a knife to her phone a week back, has a new phone. Unfortunately. It did not fit inn her cover and as BoP, who just got a new cover, had the nouse. The new phone has been acquired by BoP. BoPzis is reduced to cast offs. And the beat goes on :heartpuls

Broomstick - laundry by starlight has a very special magic.
Dundeedoll - have you a recipe for the chickpea & aubergine curry? I have an inadvertent embarassment of chickpeas. Celidh & Poland rightly first!
sparrer - imagining you *sensational* in the beaded silk dress
VJsmum - yes, the waiting is agonising so hurrah the palaver has *started*
Frith - your news delights me, as it reassures me my lads aren't that odd, just *boys*.
BoP - the new interface Can be outmanoeuvered & should be.
ampersand - glad to hear you enjoying a Cornetto or two & oh my, keys again?!
Purple kitten - hurrah for start of brave new world
mhags - sat up & even moving - oh you *wonderful* family! You know the route so enjoy these blimming good bits. Virtual cakes, things with feta & hours of games with Haggis.

    OS Pleasures recently
Colleague has passed all her online tests, despite needing official help as the "accessible" tests weren't. We're delighted for her - stubbornness is too rarely rewarded here!

Researched nice biros (wallowed in nostalgia over various Parker models), then consulted The Candidate, who in an unexpected outbreak of MS conduct, declared himself quite happy with the usual disposables!

Beginning to learn to use the computer mouse in my "wrong" hand, to delay fuss over carpal tunnel. Oddly satisfying to achieve things that ordinarily just happen.

Tried to help son with maths homework yesterday. Humbling to realise I've learned-it-for-exams only & although online tuition splendid, he's going to ask his teacher. The pleasure? That he asked me to help!

First GCSE exam of the family sat. He's survived & seems splendidly untraumatised. My fingernails are chomped to the quick but he's contemplating the diary with impressive serenity.

Three ducks on the river. No idea whether they're just noodling around or debating the meaning of life, but they look restful.

I like jute totes, but have just been a bit surprised to see one assertively tagged Manchester Law School.... Proper shopping volume, not bottle carrier.

Drove past an empty 3 tier sheep shifter & crooned at the "ewe food" sacks.

Dried mango - must have dehydrated it a bit fast as it's not leathery but hard & then small bits lodge (flavoursome, just unexpected) in back teeth.

Delighted to catch up with the cleaner - she was hospitalised with pneumonia at the same time as father-in-law, so very glad to see her back & well & cheerful & thorough!

Listening to Dinah Washington, "Bewitched, bothered and bewildered". Darn but she is good. Makes me want to muscle up to sing jazz standards again (& not just in the shower!)

Chortling over school technique for getting their teenaged candidates in on time - 'breakfast sessions' with sausage sandwiches. It worked. (The 'Pizza sessions' for controlled last-minute revision have been very popular, even though tenagers can devour an awful lot & Mine Did.)

Being taught *some* of the keys to the Scout Hut. Another lesson next week - I'm Leader In Charge for a fortnight in July & I don't want to make too many mistakes!

Outside a primary school there's a length of verge just glorious with tulips - all colours, solid & splodged, roughly of a height and quite incredible.

Ah, Friday breakfasts! Almost wherever I look I can see cups steaming, smell bacon, see the smiles both anticipatory and replete. Man does not work for bread alone!

Just seen an M&S bag for life with a vast glowing fried egg on one side. Both a splendid food photo & I can almost taste it! Must drop in & add a couple to my Christmas packaging stash...

Scheming to get the Daily Mail & Lego in the coming days! I do love a Christmas stocking that rustles promisingly. (Yes, it is still 7 months to go. However, Lego.)

Big hugs to all who need them, treble bonus points for all families who can put their hands on pens pencils erasers pencil sharpeners and the maths tackle without strong language, and thank you Raffles for the Yellow Stuff - things are growing gloriously!
  • MHAGS well done Mr.M for coming so far in such a short time and well done You for being there and dealing with all of it, long may recovery be made day by day, until it's complete!

Been AWOL all week looking after poorly grandson so todays 5 start with

    1) Poorly Zebra child is less poorly today and nappies have returned to normal (TMI I know!)

    2) A lovely nights sleep in my own bed

    3) A blissful cuppa in bed when I woke up, heavenly.

    4) The first of the little gem lettuce picked from the polytunnel and enjoyed for lunch.

    5) Off in a few minutes for a lovely long walk with the Dockling along with Charlie the retriever and his mum, and it's NOT raining!!!
