Sorry that the turgids and politicking at work have not eased after all, dd.
Nothing worse than 'an atmosphere'. Such a relief that you know - and have the 'all-clear' from Them. Horrid for you.

1-5. Will just say that yesterday's done. Included pancakes. Left mix[inc.2 double-yolkers!]and glutens to slacken. Made many, +2 'they're still warm' distributions, post-funeral.

Time to shove today into gear....no choc, no dairy, no breads for the next 40.

    Forward everyone...

  • Form is temporary, skill is permanent!

Yous gotter it DfV. As I has muted throughout this tripe, to keep off foamed drinks, and ask yourself why is lager served cold!

It is so you canna taste the chemicals.

Same with brewing curry and stews on the stove, like cheese. Did they in Stilton keep the cheese in a fridge years ago, no! Our cheese is kept in the dish, no where near the fridge. And if you buy the cheese that goes all murky when outside the fridge, sorry but, BoP says that is the wrong cheese. Besides, lager is kept under a blanket of Nitrogen, to preserve it. Same as the pre crapped vegetable or salad. Tasteless and wasteless! Rite, that is the food sorted!

Next. Come on gal, Chin up, chest out, click, heels and SYL! Got it old Hatter? Thinks why BoPsie, sometimes fills the car, especially when wrong sided at pump and there is a queue of numpties! Effect, perfect!

    Enuff of the nonsesense!

5 Cannot believe it, while tossing off last evening, Bop's wrist was ineffective! I mean, two double back flips, and same side downed, not once, not twice, but the thirst three pancakes! But, form came back and the batter was soon thrown into a fl;ip and a splash back into the pan. With fresh lemon, at more than half the price of the plasticised chemical version, served with fresh oranges, jelly and ice cream. Yummed down, and plates licked by Raffles.

4 And believe me, this year the cake of Christmas, see BoP notes passim, has not maid lent. Gone, crumbs only left! That leaves the pudding, half gone and the supreme Jam sponge of Sunday past!

3 Last nite was out at the Clud Camera in other town, completion night. Boo gar, we lost. But the winners really are everyone who took a photograph!

2 Nite, is nite inn with BoPsie.

1 A time to renew, a dynamism to our instinctual consciousness to enlighten in every way.

You've eared the BoP, now let's hear yopu!

Purple kitten - hoping menace of a day now thoroughly over? Replacing floorboards? (They burn gloriously, but getting to that point is tricksy.)
villagelife - all the best with willow - I've found lengths shoved in mud root unexpectedly fast & well! Laughs & eggs & cake-futures - good things. Bought flowers - well done that DH.
mhagster - attagal glinting in gladrags & hurrah to be able to talk to someone who absolutely understands the ground you walk on. Bet you wouldn't write "scary bottom of fridge soup" on your menu?!
CCP - splashing through puddles should *not* be a children-only pleasure. Sorry the emails were so big that pasta boiled dry!
Giddynmg - an understanding boss is worth their weight in rubies. You are giving up tea for Lent?! Pitta pizza, now there's a thought.
DundeeDoll - ah, "safe places" - after a while the unexpected becomes almost as fun. 'the statue of liabilities'- love it! All the best with work.
judi - very special pleasure! Hurrah one cake still sources cupcakes for DD2 & both rightly met with glee.
ampersand - She will be remembered. All love & strength in the coming hours & days. "no choc, no dairy, no breads" sounds daunting challenging.
Frith - that's what to do with rather a lot of officially out of date seeds, eh? Hm, I foresee the carpark will be remarkable for a while. That amythest paint looks glorious!
sparrer - DS keen to maintain face wherever fate permits. Fabric bags will be gifts - rest-of-family birthday season is April... Gosh what a ys haul, and leaving some is absolutely right.
Rainy-Days - breeze & sunshine - line drying season open!
BoP - cake of Christmas finally gone? Must presume really good cooking as standard makes self discipline easier.

    OS Pleasures recently
Ah. The first Monday of half term is a bad time to find the Hoover doesn't work. Still, the lads were startled at what I managed to achieve (& will expect them to maintain) with a mere brush!

One birthday present sorted. A bandsaw (one box, delivered to the kerbside only) of industrial heft has been delivered, assembled, tested & nicknamed The Beast. Joint ownership & strict supervision as the saw on its stand is almost as tall as I am & far better equipped to take off an arm.

I though I'd inventoried the seeds (some pretty out of date, but how much might that matter?) & Himself reminded me of two sacks of spelt & barley & the Scottish research squad's little packet of ancient wheat. However did I forget the gleaned spelt?

Chuckling over seed names - black velvet & saucy rascal just among the nasturtiums!

Relocated a shelf type thing from son's room & now appreciating just how flimsy it looks, laden & swaying rather. Hmm. What a lot of floorspace reappears with vertical storage!

The order of service for a funeral can be glum reading, but this family were well prepared both with explanations for the various readings and, as per the deceased's clearly expressed wishes, with "Lots of cake"... I sensed the Baptist Church bakers had given their work much love & thought both throughout his life & now as it was celebrated.

Home made pizza - on a real bread base & squishily delicious with onions and tomatoes (pur!ed, mushed & sliced) as well as cheese & pepperoni. An Italian would faint but the lads are quiet & happy.

Mentally winded by reading Ruskin on drawing. Seemingly we should "attempt to draw the interesting things we see, irrespective of whether we happen to have any talent for doing so." Cameras would be therefore cheating. I do sort of see his point but living it would be a challenge. Ah. Lent.

I get to park within the pale every few months, but I'm offsite tomorrow & the colleague I've given the slot to is delighted. Little gifts can bring big pleasure.

Big hugs to all who need them, faith as per &'s first link to all who need a prop as Lent takes hold & it may be time to get the washing line sorted for another year!

DFV - great post as usual. homemade pizza aways delicious.
It always amazes me how someone dreams up names for flowers or veg varieties.
  • I'm doing 'Project redecorate flat with stuff I already own plus £100'. Completely did out kitchen today, reorganised and scrubbed everything, put up pictures and a cool clock I had hidden away in the study.

Also redid lighting in the living room and found some empty ikea frames, framed cards I'd saved from friends and rearranged all the pictures in the rest of the house, so it all flows better. Swapped bedlinen and throws in main bedroom to change colour scheme (thank god for white walls!) and put some matching framed prints in there.

    Total spend so far - £0 :)

Tomorrow, going to buy some plants, few kitchen bits and maybe a new kitchen table I've got my eye on in IKEA (£40).

Then I'm going to clear out the wardrobes and charity shop the lot. Also donate the old kitchen table to my local furniture recycling charity and give my old coffee table away to a mate. Then I'm going to sit on my backside drinking coffee :):)

Had some bad news today - my sister has been suffering from severe vertigo for the past few weeks (which her useless GP practice has done nothing to alleviate until she has had an MRI scan, for which there was a 6 week wait ), had an attack today, fell and broke her arm in three places. :( Apparently she enjoyed her ride in an ambulance, though, which seems to me like a strong contender for this thread!

Anyway, some pleasures despite the bad news:

    1) Left home late this morning ("I must be able to finish this chapter before I have to go to work" - no, I couldn't :o) but, as it's half term, I managed to find a space in the car park nearest my office.

    2) NSD, for the first time in longer than I care to think. :o

    3) Kind colleague lent me a phone charger as I'd left mine at home and my phone was buzzing hungrily at me.

    4) Finally finished a challenge in a team game I play online, without spending any money which I was getting tempted to do as I was getting so frustrated with it.

    5) One of my favourite pretending-to-be-healthy dinners tonight: refried bean burritos. It always has at least three portions of veg, but any pretence of healthiness is somewhat ruined by the amount of cheese that goes in with them! :o

CCP ... Sorry the emails were so big that pasta boiled dry!

Don't worry, the pasta was fine. It was just the pan that boiled dry - I hadn't even got round to adding the pasta! :o

RTLL - your redecoration sounds fantastic. :)
Back after a very long break!
  • So tired so will quickly list my 5 then it's off to bed.

1 - Finding out that OH is getting Friday off so will be home tomorrow night!
2 - Sitting on my lunch doing a crossword.
3 - Catch up with a friend after work.
4 - Did day 1 of the 30 day shred today, not the greatest pleasure at the time but I want to kickstart better fitness.
    5 - Bedtime :)

We all went to the zoo today!!! - ended up pushing friend around in a wheelchair most of the day!!! All I can say is I'm exhausted!!! and ache in every place!!! but fun had by all and even some yellow stuff to keep us going (all be it a little chilly!!!) Lots of zoo babies to see and kids mostly behaved well!
Serves me right for publicising my cake baking on book of faces!!! Reverend mother now requested a special cake for Church on Mothers day! No pressure!!!!

Loved the decorating - can you send some decorating vibes my way please RTLL - you are doing great will no money spent either!!!

So today my OS pleasures include:

    1. A great day out with friends and family - wheelchair reminded me of how lucky I am to be pushing it not sitting in it!!!
    2. Came home to a lovely card containing kind and thoughtful words- which is still making me smile every time I think about it!
    3. Cheap and very delicious breakfast at home instead of going out and enough left overs for tomorrow!!!
    4. My kids and I have discovered the ability to find a song for every moment - much to my friends amusement when we burst into song at the drop of a hat!!!! Signature tune for the day was 'let her go' think icy Disney film - in the context of wheeling a wheelchair down multiple slopes at the zoo!!!
    5. Not a lot planned for tomorrow - so looking forward to doing not a lot!!!

    1. Started to tidy the garden this morning, removed all floppy winter bedding
    2. Friends here for lunch
    3. Helped out at a children's drama afternoon, more comedy than drama which was excellent fun and we laughed til we cried :D
    4. Meeting with friends this evening
    5. Just managed to catch one of my favourite vases before it fell to the floor when I chased one of the mogs off the kitchen table. A pointless exercise, he spends every second that I'm not looking sleeping there

    Sweet dreams :)
