DFV: A lovely post.
Vjsmum: I saw that val day card idea as well so dug out last years lol, dh didn’t even notice… Wonder if he will notice next year,
A menace of a day everything I touched broke or burnt, the bin is broken, no problem as it gives DH a reason to buy the one he has had his eye on. Went to fill up the kettle from the jug, which broke sending the full load of water everywhere on a cluttered worktop.
1. Much to their disgust washed all the animals, clipped all nails, and put the usual treatment on them.
2. Numerous loads of pet bedding then our bedding etc washing done and dried
3. Steak (RTC from the freezer) and new potato salad, with leftover Chinese.
4. All shelving out of the bedroom, carpet lifted, and floorboards added to tomorrows shopping list. At some point in my life it would be nice to redecorate a room, paint and it’s done, so far it’s a complete rebuild from the previous owners, in fairness we didn’t do it when we originally moved in so it’s overdue.
5. Sunday night job search the method in my madness is that it’s at the top of the pile for Monday, fingers crossed.0 -
DS2 was doing a goodimpression of the chickens scratchig around.
I've planted tomato, aubergine, leek and winter salad seeds and are all in cold frame aswell as some out of date flower seeds found in FIL's greenhouse - he died 3 years ago.
1. Watching England v Italy womens rugby. We went with DH's cousin and husband. The match was good and the tickets were free as we are season ticket holders at Quins.
2. Chinese meal after - more expensive than I would have liked but enjoyable and we were there a long time.
3. Spent some time in the garden planting willow trees that we have growing and cutting the tops off and replanting. They are meant to regrow.
4. Reading my kindle when we got back.
5. Watching a recorded cirque de soleil - amazing some of the things they can do.0 -
Well past bedtime, we are just in from the city and I need to think about sleeping soon as alarm will be going off at 5.30am.
Work was fine.
Just got train....had to run for it though!
Pretty posy of flowers from local florist.
Fabulous dress from salvos , coral colour, lacy top over a lined inner ( if that makes sense) , pair of coral/ orange jeans.(1/2 price)
Bath.
Glad rags on ....new to me dress , which had been washed and dried in the very hot sun.....comfy shoes for walking in and fabulous wedges put on just outside hotel. Met up with one of OHs mates from when he stayed here for work ( before we all moved out) his wife has been through the mill as she's had breast cancer and chemo/ surgery/ more surgery. She was having even more surgery today so they were in the city for that. Nice to catch up with him and maybe nice isn't the right word but good to be able to talk freely and openly about how a cancer diagnosis affects your life/ relationship/ family with someone else who fully understands what you are going through. Nice food too:)
Have a good day0 -
1. DH took cupboards that hold sentimental value but just don’t fit anywhere to a charity project on the corner here, one was his father’s one was my mother’s but they just don’t have anywhere to go here we’ve lived with them and used them 15 years now, time to let them go where they are needed.
2. Went shopping for floorboards and sugar soap, then came home and used them, putting a lot of energy into cleaning down the bedroom walls. DH spent the whole day measuring, sawing and replacing the floorboards, and singing the praises of the lidls multi tool.
3. Tidied up the living room bookcase to 1 row each of dvds, cds and books.
4. Cooked up some cupcakes, just plain sponge but it feels nice to have created.
5. While the oven was on also cooked tonight’s chicken also used the heat of the oven to cook sausages at the same time for tomorrow.
6. Had a call about a job I applied for last night, it sounds really nice I have fingers crossed but still applying for whatever I can.0 -
1) Watching a young boy disregarding adults' weather-related gloom to splash joyously through puddles.
2) Rain stopped just as a group of us were about to go out to a meeting, then rained again while we were inside before stopping again just a few minutes before the meeting ended. Such co-operative clouds are few and far between!
3) A glorious, if slightly spooky, yellow / orange / slate grey sky at the end of the day.
4) Lots of Cadfael books to keep me busy, thanks to the lovely DFV.
5) Pasta bake for dinner, albeit slightly later than planned as I was busy downloading the above books and let the pan of water for the pasta boil dry.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hello all.
1 - Having an understanding boss.
2 - Lots of chat about where I'm from. Doesn't happen as much now but being a Scot in the South of England I do get some questions.
3 - Drinking lots of tea before I give it up for Lent.
4 - Some amazing news from a friend!
5 - Catching up with someone I haven't chatted to for a while.0 -

Busy day in work but now off for 4 days - I would say I am looking forward to the rest but its half term so not sure rest is the
order of the day!!!
My 5 for today:
1. Special message with special offer of a special gift made me feel really special! Thank you
The rest pale into insignificance as 1 has really and truly made my day!!! so might just stop there for today!0 -
I'm about to post, starting with usual 'Just in':-)
This 'just in' follows Church-arranged screening of Les. Mis, which is more than enough for francophile kiwi &.
I see a pm, which I answer.
I want to repeat a link also given here more than several times, simply because ANY tiniest gesture which means that THAT sth might be immediately accessed is NOT to be left out.
So, I go here, to my lauded Celia Lashlie [sod it - I will proudly add, 'countrywoman']and read this:

Hope you are OK, Ampersand.
Dundeedoll - I had forgotten it was pancake day tomorrow! (Well, today).
PK - good luck with the job application.
DfV - my college friend gave me an enormous box of seeds for Christmas, from her local nursery who were having a clear out. She also said she and her daughter (10) found a packet of bean seeds had come open and they poked one in every plant pot they walked past so there will be a lot of gardeners with a solitary and unexpected bean plant this year!
Pleasures for today:
1) A lie in.
2) Went on a bit of a jaunt to a more distant town for its charity shops. There were 6 or 7, all good but nothing for me. I did get a (man size) top for bigger son then was told all men's clothes were 2 for 1 so he has 2 new T shirts now!
3) Rained for hours and hours, finally clearing up at about tea time leaving beautiful skies.
4) Continued jaunt to big shopping centre. 2 posh storage boxes from TKMaxx which will go on top of my wardrobe. On to M and S to spend a bit more from the gift card I got for Christmas - bought a new teapot. On to Laura Ashley as I had been looking through their catalogue. That particular branch is closing down so incredibly attentive staff helping people sort through the remaining stock. I needed some paint to finish off my room and it was 75% off!

5) Many Skype calls from smaller son today so have been able to chat to him and show him where I am.
6) Went swimming with my brother.
7) Brother has made a new damper plate for my bedroom fireplace.
8) Painting! Worked from 7ish to about 10.30pm today. All walls now amethyst but really need another coat. Then just the gloss to go. Determined to get the whole room completely finished before sons come back from their father's (Wednesday lunchtime).
9) Had tea at about 11pm. Cheese and HM chutney sandwich.
10) Going to listen to Just a Minute now. 2 hwb.0
