5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Evening all
I really don't know how I've lost the last 8 days in sheer busy-ness. I need to get back into the five-pleasures mindset again.
So here's a few pleasures for now & may be back later with more when I have time to catch up with everything that's been posted here while I've been gone.
1. Good but exhausting trip to France. Impressed myself with how much my spoken French was coming back to me.
2. I'd worked out how to make my very own porridge pots using washed-up freebie W8rz lidded cups (with the hole in the lid sealed up), measured amount of oats and dried milk, knowing exactly how full to fill with boiling water, plus fresh blueberries. The pots I'd made and took with me travelled well and it meant I had good breakfasts every morning.
3. Coming home to a pretty tidy house.
4. Several very long work-related phone calls today with people I like talking with.
5. Catching up with Broadchurch and Midwives.
Happy evenings,

Scoff you may BoP but I assure you this is not cabbage soup nor does it taste anything like it (I've made that in the past and it was positively _pale_). Besides, it has meat in it
. If you're not keen on the cabbage idea chuck in some kale, watercress, spinach - anything which will give it some iron so it's a well-balanced soup. Try it. I dare you!

mhags jaw drops idd. i am having jaw dropping problems at work but can't divulge as currently being investigated. work being very supportive but even so it's a wee bit stressful
1) remembered to drop off big bag of books at charity table in hospital. used very frayed hessian bag (unmendable, by me anyway) which I then deposited in the bin
2) gbf round for lunch, laughing i felt a bit too much at my total lack of love life  i'm sure i'll laugh about it one day, just not yet...
3) in between printing out whole email trail and highlighting what i felt were relevant bits actually got quite a bit of work done. have 13 signed up for my CPD tomoz - unlucky for them?
4) knowing i'm having a bit of a pants time xoh came picked me up at 6:30 then made me very nice supper.
5) changed into my doggie onesie. it's soooo cosy. have just finished off the rest of the liquorice pandas and about to curl up with my book. the fire is on, the candles lit. gbf is taking me to loves labour lost tomorrow cos his bf is away with work.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Evening everyone.
My pleasures for today.
1 - Back to work after 3 days off. I love the team I work with so it's a pleasure.
2 - Gave away some old props we don't use to a charity shop. They were very grateful and I was pleased they would be put to good use.
3 - A lovely chat with a friend from back in Scotland.
4 - Photo from a friend that really made me smile.
5 - Got to do a tiny bit of crafting at work today and it reminded me how much I enjoy it.0 -
Just in, almost...plus 10mins, let's say.
Well, sliced the excellent rtc seedy batch loaves ex emporium and proceeded to no.1 shed freezer. As I unlatched, big creature scarper noise from behind me, deep in coralux corner. Can't ignore. Someone's in there....investigate early tmrw.
2 sightings of on-the-loose seen by & have been reported here
[a]neighbour's escaped chipmunk
b]big ratty.
I think I can guess, but no.1 shed bait still all present and correct.
On verra.
1. 1st cappuccino of the not-quite-free era now imposed chez w8rs [after fuel elsewhere and good bag of 10 Mr T peppers rtc 8p!] Tasted almost the same:-), for plus six shillings.
2. Submitted meter readings and blimey, another 2 chqs are en route, £200 and £150, with both bills paid and still a healthy surplus awaiting whenever next touch down. V, pleased. Had already dropped the weekly £drip on back of last payback chq a few months ago. & still seems to be overfeeding them.
3. Had switched off hier soir, then suddenly remembered my dose of Engrenages/Spiral waiting on i-player, which I do lurve[and keep saying so]. So WATCHED....BRILLIANT, again:-)
4. Lovely follow-up em from y'days's fridge-freezer freecycler. 'The Beast is plugged in and going perfectly, so far. Nothing seems wrong with the thermostat. As it's my birthday, this is the most perfect and unexpected present as our old one stopped working a week ago and everything we could salvage has been round at Mum's'...:-)))
5. Not sleepy, not worried, after 4 and finally phone to enzed worked. Didn't think Uncle and Aunt would be in at lunchtime, but they were. Dear Lally, 90, had just finished putting out his 3rd load of washing for the day[temp. back up to a gorgeous 34C, +gentle blow]. Aunt meanwhile, 82, was finishing strip down+ re-lube of their new2them $40 Briggs and Stratton classic lawnmower. She'd already done the light rustspot rub-down+respray. Their chap who comes is keen to get going with it:-) Aunt mentions that blvd Uncle is slowing down a bit, quite a bit...but they are still on the go every day. New computers for both mean new classes next week. &'s little b'day sth for cousin's daughter arrived during call - slightly slow, but 'there' is what matters.
Long may they reign.

bop, read 'no zapper in house of bop/sie' with this still fresh in mind from hier:

A good listen.
You'll be entirely smugged up:-), plus que d'habitude....
sparrer - thankyou. That DOES feel good. Trust it can forgive a tiny use-up fridge forage or two...?

Oh dear & not good news about furry intruder!!! I have squirrels in my garage - I can't leave anything in there that might be good nesting material!!! Hope you sort it out soon!
Saprrer your soup sounds lovely! going to try your recipe!
Today has been too many meetings and not enough productivity in work - I hate days like that! and home to poorly DD2 and what appeared to be broken washing machine and dishwasher and lost PE kit! (DS) but managed to find my 5!
1. Used MSE and youtube to dismantle, clean and fix washer and dishwasher!!!
2. Had total comfort food tonight (cashing in on DD2's desire for comfort food!) and had tomato soup and crusty bread for dinner!!! So nice! So Simple!
3. Got meeting with fellow students and university tutor tomorrow - always gives me a mental boost - perfect timing too!
4. DS has been very cuddly tonight (unusual but lovely!!!)
5. Was not completely dark coming out of work at 5.30 and some green shoots (daffs I think) poking through flower beds at work - spring is on its way!!!!!0 -
Evening all! Oooft it's sooooo hot! I am so over this heat come back cooler weather , I miss you.
A decidedly calmer day at work. Did try to call crazy cook but she did not answer! ( I should maybe say she's about 58 ,so not a silly lass)
Out that door at midday, met DD1 for lunch ...with a 20minute wait in the heat for me....told her I was a puddle of puddleness . Had a nice lunch and a good chat. Then we just missed the train and had to sit for another 20 minutes to wait....in the heat!
Not quite a snoozette but lay down for a while.
Going to make chilli for dinner
Haggis dog seems all of a sudden to be a proper Labrador....not a cute pup, or handsome young dog....he's a big dog! He obviously doesn't realise he's a big dog when he wants to sit on your knee for a cuddle...Oooft!
Do have a lovely Wednesday.....just one more shift to go....one more!0 -

BoP - Dilbert & BOFH are the two techie reads I miss! Thank you for sharing! Fingers crossed for interviews. Blast the laptop & all luck with steam PC! Blast the accumulator didn't fully accumulate. Roat buzzard sounds wonderful. BoPsie using Raffles to avoid further drubbing at Crib? Then at the bar so much she may as well get the wobbleades in. Which cheese with marmite & onions? I find day after stew has better flavours, does that work with curry?
villagelife - soup for lunch sounds wonderful.
ampersand - isn't the moon a treat, even if seeing clearly means frost tomorrow. Lovely cardigan with proper buttons - splendid. Chuckling at Poundland headlines too. "Bottle open awhile" best reason to share I've heard yet! AP McCoy just remarkable. Sunshine! Amidst muckspreading, even I can guess how Lonicera fragrantissima caught your attention. Sweetest, eh? Delighted double door f/f has moved to absolutely right new home. "most perfect and unexpected present" - done good. Caving with priest/archaeologist who turned out later to be author on area in 5 languages, philatelist & church historian. There's the chap to get rained in with. Hurrah for the phone & being able to say hullo to family & clearly "carry on" a family trait!
judi - not so much a summary, more sorry I was away so long! Sons pleaded with me not to be a School Governor so have no grounds to grouse now I Scout with them. Hurrah on assignment complete & all strength with next & Dissertation. Snow overrated. No internet? Yikes - we'd come out with digital DTs! Hurrah Tax refund. "Bottom of fridge soup" - the marketing team would faint! children's sweet & sour chicken sounds manageable - must look it up. School trip to London? Lucky DD3! Intelligent use of modern technology to sort both washer & dishwasher - Well done!
VickyA - Jelly Babies to Dubai? Intriguing luggage! Well done setting up Reading Challenge. Dead right to claim your smilies too! For me, I had to leave home before I learned cake was not bought (principled medic parent.) HM soup in a flask - yum!
DundeeDoll - hurrah friend's defended PhD & hear hear to a nice murder. Enormous eggs sounds loads of fun! Sorry to hear independence rant & ah, pupcuddles! Hope Uni solicitor brings calm. Sorting beds for 6'+ folks *is* a challenge. Well done decluttering, especially stinky thing! Spag bol reheats? Must remember that. Well done still having full email trail - should help the work ick go faster where facts are clear.
sparrer - how goes the wedding dress art project? Well done in the water! Hope DB better now? Must nudge family into getting eggs in different box to try this minigreenhouse! Yards of curtains & sunshine. Trimmed & tidied ToppyDog!"Sleep on it" always the right idea for the big stuff. Garden sounding brilliant, rewarding all your hard work!
VJsmum - nearly home, where eggs are not always perfectly bopiled & champagne is rarer. Cold?! Glad you had a masterclass in turbulence from experts & that HK market finds appreciated. Children talking to each other. Googled abra to get a pokemon - tried again & saw boat! Definitely leave 5:2 til sleeping properly. Right to stock up on kerrygold when funds & space permit. (Says she who got a year of soap from the same source for the same reason.) Love fatted cake slaughtered!
Skint yet Again - temporary snow? Baffling! Sorry flexi spent recovering from bad night. Then no heating at work? Definitely more quilt time. Travel insurance really is hairraising... Batch cooking too? Attagal! Switched tariff - well done.
mhagster - hurrah for a pleasant PTA! All strength to you & DD2 with digital hassle & hope work realises that emergencies-only is reasonable. The 18th party sounds lovely & how civilised to include families! Staff falling away like leaves so you have to do their work - very glad you had time off with OH & great film! Echidna googles as utterly cute. Where Ironing Fairy when needed?! Owch school fees. Blimey. Could push cook colleague off a ladder for the tarradiddle. Hope pink taped feet happy? Hang on in there & hug Haggis as he sits rather than sprawls all over you?
missmoneysave - well done Ian-the-dog collecting wood.
Frith - feeding boys is always a challenge. Scrabble?!Well done on all that delicious cooking & bigger son (a) talking (b) sensibly?! Well done! Owch mum on phone. Sensory room at half term sounds great & well done sister staying happy despite every ailment & hourly feeding. Fireplace, bags of splendid food at market & MrN being helpful?! Sons *will* clean if offered fun toys... Didn't Tennant pull a blinder "pursued by a bear"?! (What *can* he do for an encore?)
mandaguin - Spag Bol is definitely hurrah food. Cottage pie with paprika, eh? Yum!
CCP - had to have a bit cut out of your arm? Yowch but all the best with one handed activities (can you eschew a brassiere & laced footwear?) Well done hat-catching & 50% pizza delivered good price, great timing! As guilty pleasures go, Top Gear is pretty innocuous, but I'm surrounded by menfolk. Cadfael on the kindle bliss! - message me for the others if you want?
SquirrelSmall - I think snow by Skype is probably the best way to enjoy it. Gosh the customer service team must be delighted & stunned!
Purple kitten - well done being ruthless getting rid of stuff to redecorate. Some charities collect, which makes it easier still. DARN over job offer scrunch, but dead right to plant seeds of hope. Ice Age 3 a delight & pork roast just yum! 5 doors to create a whole new look - oh gods - with a vengeance. You and yours are all whole skinned, but golly. Hope insurers pay up as quickly as they laughed.
mcculloch - right with you on fed up with bone chilling weather! Deligted to hear Gnephew recovered & that neice can now try to recover herself.
jackyann - welcome & isn't a busy library such a happy place?!
kittikins - where did you retreat that too much prosecco was a great experience? Snow is great, In Moderation!
Rainy-Days - thank you for reminding me that my rattletrap might improve with a wash! Boulmer beach sounds blissful.
Giddynmg - glad to see you! Chat with gran has you giggling? Excellent! Crafting is good for morale - you need to use creative muscles too!
Broomstick - welcome back and well done with porridge pots & remembered French!
greywitch - blighted lurgy with extra laundry - hoping you & DH are recovering. Pace yourself in allotment no matter how much to do. Love mental picture of chicken football!
OS Pleasures recently
"Hurry up! We're watching Furry!" - son meant Fury. Me, I'm just giggling that it's Oxfordshire...
I love it when careful training pays off. Son has just brought me a bowl of soup. Boiling hot, correct spoon, *exactly* what I wanted.
The Aristocats - gosh, how do we forget it's such a classic? (If you must wait to see the consultant, top kick Disney helps!)
Nursing staff praising success so far with healing son & arranging stacked appointments (in so far as NHS can) to help minimise time off school in GCSE year. Told them they were *wonderful*!
Humming the old favourites from Singing in the Rain & finding the most unexpected colleagues have a serious grasp on the lyrics & from the grins, it isn't dementia...
Old Uni pal setting limerick posers - great fun & seemingly splendid for maintaining mental agility. Have slid a few ideas her way - just in case her Muse stalls.
Office colleague has Game of Thrones ringtone - we had a lovely geeky gossipy time out over the in two months imminent new series...
Exchanging grins with an urchin in helmet & hi viz, preparing to do something fiddly to a metal beam. He probably is old enough to work but that grin was raw New Toy!
The blues & greys of early morning lit by moonlight. Glorious, all the more so for a thick jacket.
Youngest bounded down to tell brother spaceships have arrived. Full two minute search of house before "he's away scouting!" penny dropped...
Parents evening - all you might expect preGCSE - with a lot of hope & depressingly little acknowledgement of time off for epileptic fits & skin graft surgery. There remains hope.
Sorting pans. Not quite Kondo but at least the rectangular ones are all in one place for a change!
Toad in the hole with gravy...
Hurrah for carboots & pound shops - I have 4 sorts of nasturtium seed for when the snow melts. Anticipation is one of the bits of gardening I'm good at...
The sliced mango in the dehydrator is shrinking splendidly - largely as I seem to have to taste test every time I go past it. Ooops but yum!
Son opines "It should be socially acceptable to wear a sleeping bag at all times" - the Prom, the tub, & just getting groceries have my imagination reeling....
The bloke who minds the carpark & I are hatching a bit of guerrilla gardening - if the pigeons will stay off the seeds...
Phil Collins song on the radio - flashback decades to exam revision and all that angst. I could try to tell that child it does all pass, but as I recall she wasn't listening much to wiser heads then.
Big hugs to all who need them, health strength courage & patience likewise & hurrah the snow has melted at last!0
