Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas an a peaceful and healthy 2015, hope it makes you lots of lovely memories to look back on.

Hoping the poorlies are feeling better and the wells stay that way!

Thought I'd have a quiet time as my DS's OH doesn't let me do anything but we've been busy since I've got here. It's a lovely family Christmas with young children doing all the traditional things one does with young children, very different to the Christmas's at home now the nearby family has grown up, but of course I love being with them, too.

Have a peaceful night, a super memorable day tomorrow and may you get all you wish for and more

Merry Christmas! Here are my pleasures for Christmas Eve:

    1) An early (ish) morning swim with my brother.

    2) Lunch at sister and brother in law's.

    3) Got stuff done this afternoon.

    4) A mysterious parcel arrived which I shall open in the morning. ;-)

    5) Went to pick smaller son up from his father's as he wanted to go to church (!) and bigger son wanted to go too! Smaller son went to the Christmas Eve service last year; bigger son had never been to a church service before. They were confused by where the Lords Prayer was on the hymn sheet and I had to explain that people know it off by heart. Then bigger son read there would be "The Blessing" and panicked wondering what that would be!

One rather bumptious man who lives locally decided he was Pavarotti and sang amazingly loudly, just a second or so behind the others and the organist (who is my mum).... so sons kept tutting at him and then noticed the children singing behind him had tears of laughter running down their cheeks so we had to not laugh too!

    6) Then had to take sons back to their father's :-( and they will stay there til 3 tomorrow. But my school friend came round for tea. It was her birthday yesterday so I made her favourite tea and got a birthday cake.

    7) We wrapped the stocking fillers whilst watching Skyfall.

    8) Pretty much everything done now. Stockings on the beds waiting for 3pm. I have put the chocolate "coins Santa has dropped" from the front door, through the kitchen, up the stairs to the boys' room and it is now almost impossible to walk anywhere!

    Evening (morning) all :)

Gosh it's late and I don't feel sleepy - had an early evening nap in the chair and that's thrown my body clock out.

    Five pleasures for Wednesday:

    1. DS1 made the Christmas ginger biscuits for his grandparents last night and iced them this morning.

    2. After a real flurry of last minute panic at the shops this morning, DS2 ended up getting a really sweet present for his gf which is very romantic and he wrapped it beautifully too. (Just wish he hadn't left it until Xmas eve to sort out!)

    3. Went round to my parents for lunch and the afternoon. Good food, good chat, good game of scrabble and much appreciation of the biscuits.

    4. Fire lit, tree twinkling, everyone too full from lunch and snacking to want supper which made for an easy evening at home.

    5. Made it to midnight mass at the village church - I hadn't been to a service there before (not my faith) but I was curious to see the building in use. Then I walked home and decorated the tree with little presents (our take on stockings) and watched some stuff on iplayer. Nice end to the day.

    Happy Christmas and sweet dreams,

Have been in long enough after Church for phone to die out [sameoldsameold ho hum] -

    1. ........while speaking to enzed famberley, all having gorgeous 30°, just going through various crimbo puddings and trifles and luxe-y ice-cream confections with gorgeous fresh off tree fruit extras and PROPER thick fresh cream from cows downt'road. etc.etc.etc.etc. after scrumyum spit-roast lamb, hangi pork, flash-roast beef and many chickens and kumera and silver beet and other PROPER veggies:-)))))))))))))))).

    2. Both boxes are still being opened amid general uproar and laughter as innards are allocated or bartered or schemed away from original recipients, which I could hear.

    3. Beloved Uncle, 90, in cracking form, having driven round to cousin's for lunch, and promising to refill glass promptly and imbibe with moi in mind.

    4. Final deliveries done after great crib Service at 15h nearby, with 4-hoofer Star starring as donkey and going round ancient Church, word perfect:-) Fabulous dark, stocky little Shetland with what would be donkey's cross on back, instead in white under forelock and down nose - Mother Nature's own work.

    5. Hamper looks great! - esp. in a beautifully made big wooden trug which is très Chelsea Garden Show. Thankyou hugs all round included &'s GP, coincidentally in for crimbo veg.

    6. SANTA'S SLEIGH SPED ACROSS A STUNNING SKY, NEW SLIVER MOON AND EAR-STUD DIAMONDS FOR STARS, SUPER-BLING BEAUTIFUL.

    Frith - your 4. - wait for sons? [It's not a question:-)]
Re: Church singing, yes! Another lady and I did the descants tonight as it was obvious organist R was playing for this in 'O Come All Ye Faithful!' The sung Communion responses catch out some crimbo-only attendees, but it never matters.
We all make big noise. Chatting after, I hoped for mediaeval carols next year. Talk about Light The Blue Touch Paper! He loves the same Boris Ord stuff that & loves, recounted his life and idiosyncratic 'methods', then rushed back up and played and I sang and it was a fantastic impromptu bit of happy start to Christmas.

Happy Christmas to all my lovely mse friends. Hodie, christus natus est.
Beautiful midnight mass, though my candle always burns down far too quickly. Then home to open the traditional one present before bed, port and gingerbread this year for FC aka Santa. I am now dressed in a scottie onsie, courtesy of the children. The turkey is on, the veggies prepped, the presents unwrapped, table dressed and dd2 munching the first piece of the gingerbread village. Oh and dd2 has a permanent contract at argos whoop whoop. Right, there's some pigs to blanket. Laters xxx

    1. Smell of our dinner cooking in oven.:A

    2. Bowl of homemade soup in fridge for supper, if I'm not too full after dinner.:p

    3. Listening to a carol service with candles lit and room all cosy.

    4. I didn't get my dogs a Christmas present so I gave them a pair of hub's socks to play with. They like them as much as a new toy.:D

    5. I'm wearing a nice dress that I got from a charity shop a couple of years ago so I feel quite smart for once.:rotfl:
