Good evening
Merry Christmas to all.
Pleasures from yesterday
1. A lovely relaxed present opening, everyone was very happy with their gifts.
2. An excellent haul this year for me, all goodies I wanted but didn't ask for received:D
3. A fantastic Christmas dinner, cooked to perfection by my son who at 18 is level 3 trainee chef. He did so well, cooking x mas dinner for 6 people for the first time can be daunting.
4. With ds doing the above, I had a very relaxed day and was able to play with the little 'uns.
5. Mrs Brown's Boys, hilarious!
5 For today.
1.Woke up with the hump and DD3 felt the same way. Pleasure was jumping back into bed for snuggle with her and both having a refreshing nap
2. Counting my blessing after hearing of the loss of a special little boy who fought a brave fight only to lose the battle on x mas eve.:(
3. A full fridge, lots of picky bits, so no one complaining there's nothing to eat
4. Work was peaceful as the shop was closed.
5. Prospect of two nights off and the pleasure of friends round for drinks and games tomorrow.
Hugs all round for those in need xxSIMPLY BE-££577.11:eek:

bagpuss I watched Mrs Browns boys , which I don't normally do but chuckled away at it.
So it's Saturday evening here, been a pleasant day , weather wise ,not too hot.
Very busy at work , well done staff team on coping so well in the biz....I dealt with a complaining customer rather well I thought and then she said ( having been the one who complained) I feel rather uncomfortable discussing this can we just leave it! Okay! Then 2 other sets of customers were very profuse with their praise....in her earshot!
Home and sat in the garden on the new garden chairs I bought OH for Christmas ( adirondack style)
Came in and watched Eastenders! Trying desperately to watch Downton but every 20 seconds is adverts. Went through my collapsed filing system and have sorted out a pile for keeping and a pile for shredding.also recycling calendars and old letters. Had a wee read through and then chucked!
Then had to dash to work as there was a bit of a water leakage problem at work, or rather the building above ours. I'm glad it wasn't us and we managed to shut off the stopcock.
Home to takeaway , with enough for all 5 of us and portions left over to be frozen.
I have written a list of stuff I want to do before this year ends....mainly paperwork related, we have so much bumph from schools/ medical stuff / tax...home and away that all needs sorted out. I also have a list of stuff to do for work in order to be a more effective manager. Counting down the days until I get a chance of autonomy! I do like a list!
May or may not crack open a chocolate pudding tonight.
Have a good day0 -
Morning all
I'm sneaking in an extra pleasure, just found. It's the 2011 TED talk by the puppeteers in charge of creating Joey, the horse, in War Horse.

Just the right length for a sit down break with a cup of tea!

Belated good morning 5OS'ers. Got back from Lancs late afternoon yesterday, sleet/snow following me most of the way but dropped its chase when I crossed the Beds border.
Feeling very grumpy and hard-done-by this morning as my holiday/visits were interrupted by what it seems that everyone else is excited about, horrid, cold, miserable snow. Then I read Bagpuss' #2 of yesterday's post and felt quite humble. I can go back any time, the little boy won't have that privilege.
This new lappy won't let me preview, it puts my posts straight onto the forum page. No big issue but annoying just the same.
Everyone seems to have more plans for the next few days, mine are to sleep this afternoon then go to meet friends this evening. Holiday laundry done, everything tidied and put away, will collect muttley tomorrow, can't wait to have him home again - the cats don't seem to have missed me except at feeding time, of course
Good luck to everyone who braves the sales, I'm keeping well away from the melee. I saw one item at £150 less than the rrp which can be bought for £200 less, not in a sale, so will do my usual shopping around if/when I need something.
Will be making the same NYR as always, not to make any NYR's. I did many moons ago and it lasted about 14 minutes when I dropped a bag of potatoes on my bare feet, the expletives which followed cost me dear so that was the end of that idea!
Happy 27th, stay warm and dry, and enjoy the leftovers0 -
hope all had wonderfull xmas
just oh and me on christmas day lovely roast dinner followed by hm xmas pudd
whole family round on boxing day so made huge buffet and left them too it! son and other half brought round surprise hamper full of nibbles and wine so good time was had by all
avoiding all shops and sales today
went for walk along seawall to blow cobwebs away and clear heads after y.days blow out:D
cold meat mash potatoes salad and pickles for dinner today0 -
No snow here, but turning v.v. cold during last hour.
The usual 'Just in...' needs an extra 15 minutes, as wretched machine wouldn't register any typing, despite being re-started with little lilac plug at back being extracted, re-inserted, as has always been the fix-it fail-safe for this extremely annoying yet-another persistent NotWork in this NotSpot.
Anyway, thought I was writing how enjoyable these OS pleasures are atm and felt v.glad you'd set off sooner, sparrer, hearing all the white stuff tralala this morning. With or w/o permission, ma'am, will also half-inch your NYR, thankyou.
One of the extreme stupidities[well, I heard 2]was r4[yes, you do not misread]i/v with hyper-excited femme who queued from 0200h Boxing Day to buy a half-price handbag.
This was called 'News'.
2ndly, teens i/v'd under Tracy Thorn's guest-editing[who she?]about online rellyships and chat, in context of gender confusion.
All well and good, then answering whether or not any contacts had made it past the virtual, 'Yeah, well, I met x face to face....and it was really surreal'
'NO', screeched &, 'THAT is the only bit that WAS real.'.
There was a 3rd - woman getting French crimbo eve and NY eve meals and terms completely cul au visage. 24/12 is NOT St Sylvestre a.k.a. RÉveillon. Spoke with huge authority of course. No-one corrected her.
I do like Mr Lydon and his pronouncements. Thus did & learn bop and Mr Lydon shared identical disappointment with Rotunda Red Chap last Thursday. r4 redeems itself. Mr Lydon is perfect on ukip too, and r.brand[deliberate lower case for him]

Minus 1. Bargains galore, sensibly not overdone. Big 29p spend topped the emporium prices - loads @ 95% off.
1. &'s own odd crimbo day suited her well. Lovely log fire, rocking chair, beautiful lunch, sunshine, interesting international company, fantastic red and mulled beverages.
2. Coincidence. Mr T for fuel and meet Vicar+husband in fruity aisle. Then meet a neighbour. Introduce them to each other as Vet-y links likely...yes, confirmed. They establish equine care chat happily: & scoots off. Phone rings. It's Young Person! - excellent, so rush back looking for Vic+hus. Can't find. Cross paths with neighbour again. 'Vic+ hus just left'. Let YP know, but promise to follow up/pass contact on...at which point, spot Vic+hus at adjacent check-out. Yes, they'd gone out but come back in, forgot vouchers. And all day's been very like this, before and after.... Phone back YP, but in dead area, won't work.
Well, I certainly made that 'for instance' into a riveting read....:p:p:p
3. Coincidence. Met J and wheelchair P in emporium, 1st met hier over crimbo lunch. More salutary thoughts after Bagpuss's 2. for today.
4. Coincidence. Met A in emporium and after gratis cappuccino-ing world to rights, well - quite a lot of it to our entire mutual satisfaction - we kept bumping into each other, another 7 times, which became silly. Pointed her bargainwards and mse-wards, which is task after this. She said her Bank 'won't let her' change a/c's to opt out of annual 'free' Hols insce @ '£15 per month':eek::eek::eek:. &'s on her case - warn A now, loudly:D.
5. In reverse order - at 0400 - set to finishing some overdue crochet and DID - AND darned in all the ends AND did fringing.

Haven't looked in letterbox for a bit and on way out found sthg & simply cannot accept. Meant ?>Vicar, during 2. I sense who's given this totally out of question gift. Vic didn't / wouldn't answer / deny, but smiled. We both knew. Conundrum, but I've had a thought - starter for Passport Fee for YP???. although & has always promised to save and fund this herself for YP at appropriate juncture....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope everyone's staying warm, feeling content, arriving safely[bop - weren't you heading snow-wards?].
Nice victory, Vicky:T. Tough for us, away demain soir and Hayman injured. Bakkies Botha Captain....hmmmm.
broomstick - it's a cracker, the sock one, isn't it?:-)
excellent on Twitter too
Boxing Day spent at SiL house. No one wanted to go - 1 1/2 hours to Oxford and back, but it was ok. Nice walk round Christchurch meadow, lovely traditional Boxing Day lunch, safe drive back in the snow. Only to find DISASTER not only did I leave my phone b hind, but MiL left her handbag. Goodness knows how we did that.
Upshot was that OH had to go back today by Train to fetch. I could have done without phone but MiL clearly needed her bag. Once again thankful for free rail travel. I visited fave butchers To buy today's tea but was able to rave about Christmas beef.
Went to Paddington - it was far fabber than I imagined, I really got far too involved. My favourite bit was that Matt Lucas hat didn't fall off :rotfl:
Chicken stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon for tea - yum. Others are watching Top Gear, but I am not allowed to due to the degree of heckling :rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Thanks so much for introducing me to TT+ebtg, vjm.
Listening as I tippy-tap and liking lots.
Hello fellow travellers, surreal or otherwise
1) leftovers for breakfast bubble and squeak finishing off sprouts and chestnuts
2) took advantage of being alone in house bar asleep son by going for long walk in the frost with dogs then curling up with the casual vcancy
3) left over salmon for lunch with last of leftover carrots and green beans
4) walked down to pub with dd2 to collect hat she'd given her bf for crimbo. Hat still there hooray. Met friend on way and called in for a cuppa
5) mike mcintyre, steam train jigsaw with dd2 and quite a few more leftovers finished. Ended up cooking / reheating 4 different meals. Very satisfying. and turkey stock now leek and turkey soup.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
