&, I have serious sock envy. Am going to unpack my wool stash tomorrow to see if I have enough wool and needles of the right sort to have a go at (at least) one of the patterns. I am not going to buy any more wool or fabric next year until I have used up what I have already (could be a long time).
Five pleasures for Saturday:
1. In tidying up just before Christmas I unexpectedly discovered our Princess Mary Christmas tin, the one that got sent to the troops in 1914 (like this but empty http://www.iwm.org.uk/history/princess-mary-gift-fund-1914-box-and-contents). No one is sure where ours came from other than that it was amongst my Grandad's things. It definitely wasn't his but it was quite special to rediscover it exactly a century after it was given out. I'd forgotten I had it. I've now found it a new place for it to live where I won't forget it anymore.
2. The shoe glue I'd ordered arrived in the post. The sole on my main pair of shoes has splitso have had a go at fixing it and will leave it for a couple of days to really set. Am determined to keep them going if at all possible.
3. Long phone call with my mum who was being very chatty.
4. Made a vat of celery and potato soup using up veg box surplus. It did supper and I have frozen a load more portions. Tasted fantastic.
5. Sitting typing this with lovely classical guitar music on Classic FM in the background with the tree twinkling and the fire blazing and the lights on low. Such a calm end to the day.
Sweet dreams

A mixture of the past few days.
It was a wonderful lazy Christmas day it was lovely to relax, a wonderful meal, and later we had turkey stuffing and cranberry on fresh bread perfect. Watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and we spoiled each other with requested presents and surprises, and of course treated the animals to the wrapping and gave one of the ferrets a wee tennis ball it’s a small one but he adores them. Lots of candles burning and light twinkling
Sausages in blankets turned into brekkie with bread added., lunch Turkey stuffing and cranberry in a warm ciabatta as out of bread, dinner bubble squeak, chopped sprouts in it, with turkey slices and gravy. Made dad a pureed Christmas dinner frozen for now to take over next we go.
No snow was over here, so we travelled to a family get together, which went well, MIL milestone birthday0 -
Thanks for lovely pleasures x
Saturdays 5
1. Woke up of my own accord and peaceful coffee by myself, till littlies toddled in.
2. Little jaunt round Mr t for friends visit tonight, pleasure being a low spend as I decided to make slow cooked chilli and bolognaise rather than fill trolley with junk and party crap.
3. Took littlies to spend their x mas money, they chose well.
4. Sadly above friend couldn't make it out this evening, so we have postponed till new years eve. The pleasure being my canny decision to cook bolognaise, which was swiftly cooled and portioned up in freezer.
5. After a change to the evening plans, we spent a happy few hours playing board games. KerPlunk a old favourite rediscoveredSIMPLY BE-££577.11:eek:

Yesterday's pleasures:
1. more bubble and squeak to finish off the veg from Thursday
2. Unpacking my new toy from Santa into the kitchen
3. First proper weekly shop for our new house - and thinkr I've almost convinced OH that we need to have some kind of a plan for meals. Looking forward to making a few meals from scratch now kitchen is more or less organised!
4. Curled up on the sofa with OH last night drinking hot chocolate
5. got the house to ourselves again so we can really relax!
Can't believe I'm up so early on a Sunday but hoping I'll have a productive day doing jobs while OH is out with a photography mate. They like to get sunrise shots which at theis time of year is ok...In summer I'll not be impressed if he wakes me up when he's going (I did ask him to today though)NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3

Pleased everyone seemed to have had a good christmas.
Christmas was enjoyable here but seemed very busy. MIL came christmas day and she wasn't as miserable as normal.
I received lots of useful presents for garden which is what is wanted.
The food was good and we have eating leftovers and turkey/ham and salads.
Yesterday we went to watch rugby - we lost but it was an excellent match and very low spend day. Apart from DS2 who went to buy himself a PS4 and games with money from xmas and friends discount!
Today will have to tidy house.0 -
Hello, not sure I've got 5 but shall pop in and say hello,
Work....I've not worked on a Sunday in ages and I was so, so busy ....even busier than yesterday. We all worked well again....my wee star....DD2 came in and helped out and will do so again tomorrow. This is our busiest time of year and we have to make the most of it, provide excellent service and just suck up the hard work! So, I'm cream crackered and it's very hot (31o)
OH and pup came to see me at end of day.....met a 9 week old black lab pup today...made my roaster seem huge!
Not going out after work....saved money, usually we go and grab some very late lunch together but I always end up eating too much and it's money wasting.
Moved flowering sweet peas to my back door steps ...I love sweet peas, they are so pretty.
Little snoozette....surprisingly very restorative.
Just going to phone friend and see what 7 year old got from Santa
Have a good day0 -

A collection:
Pre-Christmas songs at the music club and visits of DD and DGC both pre and post Christmas. All the presents were collected and out and so much clutter has gone.
Old friend for Christmas lunch, which Dr C. helped with and got spot on, redeeming for past errors (deciding oven at 250 deg would brown skin, and incinerating p.i.blankets & super-expensive stuffing balls in process). No such awkward moments this year!!
Time spent with very good friend on her Boxing Day birthday, she appreciative of small gifts and card with meaningful but not sickly verse.
Lots of lovely little and not so little things came my way, books to read from Dr C, a lovely thick knitted jacket with fleece lined hood from DB, scarves, smellies, and choccy.
I was able to tell my cousin in Estonia that the parcels that had cost him such a lot of money to send all arrived in time for Christmas.
Lots of seasonal things that just added pleasures - all the things I normally make eaten and enjoyed.
The fuse bulb going on the £1.79 from 2007 tree lights and oh glory be, I bought the right one to replace them.
Seasonal music, I still play this past Christmas, I have so many CDs now...
Now listening to Jim Moir, aka Vic Reeves, local lad and biker talking about Barry Sheene, it's just dawned on me that he almost certainly knows bikers of our age and a bit older that I know locally. Hmm.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0
