Not sure i've been to wakefield tealady will add it to my list
Awwww puppy time mhags we look forward to news of all the adventures
Well flight home was mercifully uneventful so pleasures for last two days
1) conference day finished at 4:30. Flight 8:20 so time for a lounge by the pool sipping a grapetiser then sit in the foyer with a glass of free wine before shuttle bus to airport at 5:45
2) gorgeous sunset as last memory of south africa
3) very full flight but the only free seat in the plane was next to me :-)
4) managed to watch the end of the film i'd started tuesday morning. Saa switch off their entertainments start of descent :-( the young and prodigious ts spivet. Very good
5) then watched the other woman which was fun then sleeeeeeep
6) breakfast started watching another film but of course missed the last 30 mins again! Blended. Filmed in south africa so seemed an appropriate romcom. I'm guessing they have a fallout then end up together...
7) pleased nearly 2 years after marital breakdown i can watch romcoms again without getting maudlin. Well ok might have a couple of times, but didnt switch off in a mood :-) progress
8) first on plane at heathrow. My goodness how many times did i check the flight number this time! And first off. Felt like royalty :-)
9) xoh picked me up from the airport. Very sweet of her. I think we may be able to do this good friends thing...
10) belated birthday present from mr hamper. I have decided we are just good friends but was nice to get a silly pressie
11) home is where the heart is. Or the bed. Lovely 4 hour sleep till someone cold called me :-( but 4 hours is probs good to recover and set me up for tonight's booze i mean book club. Now gonna catch up on some corrie and wallow in a buubly bath. It's good to travel, but good to get home.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

DD. Love your no 7.
McHags Awwww Puppy happiness
I know its not a pleasure but we just got back from a break and on Tuesday I thought I was sickening for something within hours I’d deteriorated bringing up blood and making no sense dh bundled me into the car, to find the local hospital is no longer a&e, onto the next one they ran tests but don’t seem sure, drugged me up sent me home. Left me with if it’s an ulcer I’ll be back, can’t say I’m impressed. Also I have to admit I am scared at just how sick as in literally unable to stand I became in an hour. On Monday I shall be off to the doctors to try and arrange tests.
1. I’m sitting up today.
2. Chicken soup made by DH
I'm up and on the laptop
I have a renewed vast ompth to de clutter my carp and get organised
One of our animals hasn't left my side during the illness and curls up at my feet when I need to snooze. so gorgeous.0 -
Blimey, PK. :-( Hope you get someone thorough on Monday and hope you are OK until then.
Good news re the washing machine, MHagster.
All sounds very good, DD!
Am actually not very well. :-( Everything aches (including eyes) and have sore throat etc. Also felt a bit sad today that I went to talk to my brother about our mother's behaviour and he just poo pooed everything I said. Nearly cried driving off just because no one is listening to me - I've run out of siblings to tell now.
Apart from that....
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Ordered the new bathroom suite - hoorah!!!
3) Phoned both high schools to sort a few admin bits out.
4) Remembered to put antifreeze in the car. Did check oil and just remembered I didn't get any to fill it up!
5) Went to nearest small town for a grumpy walk around after attempting to talk to brother.
6) On the way home, stopped in a tiny village so I could eat my sandwich. Was really feeling melancholy by that point. Should point out the village is miles from anywhere and just has a church....
....anyway, 2 Americans walked up to my car and said they had gone there by taxi and we doing some research into the husband's family. (The church has some 17th century tomb inside of his ancestor). The taxi driver had told them they could catch a bus into Worcester!!!! Well, I should think the nearest bus stop was 4 miles away and there might be a bus... oooo, twice a day!
So I drove them 4 miles back to the nearest small town! They started talking about their family name and I recognised it as our local pub is called the Blount Arms. Then I remembered smaller son's school was founded in the 1500s by one of the Blounts! So we talked about that and the weather here compared with Florida. :-) They had a terrible job understanding my accent but I had no trouble with theirs. We did have a practice at pronouncing Worcester and Tewksbury. :-D
7) Sons both happy at school. Smaller son came home with a certificate and just got a text from his base teacher saying everything is marvellous. :-) He has no complaints at all and has enjoyed every lesson and found them all interesting (!)
8) Looking forward to the Last Leg.
Heritage Open Days this weekend if anyone fancies a free day out. They're nationwide so I think we'll pop to one or two places. There is also a geocaching meet up on Sunday......0 -
Good evening,
Sparrer, a black coffee in starbux is exactly that, an espresso with water added, only without the milk, and you can ask for it anywhere, any coffee house should be able to give you that.
Ask for a very long espresso, if necessary ask for an espresso and a side cup of hot water and dilute to your taste! If they try to charge you for Americano you just say, no, I want an Espresso Lungo and like to dilute it to my own taste. Normally they won't charge you for extra tap water!
Here's me for today:
1. Lift back from the boys mum after bootcamp. She is happy for DS to cover for me while I go away for a week, so the boys have a "manny" for a couple of days and DS gets a bit of cash.
2. The electrician turned up. Eventually. And even did some work. Thanks God for small mercies!
3. Found 3 really good books to borrow in the library.
4. Freebie tea in w8rose with DH
5. Day 4 sugar and refined carb free, already dropped more than a Kg and the bloat is gone.
Good night. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all
Burger all on the telly, 'cept dust. Started watching Chocolat but have given up. It seems even Mr Depp can't entertain me tonight
DD - glad conference went well - flying visit or what? (pun intended). Sigh, I must return one day.
Mhags - ooh a puppy. You must be stopping then.:D
Kittikins - hope the first week went well. Bet you;re shattered
Ampersand - how much???????
1of3 - great name! I am 1of6You are good, painting with little ones bored the pants off me and was strictly left to the childminder (along with playdough - evil stuff). I got heartily sick of getting all the stuff out, and after about 5 minutes they would say "you finish that mummy, we are going to play" :rotfl:
jue - drying the washing outside is a daily pleasure for me. Nothing beats that smell does it?
Skint - hope you are better
Frith - cherry pie, yum yum? I like son's response re Grandad, sorry, I know it isn't a great situation for you - children are very perceptive aren't they? WHat an interesting trip it must have beeen with the Americans.
Sparrer - good for DGD2 re job. I l;ike it when the "yoof" are proactive in "getting on". Separates the wheat from the chaff, I always think. Hope you have a lovely weekend, you deserve it.
BoP - Hope Jenny is OK and responding to the luminous pills
Caterina - Nice to see someone else going sugar free. It gets easier
Tealady - Ooh, hotel bath, nothing like it :T Hope DD is ok
PK - HOpe you are OK
Pleasures for last few days
1. Graduation yesterday - so nice to see my fledglings get their wings. Colleague and i were just clapping along in neutral (there are a lot of names and our students had all gone through first), when we realised there was a pause and we were still clapping :rotfl:
2. Lunch with friends today. Going to catch up with bestie tomorrow to hear all about her cruise
3. DD hung out washing, did another load and hung that out too
4. OH has gone on a lads holiday to switzerland, he seems to be having a good time. Whilst i like him coming home, it's nice not having to deal with him for a few days
5. All systems go on the PhD front - just got to write the ruddy papers now. Was suggested i upgrade some of my conference papers of the past few years. Excellent suggestion.
6. All is not lost on the "going to Hong Kong" front. Going to have A Conversation about it next week.
Night night all, will check in over the weekend.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
VJsmum thank you for your encouragement. Even before reading your post I had entered my 4th sugar free day as one of my pleasures! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
-
Blimey PK, sending hugs and healing prayers your way xxx
Bon voyage Sparrer x
I've not been to Wakefield either...was it W'field? Like Sparrer, I'm good with phone numbers...
1. NSD
2. Commute was nice both ways.
3. Got home slightly earlier than yesterday, my classroom is still a pigsty but I'll just have to get in earlier on Monday to hoover (!) and put the finishing touches up (i.e. clear away the tut I didn't have time to do today!) before the children arrive at 8:30
4. Have worked out the time to leave for my graduation tomorrow - 7amish (eeek!!) to get the train to uni town, then bus to campus (not my one, but one I don't know at all, grrr). Ceremony at 10, lunch at 1 then home feeling chuffed, hopefully!
5. DD has informed me that tomorrow night will be my movie night choice
6. Fabulous literacy training today - was similar to the way I've been taught and have practiced on placement, so hopefully my mentor will like the fact I can be a bit of a drama queen with a strong grammatical edge when he comes to observe and help!
7. Got to know my co-teacher much better today, we are looking to do our fortnightly planning sessions in a local hostelry whenever possible!
8. Chatted to a lovely old chum on FB, hopefully will meet up with her soon when she comes up this way.
Right, I'd better get to bed, yet another early start in the morning!!0 -
Hello All:hello:
Caterina- I too am trying to eat healthier- never thought to look on it as a pleasure to avoid them-Thank you!
VJsmum-took me ages to think of the name but when I did it seemed such an obvious one! I don't mind doing the painting and play-doh with then. They are at an age where them opening it up and taking out is a novelty.
My pleasures for today are
1. Nice walk at lunch time
2. Playing with LO's
3. A bit of me time!
4. Picked up some YS items
And number 5 which I am going to do now which is catch up with this thread fully!
Hope all had nice safe OS day and you all have a great weekend:jNOT BUYING IT 2018!
Consumerism is.....buying things you don't need with money you don't have to impress people you don't know and probably wouldn't like even if you did know them.0 -
DD
1of3 a cuppa must be one of the very best OS pleasures ever!
Sparrer - My absolute favourite is a steaming hot cup of Tea when it is lashing rain outside and I have nowhere to go:TNOT BUYING IT 2018!
