What a waste
Early birds, can you lot not sleep. Too exciting? Haircuts. Now, Friths Gosh only knows. I appreciate one does not have the oats to say Porage, but treacle sponge. No No No No No No No No No. You see Mumsie BoP would do boiled bacon, parsley sauce, broad has beans and for pudding, treacle sponge. And if you did not eat your greens you got no pudding. I hated broad has beans. We leave the treacle pudding to your own suggestion. Hence, in BoP plaice, no broad beans. In fact, are they still grown. Sorry, but had to make sure there was no misunderstanding on these two non foods. And in other foods, well done char girl. Hot buttered crumpets!
5 On my return from the salt mine yesterday, I was approached by BoPsie. Raffles had again entered the humanoid free zone and bought home his own thirst course. I am afraid, it is not looking good for the local rose tinted brigade, who put on wellies and the like at the pond, disturbing them and paying good money just to see in the unkempt plaice.
4 Did the bucket last eve. If you look on Buck of Face, you see Raffles attempting to drink from the bucket. All for the RAFBF. 74 years since BoB, 15th September. Just chips off old props.
3 Another miff law passed by Europe. Less suck is good for you!
2 And I hear it was another trumped up non elected quasi monotonous event last week in waste, which sucks! Apparently they were on about waste. Now BoPsie tells me every Tuesday, we just manage to put a minuscule amount in the black bag. And it is a black bag round our parish for waste, as it allows the crew to easily and quickly gather up the stuff quickly, as a team walk in front gathering the bags, and the truck just gobbles it up. None of that two at a time road blocking cart in other areas. Now, why ams I ranting. You seem notes passim. BoPsie this week spent £18.90. And even that was when BoP got the expensive curly lettuce as well! You see, all fresh produce, no excessive packaging no waste every week. I need no quasi non event noneboby to tell me what I already do. No why does it suck. Well, vacuum cleaners now have less power. Now as yous lots know, work is effort. So if the work is lots, the effort is little. Now what happens is we reduce the work (watts!), then to do the same as before, we need more effort. Another nonsense from the nonebody brigade. Really, it just sucks. If you twitter Pam Ayres, she hath poeted about it!
1 Less power to the cleaners!0 -
Morning. Supposed to be working, but had a baking morning instead
Off with Wally the trolley in a sec to dump stuff at the chazzer s and fill up with pound shop shampoo
Pleasures for yesterday
1 did a Skype session with a student. My first proper one and it went well
2 fast day, was ok, a little tough at times
3 DS all ready to go to school (we will gloss over the "where's my tie" moment this morning) he just wants to get the year over and done with and get on with his life, I think. Ampersand, sadly he doesnt want to continue the refereeing, which is a shame but I said I wouldn't make him
4 walk with OH, catching the last of the days sun
5 long lost family on TV. I am a sucker for programmes like that
Have a great day,,allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
1. Despite not being able to get to sleep until nearly 5am and then dozing off after the alarm went, DD and I made it to Oxford on time...
2. ...to use our timed tickets for the Tutankhamun exhibition - brilliant
3. Used vouchers to get some money off our picnic ingredients at MrT's.
4. Went to the Story Museum as well, well worth a wander.
5. I've reverbe'd 26p over the past 2 days!0 -
Evening everyone :hello:
Is it the weekend yet?!It's completely manic being back at school. I've tried to impart my pearls of wisdom on our NQT (Newly Qualified Teacher), who is in the neighbouring classroom. She's lovely, but I feel protective...
Not much time to have pleasures, but this is a bonus because at least I'm not spending money!
1) NSD :j :j
2) Came home to find that DH has washed all the shirts! :j He's on holiday this week, doing jobs around the house. I'm hoping that I'll get back tomorrow and find all the shirts have been ironed. I suppose that'll be wishful thinking?
3) Had a meeting with parents after school. Not many turned up, but we had a good discussion about the year ahead.
4) The latest subscription copy of a travel mag has landed on our doorstep today. I love dreaming about all these amazing places. So much to save up for!
5) Flowers from my friend who visited at the weekend look fab!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Home, and back online. Ergle Laundry, but every holiday has its costs.
VickyA - you know you've been away when the Ice Bucket Challenge is a phrase that clearly means Something, but haven't a clue what. And evening dress often does respond rather badly to wet - whatever you choose to wear, let it be easy to remove when heavy, cold & soaking wet... I had a bath on holiday & reverted swiftly back to washing at the sink & the shower when I got home. Delighted your charges appreciate you properly! Picnic at charity polo match & gorgeous rugby players? I must haul the chaps off on more picnics. Ready for the week ahead?! <Awe> And you run? <headshaking over my own inadequacies here> DH has washed shirts?! Fingers crossed for ironing!
BoP - glad to hear expert tossing back in play. Will snaffle an orangeade off small child (why he *loves* the chemical-rich seriously cheap stuff is undoubtedly biochemical, so I should protect him from himself.) Sea Bass? I am definitely shopping in the wrong places. Rats running the salt mine? Not good... Curly lettuce? I'm a tad uncertain of food served with ruffles, but rosettes of cream are (almost) always OK.
Frith - congratulations on your folk music debut! Parents are a heavy responsibility - almost worse than children. I think humour will be essential if you are to get her the help she & the family need. Hurrah for splendid blazer find & also for a silk top! Last Leg lads wonderful. (Must catch up on Dr Who!) Good luck vs Council re buspasses & how you raise your sons is Your Business not your folks' (tho we all think you're doing brilliantly!) Not sure what Tax Credits up to so won't try to defend! Hurrah unexpected salmon!
DundeeDoll - mini eclairs! Why does the good stuff only come out at retirement?! Sounds a brilliant twinning service - what very little I've heard of the Qu'ran was potent, heady & full of love. Somewhat unexpected, TBH. Payrise month!
mhagster - delighted to hear Tall Sons change quilt covers. When mine is fully restored, I shall delegate this chore (despite the utter hilarity my attempts cause.) Hurrah for Queen - smashing music & a great escape from the everyday! Atta girl DD1 taking a posy to an 18th - what a lovely thought! Whoopee, ongoing real fresh lemons - may next door stay as friendly & cooperative! Trees down? Wood to burn? Or just a hazard to car?
ampersand - what little I know of Frame suggests a corker of a character but without research I'd miss references to assorted insitutions. Lad happily just an outpatient so far, but whole family repeatedly gathered with books & waitings. Owch owch owch car - the unexpected is especially expensive drattit. I'm doing OK as whole family is being superb.
sparrer - glad you liked the candle & very well done driving economically. The drive home was fearsome economical as we were so laden I couldn't risk my usual follies. Line drying? Enjoy every item! What a smashing neighbour - lamb bone for doglet sounds glorious. Eeyore jammies? Disney or Shephard?! That vegetable roast sounds downright tempting, but back on high protein diet (after holiday & to help walking wounded put condition on). Mini frying pan - OK even I'm giggling at the possibilities there.
mcculloch - delighted to hear joints easier, along with good reads & good company! You have a specific shade of green wearing chap too? I used to hike around the army surplus places (by phone from work once I wised up) & now happily not only have assorted NATO codes but have expanded Himself's range of acceptable T shirts. (With decades of guile & bribery.)
Skint yet again - thanks for your good wishes - poor coot may need a skin graft which may knock a nasty hole in his GCSE work, but we're trying to focus on the May there! Do us all good to have & use high factor cream for the next couple of years *anyway*. Line dried laundry & home cooking from the freezer - bliss!
Caterina - hurrah for community festival, wholesale wholefood connections & enjoy that Harris tweed style! Sardinia? Tai chi & an almost-there-kitchen!
kittikins - ah relations & plus ones... Happy birthday to your pa & hurrah favourite tutor correctly placing DD in the pantheon of those without whom! Good luck with a triumphant return (Ours not corralled til Mon 8!) Hurrah for a smashing haircut - so good for morale! Where in Oxford is the Tutankhamun exhibition?! (My Rudolph Run may try to take in Tut!)
1of3 - well done getting livestock out into sunlight: has to be good for recovery! A nice walk sounds wonderful too.
house elf - florida & NY! Latter Such an MS place as so much to enjoy Utterly Free!
LynseyLou - welcome! 1937 Austin London Taxi Laundaulette sounds utterly wonderful - may all your wedding & married life be as fun! All that delicious sounding home cooking
may be an excellent start. Lucky chap!
VJsmum - sometimes the rather dubious looking food places actually deliver wonderful food. (Other times, salmonella.) Blackberrying is great if you have the right clothes - I used to use an old biker jacket, (and one year, a life jacket as I was picking along a canal in a canoe!) You've done the "where's my tie" bit - the rest is just putting manners back on them (and I've got 2 uniform tops & sundry shoes to sort but not today, hurrah).
Tealady - so glad you've found somewhere to do you a good Sunday lunch and the washing up! Home made gnocchi & singing as you work? Superb! WHy are you doing this gruesome commute? Hoping love *and* money!
lovefullshelves - tablet, kittens, cake - what's not to love? Very glad to see you back!
Purple kitten - atta gal helping the nice man keep space to freeze meat & delighting him with the idea of bread pudding & no waste. Steam fair sounds a smashing event!
OS Pleasures recently
Ha! No matter what, the memory of bonfire & starlight (& the glow stick stuck upon a tree) will stay & amuse me for a long while!
For an end of holiday eating up of odd leftovers meal, it was surprisingly nice.
Glow sticks are Fun. Especially when the odd green glow unexpectedly mutters something improper as a sibling lobs a startlingly accurate twig over the dividing hedge. The swoopy photos are good too.
"I'm going to get myself a monocle" - child planning what he'll do when he becomes rich, based apparently on Monopoly...
Back home one night, in office next morning but I left a full clean change ready in anticipation. (Pity about the building pass.[Found it!])
Waving a hullo to the tailor - re-establishing our wordless communication. Grins of 'good to see you again!'
Nasturtiums still trying! Showing age & neglect but still flowering!
Being wiped out 5 for 5 at connect 4 by son as we wait. Some of my pride is wounded, more is delighted that we work so well as a family team waiting...
Big hugs to all who need them, good reads & comfortable seats for all who have to sit & wait & here's hoping for a bit more line drying before the leaves fall!0 -
Hooray - a proper post from DforV, all must be right with the world :T
And LFS crept back in when she thought no-one was looking
A quickie before bedtime
1. Baking day - naked raw choc nut thing, apple and cinnamon bars, choc crispy cakes. All sugar free, wheat free. Recipes and photos on blog, which i am trying to keep updated
2. walk into town in the sunshine, managed to finally operate DS cash card and take back some of the money he owes us
3. Bought some berries from market, so had a bowlful with cream. Strawbs rasps and blueberries. I love my diet
4. Sorted out DS draws, after having to clear them looking for tie. Also bought an additional tie for £2 at school uniform shop which is closing down.
5. Had "difficult conversation" with DD about keeping herself safe at uni, if you get my drift. Wasn't that difficult - boiled down to "men lie, don't be cheap, if you get pregnant i am not bringing it up". She is a sensible girl, but hasn't even had a boyfriend yet so i had to "have the talk".
Night allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Loved hearing of the green glow stick antics DFV, and well done nasturtiums which sound a bit like mine, beautiful flowers and straggly stems. Call waterAid!
2/5th the way to the weekendVicky, I can't wait for it to come round either
VJsmum another LLF fan here, shame the current series is over
BoP I wonder if you put a wm on 900 spin twice you'd get the same effect as an 1800? No? Ah well, just a sparrer thought...:o
I. Collected a big bowl of cobnuts from the overhanging tree in the orchard at the bottom of my garden, as soon as I clear them the next lot have fallen! I've already eaten some (too many), I'll grind some down to add to bread dough and give some to DD who also has a bowlful and is going to make a Nutella-like spread.
2. Mr and Mrs Blackbird visited this afternoon, he's getting quite brave lately but she's still too timid to stay if I'm outside unless I'm sitting still, but I don't have a lot of time to do that!
3. Rubbed down the new-to-me bedhead, if it's dry and calm tomorrow I'll take it outside and put the first undercoat on.
4. Photographed all the Chinese statues, temple bells, door hangings, muses etc., in the bedroom ready to sell. Fingers crossed they'll raise some interest, and pennies!
5. Started to tidy some of the kitchen cupboards, having spent time clearing DM's flat made me realise how much I have that I don't use. Hoping that the car booting season isn't over next week as I'm away this weekend, and I have boxes of 'other man's treasure'
Sweet dreams0 -
DfV - my nasturtiums both on the allotment and in my front thin strip of garden look tatty now. Sons spent some time this afternoon picking about 30 caterpillars off and moving them across the road!
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) A trip to the model shop to get the power supply soldered (smaller son wouldn't let me do it!!) and to buy some new carriages.
3) Lunch and a trip round Sainsburys.
4) Went to the allotment and got beetroots and runner beans. I'm not sure I like runner beans any more!
5) Got home and cooked the beetroot. Also did a chilli for tea using yesterday's HM tomato sauce with a tin of cheating beans in chilli sauce.
6) Took some photos of sons in their new uniforms (2 different high schools) and they posed in various odd ways in each shot! Bigger son is still awake thinking about going back. Smaller son is asleep though I note he has reverted to my bed.
7) Got to be up early as smaller son will start school each day at 8.20. Someone had the brainwave that they should start 30 minutes early in his base and do their homework then, rather than at home. I nearly did a little dance when I was told that!0 -
Ooh we are almost a full house of pleasure posters again! Just need broomstick and skinto, to pop in ....and always think of chicken wonder what happened to our chooky?
So , last night, I came home, had leftovers from work for tea....thought, I'll just go lie down and.......got up for work at 6am! So that was a bit of a snooze! Obviously needed it!
Had to work all day yesterday a 10 hour shift but my kindly colleague came in and helped me close, we did it in double quick time together.
Left work today at 1pm and a train was just pulling in as I reached the station which was perfect.
My kindly boy escorted me to the Salvos, so I could avail of his student card to get 20% discount today! bought a new to me set of lined curtains for my front room, they are having a blow on the washing line to air them.
Whilst out we posted letters, returned library books, topped up on fruit and veg. He carried the cakes from the bakery ( reward for coming with his wee mum) and the F&V. I carried the curtains.
Home to a parcel from my friend from home....a tunnocks teacake bag! Quite delighted with that!
A nice text from next door neighbours daughter this morning, the house has been sold and they are having a garage sale on Saturday but I've to call in on Friday for first dibs! How kind!
Nice email from my SIL, I've kind of decided ( will see how my resolve lasts) that I'm only going to keep in touch with those that keep in touch with me. I feel I always make the effort, I always make the phone calls, I always instigate the communication and to be honest I'm a bit scunnered at that. I have a busy life, work full time, keep house, look after kids as well but have always made time to keep in touch. Possibly time to move on Mhags! We won't be home in UK for a while and only probably if someone is very ill. So I'm going to concentrate on the friendships we have made here.
A pleasure as always reading a DFVpost I love how you summarise everyone's posts!
Anticipated pleasures of UK Tuesday night telly to watch!
Have a wonderful Wednesday0 -
