Today's update very early before my school friend pops round then (trumpet fanfare) - sons come home!

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Spent an age really cleaning the bathroom including the not normal floor clean but the bicarb and vinegar and scrubbing brush to get dirt from the between the very old floorboards rare clean.

    3) MrN popped round to say his sons 4 and 5 are now entitled to free school bus passes (it was costing us £700 per year, per son!!!) and surely bigger son should get the same, living 5 metres away? Interesting as the county suddenly decided to charge me £400 this year (with no explanation) so I shall be on the phone to them again tomorrow!

    4) My sister popped round which I shall put in as a pleasure because I hadn't seen her for a month. Annoyingly I was told I bring up my sons in a completely different way from how my parents brought us up and it "makes them very anxious". (My parents, not my sons!) Apparently they are also obsessed by the fact I have no partner. :-S So that was nice....

    5) Tasty hummus sandwich for lunch.

    6) Just cooked tomatoey sauce and some cherry cakes. I'm going to make a lasagne using the sauce and slices of courgette instead of lasagne sheets.

    7) School friend is on her way bearing a sink plunger because the washing machine has just emptied and backed up into the sink and the water is just staying there. :-(

    8) Sons will soon be home! I think catching up on the Dr Who they missed with some hot chocolate and cherry cakes might be in order.

When are you starting at school, Kittikins?

5 The humanoid protected pool of newts, crested of the great. Has again been invaded by our Cat, Raffles. A lergess one has been removed from the stock. Shocking!

4 Voucher, one for the use of at emporium arrived via the ether yesterday and has been redeemed into some items to eat. This week our shopping bill came to £18.90. And we got reduced ham, and three for £6, came in under dogs. Also Snorker and Bacon, mushrooms and the said. And Bass of the sea variety, also reduced. Most intriguingly is checkout girl look and see if it is correcto mundo. Shocking!

3 BoPsie remarks my usual comment of wanting a proper wifey then. And she commented that I bought the expensive curly lettuce. hey, luxury it be! Shocking!

2 In case you forget, Jenny has a :heartpuls for the unwell. Shocking!

Blimey, that sounds early! DD goes back on Wednesday after an Inset on Tuesday for the teachers (County A) and I'm in Town B (within County A but different authority!) and have 2 Insets. Schools are weird...She will finish 2 days before me in summer though.

Having looked at the cost of flights and apartments in Italy next summer, I'm now looking at single parent holidays in Spain instead! Not quite what I was hoping for, but DD is learning Spanish at school, so it'll be fun for her to practice :)

Kittikins and Frith - I went back last week, with the children in from Thurs 28th Aug! My friend who works in a neighbouring authority goes back this week.

Great weekend, which has come to an end all too quickly! Such is life!

    1) Friend came to stay. She is moving to Dubai in a month for her work, having already lived in the Middle East previously. It's been great to have her back in the UK for the last year.

    2) Went on a local tour. You know the sort that you never do when you live in an area, but is a touristy thing to do? Well, my friend insisted on being touristy - it was great!

    3) Took a picnic to a charity polo match today. Really reasonable to get in and passed the time of day with friend and my DH. I won a prize in the raffle and got to shake the hand of a former rugby player. He's gorgeous. :D

    4) I've been Wombling at Mr T! DH was disgusted because he thought that I was peeling receipts from the floor. Erm, no. Just pouncing on receipts which have been left on tills. Anyway, that's another 3 points!

    5) Actually ready for the week ahead!

    Night all.

    NOT BUYING IT 2018!

Consumerism is.....buying things you don't need with money you don't have to impress people you don't know and probably wouldn't like even if you did know them.

    Back from hols!

I could have posted 5 pleasures every day, but decided I should have a technology holiday, so here is the heavily edited version!

    Florida pleasures

    1. Universal For 11 days!

    2. Kennedy Space Centre - spent the whole day being space geeks. BAZINGA!

    3. Celebration - love this Walt Disney creation. Managed 2 visits.

    4. Cabana Bay Hotel - Stayed here as booked before it was built. (Deal!). Did not need car, and early entry to park for Harry Potter World. 1950's theme-still singing the songs! Pool open til 11pm. So cool swimming at night!

    5. Who would have thought Hogwarts was in Florida? it is done so well! I loved the train journey between Hogwarts and Hogsmede. Diagone Alley is so good.

    New York pleasures

    1. So much for free! Times Sqare, Statten Island Ferry, Walking on Brooklyn Bridge........Very MSE.

    2. Breakfast in the park. The view was Empire State Building!

    3. High Line walk along old railway and strole through Chelsea Market.

    4. Top of The Rock - view of the city at the top of the Rockerfeller Building at sun set. Terribly expensive, but worth it. Watched the educational films at the start, which everyone else skipped past. They missed a treat!

    5. Lost half a stone with so much walking! Amazing given the size of American portions! DD and I had to share a lot of the time!

Many, many more pleasures, but these are the high lights.

Missed you all.........sad to be back at school tomorrow. Thinking of looking for another job, as feelings of dread are not good!

    HE x

    1. What a beautiful day! Yellow thing all day, woolly pully off, tee top on, sun on my skin. Loverly :T
    2. Everything I made for the church sale sold, and I was asked twice for the shortbread recipe. I just used butter, not that other stuff ;)
    3. Popped into a couple of charity shops on my way to lunchtime meeting with friends and found a £16 pair of Eeyore jimmies, bnwt, reduced to £3. It would have been foolish to leave them there, and I do like Eeyore :o
    4. Finished pruning the lilac tree, it looked decidedly lop-sided until I had another go at it today. Now back in its usual lollipop shape. Also part-pruned the patio pear, it's a bit early but it has some sort of disease on the leaves so cut them all off. There are now four little pears on the tree which is four more than it had last year. We're getting there :)
    5. Made a lovely meat-free roast dinner with roast parsnip, potato and onion, broccoli, leek, carrot, garlic chestnut mushroom and onion sauce. I wouldn't have had room for any meat!

    Sweet dreams :)
