    1. Had a much-needed, and very lovely, haircut.

    2. Took DD and her friend to an indoor play place as it was tipping it down, they had a whale of a time.

    3. We all had an enormous piece of Victoria sponge cake, nomnom!

    4. Yummy leftovers with tons of chickpeas for dinner.

    5. Cuddles with DD :)

    Hello all,

Kittikins, if you are interested in a holiday in Sardinia check this out: http://www.lamariposa.it.

We often go, you can fly direct with ryanair and their bungalows are basic but nice, and not expensive at all. We love it there!

    My pleasures for today:

    1. Nice chilli eggs for breakfast
    2. Grocery challenge day 1 was a NSD, I paid for the kitchen drawers but they had been already ordered and budgeted for.
    3. Lovely, interesting free tai chi class in the park
    4. Time together with DS helping him fill job applications online
    5. Plumber finished his bit, electrician nearly so, a step nearer a finished kitchen!

    Good night.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Got some sense out of the county council. Less sense from Tax Credits! Looks like the cost of bigger son's bus pass might be cut a bit more. Annoyingly, Tax Credits can't send a letter confirming for a fortnight (why not!) so bigger son will not have a bus pass for some time...

    3) Phoned the (privately run) bus company to say his bus pass hasn't arrived and they said they'll let him on without it for a week or so!

    4) Looked for slow worms and found 2 and a nest of tiny mice.

    5) Neighbour's freezer had broken so he gave me some (thawing) salmon. So that was unexpected for our tea. I made a tomato sauce and flaked the salmon in it, added some cooked pasta and did a sort of pasta bake with cheese sauce on top. Also made a treacle sponge.

mhags you would laugh, I've just had to cut 8 inches off the pyjama trousers. Of course I could have sewn them up at the bottom and had a sparrer-gro :rotfl:

    1. Took mutters to vet, only cost 50p as I was in credit. Fortunately nothing serious, and anti-b's and anti'h's will sort him out. A return visit next Monday, I wonder if he'll be as scared of all the other dogs, yet make friends with a cat as he did today! Spoke to the dog sitter and explained, she's happy to give him his meds over the weekend so I can still go away :)
    2. Popped in to see DD, gave DGD2 more artists materials found in DM's flat. She wasn't the world's best artist but she did try, her biggest achievement seemed to be drawing bananas ;)
    3. Posted a parcel for DS, counter lady asked what was in it and laughed when I told her it was a mini frying pan for my son. Much speculation in the queue why I should be sending him a mini one, the best was he must just be learning how to cook :D
    4. Drizzled solidly from morning til late afternoon so the water butt is full again and everything is nicely wet. Looking forward to the 13 weeks of fine weather we're being promised, when will it start, I wonder...
    5. A meeting this evening, gave seven awards to people who have reached their initial goals in the fellowship. A lovely feeling to see how far they've come

    Sweet dreams :)

Love the fact that it's a new month, even though September is my 'sad' month, my Mum died 23 years ago today (2nd) and Dad's 17th anniversary is on the 13th.

    1. Got my bro what he wanted for his birthday online, 3 pure cotton XL t-shirts in deep green. I hope they are OK, they had mixed reviews. How many hours would I have spent in Newcastle, Middlesbrough or Darlo trawling shops for T-shirts of that description in pre-Internet days. I wondered?

    2. Visit from friend and her grand-daughter, who is being raised as her daughter, followed by visit from another friend. Yay!

    3. I was offered some products to review direct from manufacturers, by email. One of them was a Samsung carphone charger combined with USB ports for my iPhone. I tested it in Dr C's car, but we already have one, so it was really surplus.
I'm not allowed to dispose of 'stuff' Am*zon offers me directly but this had no such ties. Friend 1 had a Samsung phone and no car charger. She had gone to buy one but was in the dilemma of finding the official product very expensive, whilst not knowing if a cheaper unofficial product would work. Charger rehomed.

    4. Dr C. clearing weeds for me and replacing the bulb in the outside security light. I always did this sort of job, but I'm not complaining!

    5. Weight is still going in the right direction. Oven baked fish and couscous for tea, very quick and easy and the sort of meal that will keep it that way.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    4. Easy meal of Woopsied Chicken Pie and mash, with strawberries and cream to follow

    5. Hens laid an egg.

Hope everyone has a lovely day today. x

    Morning

    Pleasures for yesterday,

    1. Toasted crumpets with butter for breakfast, mmm yummy
    2. Missed the bus by seconds in the morning but the sun was shining so happy to stand in the sunshine and wait for the next one.
    3. Managed to clear a few bits off my desk and start looking at the next bit of my new job I need to get my head around.
    4. Peaceful hour when I got home as was the first one in so got dinner cooking - a yummy gnocchi bolognaise bake (this made DD very happy as loves gnocchi), also roasted a chicken to use in lunches this week. I got the packed lunches organised and sang along to the radio at the top of my voice.
    5. Early night as was falling asleep in the chair, am finding that the 2-3 hours a day travelling is making me very tired. I have been spoilt for a long time with only a 20 minutes walk to work. DD got into bed with me for a cuddle.

Hugs to all who need them.

    NOT BUYING IT 2018!

Consumerism is.....buying things you don't need with money you don't have to impress people you don't know and probably wouldn't like even if you did know them.
