Exactly so Frith - the hinterland rang loud and clear. But just look at the rest of your post - A*:-)
Excellent uncanny find of blazer. Lovely vegs all in your first few months: bless the allotment for all it does for you and you for it. VG bus pass letter. Local group needing a concertina player in their line-up will hear about you on the grapevine before you know it.
And now I'm going to find out about Last Leg on't box, i-player though :-)
    & hwb now.

Kettle has just finished boiling here for hwb. Bath would be running but I've just realised I've come downstairs without turning it on!

Last Leg will be on 4od. :-)

I heard my name mentioned, & :) ... August is a strange month round here, Dr C. really struggles around his birthday each year, his sister had the insight as to why this year.
Long chats between them and I hope they helped. Not many pleasures to post at that time though.

August is her birthday month too, so there are happy times, TG.

Let's see if I can get back on track with some pleasures.
    1. Wedding of former childminded child last Saturday in lovely Durham Dales village.
    2. TG for the music. A recovered Dr C. saw an 'awesome' Steve Earle on Monday in Milton Keynes, Steve's songs are so popular at the club. Two of them sung on Tuesday, 'Someday' and 'My Old Friend The Blues'. The week before we had 'Galway Girl' and one of the bands that plays sometimes is 'Copperhead Road' (another SE song).
    3. Joints are easier, have been able to have a few days off painkillers.
    4. Another lost book from childhood in the post - off to bed to read a bit more shortly. (The Cownappers - Monica Edwards).
    5. Have seen my grandchildren twice this week. Yay!
    6. The Last Leg has been a favourite of since the first show and series, when it highlighted the Paralympics, then being shown on C4, and disability issues. The focus has widened but it's still the show with the token AB, as it should be. :)
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Not sure why it won't let me thank posts sometimes, but all read and appreciated! Frith, all I will say is 'mothers!'

Anyway, hello from the back porch, sun is setting , birds are roosting and noisy, it's been a lovely day but starting to cool down. Citronella candles have been lit and a fresh posy of garden flowers picked for my little porch stool. Pretty solar lights have just came on. I'm reading a good book but pausing to post my pleasures

Woke up early and was enjoying my book when I got a call to go into work early.....this turned out to be probably our busiest shift ever! Madness!
( some extra cash earned by working , I suppose is the pleasure! )

Went to our usual cafe after work and shared potato wedges with OH. Mooched through the papers.

Bought seeds and potting compost in aldi, will get planting tomorrow.

Sitting outside ....a couple of years ago I just would not have done this for fear of beasties,

DD1 is going to a friends 18th party and asked me to make her a posy of flowers to take, which I thought was very thoughtful. Posy made up of camellias , freesia, and 3 different kinds of lavender. Very pretty.

    Have a lovely Saturday :)
  • DfV hope your son is ok x

mcculloch ((hugs)) to you and DrC too x

    1. survived the week at work, although exhausted and now on a warning about my sick - including these 5 days I have had 7 days off in the last 12 months !

    2. boss is leaving for another section - have been made to feel inferior since they arrived and told me the hospital was overreacting when I was admitted to A&E last week. Needless to say I will not miss them

    3. washing dried on line today - no rain here and grass is looking lush (although I am hoping not to have to cut it again this year)

    4. lazy day eating junk food out of freezer :o

    5. no more work till Tuesday :j

Hope you are all having a good weekend x

Frith (((hugs))) from someone with an extremely difficult mother! It is very hard. xx

    Me today:

    1. Lovely outing with DH

    2. We finally ordered all the drawers and ironmongery for the kitchen cabinet, expensive but well worth it, hopefully will last us a lifetime.

    3. Nice community festival where I reconnected with a lost acquaintance and found a way to volunteer in a community wholefoods shop where I can buy loose wholefoods at cost.

    4. Found and bought the most gorgeous vintage coat, Harris tweed, perfect fit and more than reasonable price.

    5. Friend visit, and she had dinner with us. Lovely seeing her again.

    Good night.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Last post lost (grrr!) but will try again.

MHags - was driving along happily today when a spider suddenly dangled in front of my right eye from a length of web! Managed to open the window and flail around and knock it outside without crashing the car.

Skint - have a nice time off work (good to hear that boss has gone....)

Have been busy today finishing off bits and pieces before sons get home tomorrow. Here are my pleasures:

    1) A lie in.

    2) Put allotment runner beans in the freezer. Stewed some apples (also for the freezer). Cooked up lots of plums and made jam. Not the best but certainly edible.

    3) Cleaning continued - stairs, kitchen and floor.

    4) Into nearest town quickly for bits and pieces. Dropped stuff off at charity shops and found Worcester Warriors rugby shirt for brother!

    5) Popped in to see honourary aunt and uncle on the way home and had a cup of tea. Have got to phone back as I've done his car insurance quote online to get it cheaper!

    6) Pie and chips from the van.

    7) Dr Who and Casualty.

    8) Doing an online computer coding course and completed the first hour - phew!

    1. Made 20 50/50 rolls, 12 shortbread rounds and 2 dozen butterfly cakes for the church sale
    2. Mowed the lawn and applied a second dose of dandelion killer - the last lot gave me a better crop of dandelions than I had to start with!
    3. More laundry dried on the line, is this the start of the promised indian Summer?
    4. DNeighbour gave doglet a lamb bone with enough meat to add to his dinners for 3 or 4 days. Lucky doglet
    5. Lots of phone calls from family/friends, nice to have a day at home but lovely to have them keep in touch

    Sweet dreams :)

    Briefly as it's bedtime:

My one and only day off .
Finished a library book and started another.
    Ironing done whilst watching casualty.
Washing dried outside and then ironed whilst watching GBBO extra portions.
Nabbed lemons from next doors tree. ( we do have permission! And then made lemon cupcakes.
Went for dinner with bosses. Had a lovely risotto, stuffed!
Dropped cakes off at a friends in way back.
Have a good day...almost Monday again!

    1. Survived (just) a weekend of my brother and his girlfriend visiting...

    2. Enjoyed a day out at the local town's folk music festival, lots of morris and other dancing and people dressed up in very strange costumes.

    3. Far too much yummy food for daddykins' birthday celebration dinner and lunch....ah well....

    4. I now have 2 lovely new pairs of shoes, hopefully comfy enough for many days at school!

    5. We enjoyed watching The Ladykillers on DVD last night :)

    6. I bumped into one of my favourite uni tutors in a shop and introduced her to DD, who she knew all about because of me telling her months ago how much DD was supporting me during my teacher training. Tutor asked DD if she minded the story of how DD wrote me a lovely poem to cheer me up which I keep in my pencil case, with her new students. DD was very chuffed and, naturally, agreed :)
