5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1. Sunshine
2. A lovely walk along the river last evening with DD and our chums, the daughter was celebrating her 16th birthday.
3. DD is feeling all grown up as we went to a 16 year old's 'party' (3 mums, 2 teenagers and DD). If DD grows up to be as lovely as the birthday girl, I will be very happy indeed.
4. DD and I went to uni library and yet again, I have lots of very useful books and whilst chatting to the 'aunties', was told that they have a part-time job going....shame it's for a qualified librarianBut...if I could find a part-time job at the uni in the town where I'll be working, that would be fab....as of course, if you work for the uni, you get a library card
5. More laminating...........haven't got completely bored of it yet
6. Made more of my no-carb scrumptious bread, as quick and easy as making fairy cakes
7. Was the best mummy in the world as I let DD sign up to a certain website again, as she had forgotten her user name and password. The things I do....
8. Plans have been firmed up to go back to our old village to see our lovely, lovely friend and her family. We're just planning on seeing them and being away for one night only, I think we're both a bit 'holidayed out' and want more mummy/daughter time.
9. DD has donated some of her books that she has grown out of to my classroom. My bookcase currently contains very few books, and they are all pretty much out of the ArkI'm in envy of teachers who can set up book corners, as I have no space for that, but I'm going to do my best to get everyone reading as much as possible
10. Cleaned all the bathrooms in the house without being prompted (and then polished my halo, lol).0 -
Get well soon & was wondering why you were phoning a difficult automatic teller machine then realised what atm stood for. D'oh
ccp you can certainly be jealous of my day today (see below) but not tomoz / saturday when i wing my way back to blighty, losing 5 hours on the way and trying not to nod off at gatwick where i have 6 hours!!!
1) woke at 6:30 so gentle morning till 8 am meeting which went very well and finished at 9:30 in time for
2) pancakes for breakfast before
3) sister of my new friend i met at antigua came to pick me up and take me on local bus (rather different from my usual 73 i can tell you!)
4) to meet my new friend and her friend who was acting chauffeur
5 to go to the doctor's appointment with my new friend - he was a very jolly nigerian who reminded me of the md from the simpsons. I was suprsied to be invited into the consultation, which was lovely and gentle and lasted an hour then
6) off to a local eatery for roti yum yum then
7) off to find coconut water served fresh in the huge coconut. Very refreshing though a little alarming when man picked out 'my' coconut and started to slicing the top off with a maschette then
8) off to her house for her to get changed and i got to try cane juice (not so keen as on the coconut water) then
9) off to his for him to get his swimming togs then
10) off to the sulphur baths. Dreamy! And it started to rain while we were in the cooler pool, all under the canopy of a tropical rainforest then
11) off to a bar for a rum punch. Wow, quite a kick! Then
12) they dropped me back at my flat and i went for a meal in a local restaurant that had been recommended. Yummy pasta and shrimps. Stuck to ginger ale though after the punch. And now in bed listening to beethoven on the prom having just caught up with poor old ed.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hi All posting in the middle of the night tonight as I went to bed very early with a headache, which is still lingering, not sure if it's some kind of head cold coming on
Was very distracted yesterday and reversed into someone's car. Only a minor thing (bumpers) but you know how these things can be and makes all my MSE efforts seem in vain. I sought out the owner, who was very nice about it but I will have to see what happens next.
Just when I was beginning to get on an even keel. Still that is what insurance/or my safety fund is for. Was very hot and tired but I need to take more care in future.
Ampersand, count me in the new job hunters. (And thanks PK).
Marmite, sending hugs re Big Whisker Face x
My pleasures:-
1.had lovely conversation with colleague today about doing extra hours and how jobs should be able to be done within your normal hours and you shouldn't be expected to work extra all the time for nothing (my previous job)
2. Still making headway with new job
3. free fruit (again)
4. Nice chat at lunch with 2 colleagues
5. Meeting tomorrow to network with someone who may have possible employment opportunities and heard earlier I can see a friend afterwards who I wasn't expecting to be thereOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

For yesterday:
-a lovely swim.
-an nsd,my sixth of the month!
-I sorted out some banking details-long overdue.
-did some more mending on two old pairs of jeans with rips at the knee, meaning they'll last a fair bit longer.
-having a salad using my own vegetables.
-I've found a cake recipe with all the ingredients already in my cupboards.I'll be making a mincemeat cake,as I have a few jars of HM mincemeat and some bought ones.
-watching 'Ab-Fab' on the telly.I'd forgotten how good it is.
Sorry all,it's a bit repetitive.
Wishing all the poorly ones a speedy recover and a Happy Friday to all!0 -
Mine for yesterday
1. Lovely sunrise
2. OK day at work - wasn't looking forward to it - various people on leave which makes it harder to avoid the boss.
3. DS2 went to pick up DS1 at 11.30pm
4. NSD
5. Tea of lamb and also courgettes which were free.0 -
Hurrah for Friday!
Been a busy old day, we had a fundraising charity event today ( as did lots of Melbourne caf!s raising money for a homeless charity ( or charity for the homeless would make more sense)
My lovely husband , who had left work earlier than usual, just happened to be at an appropriate place, when I called him, to turn left and come and help me, rather than going right and heading home. He mopped the floors and brought in all the heavy ( I have to lug it in every night) street
furniture.
We are going out for dinner tonight with friends, looking forward to catching up with them but probably looking forward to the food more. Starving!
That's only 3 again...but all I do is go to work, work, come home from work... Will try for more over the weekend when there is NO work!
Have a lovely day0 -
kittikins- your room sounds like mine we are small village school no room for anything and everything so dated!
mhagster- Well done getting 3 it can be hard sometimes as theres probably little pleasures many of us over look.
villagelife- well done getting through the day at work- keep that chin up!
So yesterdays list for me:
1) Created a list of what to do for September and not feeling to scared by it!
2) Ticked off that pesky item on my to do list
3) Tea out with the husband
4) A pub quiz which was quite comical when we started talking to table next to us.
5) A good culpa- can't do a day without lolA big thank you to all those who post on the forum and make it a worthwhile place!!!:j0 -
BoP - Raffles on shredded chicked & duck? As well as the odd newt?
CCP - that's one handsome stranger visiting your garden. You weren't unduly taken with the CBT, so enjoy pub quiz & batter luck with next course!
ampersand - delighted you are back with us and wishing you all speed in return to health. Spray every two hours? That's against the Geneva Convention as far as I know, but in the fight against disease most bets are off.
Purple kitten - well done you both getting out & having a really good time but also enduring the grind of a flexible handover.
Frith - sorry to hear neither birthday presents nor antibiotics cooperating but a very heating tea sounds splendid!
kittikins - when the laminating gets boring, delegate! Cleaning bathrooms unprompted? Stick to a brew & book - still Good Examples, less hazardous...
DD - I do not envy you the jetlag or flight socks, but oooh freshly chopped coconut water in its native land! And the baths... Travel safe!
supersaver - having had a prang which was all my fault recently, absolutely feel for you! At least your safety fund is there, and while it will be trickier next year, it's still vital to shop around for car insurance!
marmite - mended jeans - brilliantly OS! (Oh that mine went at the knees.)
villagelife - sorry to hear too much leave means too much proximity to boss, but lamb for tea must surely help?!
mhagster - hurrah you industrious captain of industry, ticketed denizen of Aus pro tem & fundraiser! Rousing cheers that man for lugging in the furniture for you & may his health remain sound & stable.
butterfly - hurrah for the to do list & for sorting items thereupon!
My OS Pleasures
45 minutes to change a wheel. (I got the jacking point wrong.) Slightly proud of myself. May even manage to keep wheel/tyre & not have to replace! [No chickens being counted.]
Got the menfolk to the opticians. Youngest, asked to read the top line, asked where? Promptly jugged for shortsightedness & will be wearing glasses this summer. Pleasure that we caught it young.
I enjoy a good Out Of Office message. Scripting one that says I should see your email in the first week of September (but don't count on that) is proving an amusing challenge.
Awed by technology - just seen a memory chip big enough to hold my entire ebook library that sits on my thumbnail! Phone technology it is leaping forwards, [says the gal who started with a Nokia brick].
The chaps sorting the lifts at work let me peer up one of the lift shafts. Blimey - these hidden spaces are fascinating! My first thought was what a lot of books you could store along the walls between the safety gear...
Big hugs to all who need them, health & strength retained restored and/or repaired as needed & I do beleive it is Friday!0 -
No how good is it for too!
Look if you are going to wake at that time of the morning, you could had least had the decency to get the cakes in and the kettle on. And the chairs, they remain unseated and just for &, facing out! There is no wander Chicken has dun a runner, with foxes in the parish. Get well those in need.
5 Never one to give away secrets, but with a middle name of squeeeeellloooe, you can only guess what news of the world, that wood make your eyes water. Yes it is true, BoP, that ever so nice haired thing that hangs round this parish, and gives & her fare share on one, has, ultimately, after being given the choice by his quack, available for bar mitz fests, of loosing sum inches from his waste, has today, put on five pounds! And lost an inch! Their, you fort I was going too put me foot in it!
4 You know it is quiet arduous work that I do every day. Well, today is Friday, and we have noted that some in the Parish are on their summers off, but you lot get off the roads, cos BoP is amongst you, for the weekend. Well not literally, but we are having a house blitz. Any how, on the roads, yesterday at the sling bridge, the old one you have to pay to enter Wales on, we had to get across the paddock and the grid to get to the auto toll lane, as the ones on the left were full!
3 Now, I think we are having a house blitz this weekend.
2 Nite, after the house blitz, could be a Scrabble Live event. This week is one a piece, and BoPsie was so co close to winning two on the pounce.
1 Take the weight off the world, jump!0 -
Been busy for a few days hence no recent posts.
Sparrer, thinking of you in this difficult time xx
My 1-100 pleasures yesterday: the return of my DD and DS from their interrail trip in Europe!
101. The allotment is doing well
102. Lovely massage for me and DD today
103. Planned family dinner out tonight, Chinese meal to celebrate my birthday that the kids had missed
104. Got an email from someone I correspond online and they are visiting me tomorrow.
Good night. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
