    Pleasures 1-1000000

We have been granted permanent residency to stay in Australia.

We were prepared for application to be turned down because OH had cancer 2 years ago ( under 5 years ) but he had a good report from his oncologist which has obviously swayed the application.

We had been granted another 4 year visa a couple of weeks ago but we couldn't have afforded to stay because of exorbitant international uni fees ...we will still have fees but about 1/3 of the cost.

So a massive relief off our shoulders and those of our children too.

I managed to sneak in a holiday at home before this was granted as we will lose this perk of OHs job.

Prior to this ( we only found out 2 hours ago) I'd had a good day at work....with some suitably managerial issues to deal with ( staff moans!)

Dry day but oh my , a wind that would cut you in two and blow you right down the street!

Hope your day is as good :)

That's great news mhagstar. You must be thrilled.

I'm struggling a bit to find good things to post...

-went swimming yesterday,in the outdoor pool, during a thunderstorm! They didn't shut the pool because there was no lightening locally.

    -planning to go swimming today.

-had a good Pilates class, and did some of the exercises last night.

-I've got my nsd hat well in place, and have exceeded this month's target. And the thread is all up to date.

-a good friend had his birthday yesterday. We spoke on the phone, and he had a lovely day.
  • More chew than …

Pasta, green tomatoes. Yes, I have lost a few quid along the way as well. Permanent. Hope one does not become boisterous should the Cricket entertain in the Ashes, now! :heartpuls as Jenny sends Sparra one!

5 Now I know I has told you about our shopping and the massive overspend of £8 on Sunday, taking it well over £20. Now I ask you, BoPsie, who dropped the bowl of strawbs and ice cream last eve, has even some left for today. Now how does that make BoP feel so lucky. PS strawbs were rescued, ice cream licked up by Raffles.

4 Now, on the subject of raffles. Last eve, all the pots remained unwashed. You may ask why the Ex Ms BoPsie was so worried and upset as to leave all the pots unwashed. Yes, you’ve guessed it. Raffles had bought his dinner home, and the second time this week indeedy. A slow worm, the size of my little finger!

3 This morning, with yesterdays pots still unwashed, Raffles was still toying with is plaything. And I had to exhaust it away from the house. BoPsie hid in the dning room while the operation was under way.

2 Todays food, as well as them strawbs, I has them sour grapes as well. Now, I know that some only eat this food in the wards, but I can assure you of the flavour and texture. And this was also part of the £8 that we massively overspent on the shop. Again, notice the complete lack of Crab sandwich.

1 When you compare, the likeness in the answer is …

I note DD is close to who wants BoP for an interview!!

You remain in my thoughts & prayers.

    Excellent news, MHags!

    Pleasures for today:

    1) A lie in.

    2) Sorted out some more paperwork.

    3) Dropped all the old toys/clothes off at the charity shop.

    4) Went to see Aunty B in hospital. A difficult visit as she thought I was my aunty N (she's 65, 6 feet tall with curly hair - doesn't look like me!) She was very confused and talked constantly of her neighbour having a garden party. Unfortunately, she has been getting worse for about a year and really should not leave hospital to live by herself. I phoned my mum when I got home and got the usual denials and "She was fine yesterday" rubbish. I'm still quite cross about that phone call.

    5) Then went to see Aunty B's brother! He's 95 and has had a series of strokes and can't really talk so I had to provide a monologue. I took some cake with me and did the washing up.

    6) Popped in to the big shopping centre over that way and got bigger son 4 new cheapy T shirts as he's outgrown everything. It is very odd having to get "small man" clothes. I suppose if he doesn't like them, they'll just about fit me! Also got him some new boxer shorts (again, out of my comfort zone - what qualities should I look for in them?!) and plenty of socks for us all.

    7) Made a curry for my tea - courgette (that's being made into everything - including brownies!) and mushroom.

    8) Just got off the phone to my school friend.

    9) Enjoyed Holby City.

Exciting child-free day planned tomorrow! After no social life to speak of, tomorrow I'm off to Worcester to see a school friend, then a college friend, then off to Wolverhampton in the afternoon to visit another friend!!

    Good evening,

Glad to read your good news mhags!

    Great day, here it is:

    1. Excellent shopping bargain with voucher. Fully stocked for next few days food on £4!

    2. The builder finished all the tiling (very nice!) and bagged all the rubble for us. DH will drive it to the tip in 3 or 4 trips and it will save us a fortune in skip hire.

    3. The self employment course was carp but I ate lots of free biscuits. Good quality ones, not cheap stuff!

    4. Visited a friend briefly to catch up.

    5. Amazing evening out, free 50s live music show on a square not far from DH's workplace. We bought bits and pieces of picnic food, a tub of ice cream and a bottle of posh fizzy water and joined the crowds of old people (like us!) dancing the mash potato and the twist, it was really totally fun like I haven't had in a long time. And the weather was perfect, lovely balmy evening. DH, stone cold sober, danced with the best of them. Unusual! I am impressed.

    Good night.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Mhagster - great news - congratulations.

    1. DS1 home and doing his own washing. He had a great holiday.

    2. Given courgettes and a cucumber from a friend.

    3. Took lunch into work when I was so tempted in the morning not too bother.

    4. Money from quidco in my account.

    5. Watching the commonwealth games

That's great news from you, mhagster!

    My pleasures for yesterday:

    1) HM bread pudding for breakfast. It was made with wholemeal, seedy bread and lots of raisins so I could half convince myself it was almost a healthy option. :o

    2) A colleague showing us photos of her HG veg - she took on her allotment less than a year ago and is rightly pleased with what she's achieved.

    3) Beef and bean burritos for dinner, using up some LO meat from Sunday night's dinner.

    4) Working out that, by turning by chair at 45 degrees from the table, I could do the pub quiz and watch the athletics at the same time.

    5) Walking home after the quiz, in a vest top with no jacket needed - I love summer!
Back after a very long break!
